  1. well i have recently done mine i think its a good idea to take em off clean them then put them back on and bleed otherwise if you don't clean them well the paint won't have a surface to stick to so to speak

Obviously the best way is to remove it, but if you don't know how to like me, degrease it and sand it like a nut. LOL! B)

So far so good! But when I change my pads or upgrade my brakes, I'll definitely be taking them off to respray them.

  2. He is at risk. The person paypals him with a stolen paypal account. You give him the car and transfer paper. Person who owns that paypal account informs paypal that their info was stolen (easily checked if its being logged on in a different country). Money goes back to the stolen paypal account from your account (much like when the bank makes a mistake and gives you lots of money extra). Then you are left with no car and no money.

I'm assuming that's the same case with EBay?

Most sellers requests Paypal and I guess anyone with a stolen account could just purchase anything. Doesn't explain why sellers would recommend this method then.

  3. That's right. That was what i consider as well.

When i was looking for an Yaris 2 years ago, i found someone in carsales.com selling a YRS model for $8000 only!

I email her and she told me she just got devorce with her husband and in need to sell the car to get some cash.

She also said she is in UK atm and in a very difficult situation.

She ask Paypal payment as well and she will arrange the delivery from DARWIN to BNE..

That's way much lower than the market price at the time even Trade-in price so i dont believe it

    Too good to be true.

LOL! I found an Audi A4 Cabriolet 2008 model for $12000 before I bought the Sportivo...

The woman said she's overseas and can't let me inspect the car. :P

  4. Wow when i was first reading this thread i didn't even think that this could be the same problem that my car was having. But now that I think about it, it could be. My problem is that when I start the car and leave it to idle, the car makes a rattling noise like "young." said, a 5c coin rattling away somewhere under the bonnet. The noise is constantlly there. I can't really hear it whilst at speed but whenever i'm stopped and idling its there

I'm no mechanic so would someone be able to tell me what to look for when looking for the drive belt tensioner or the alternator bracket? (yes i know where the alternator is but not sure what to tighten)

Only difference is that mine rattles while moving. Throw it on N and rev it abit, it rattles away...

Can this cause any damage? <_<

  5. Tempe Tyres has excellent range and reasonable prices but they are based in Syd... but you can always negotiate free freight... :whistling:

Don't know much about Tempe Tyres, but from what I've researhed, alot of people hae had problems with them. Sh*t service, wrong products shipped out, etc etc...

But you might get lucky! :yahoo:

    My 2 cents anyway...

  6. How's the insurance? LOL

Mate killed off a DC5S and now back to luxury DC5 and I think he's hesitating to go for EP3.

insurance is less then my 05 stivo back then 1300 full comp under my name 23 just cars

tell him to go ep3 for sure lols its win!!!

I think he's tossing up between 180SX or Evo 8 at the moment. Turbo FTMFW!?!? :spiteful::whistling:

  7. Hey fellas

Before people starts ranting, I've looked at other CAI vs. SRI topics, but I just need to get a few direct answers.

    1. Between APEXi SRI and TRD CAI, which one adds more power for Corolla Sportivos'? Any dynos to prove it?

    2. (Not that important) Which one of those is louder? I've spoke to Dave, who has had both intakes, and he said the APEXi is louder.

I've heard that SRI gives more bottom end power as opposed to CAI giving a better high end power. So I'm assuming the "lift" will be even better with a CAI and the launch will be better with a SRI?

Any one with knowledge behind these intakes please come forward and give me your opinion on them.

    Cheers,

    Young

    Hey mate,

if you want to, and if funds permit, get an Injen CAI, designed a lot more professionally then the TRD CAI, and will give you more gains...

The Dyno that was compared to on the Melbourne Crew a little while back had:

    -De-snorkeled airbox

    -TRD CAI

    -CES CAI

    -Injen CAI

though im not sure if its conclusive research lol :P

As for your second question, YES, the Apexi will be louder, but keep in mind that since it will basically be a pod filter where your airbox was, it will still be sucking in hot air - even if you have a air feed up to it... Now i don't want to start any arguments, but from everything i have researched, don't get an SRI unless you have a 1zz... CAI + LIFT = 1 Happy Young XD

as for me... i am going with a CES CAI that i have had specially made up just for me :yahoo: B) keep in mind though, i have a s/c'ed 1zz ;)

    Good luck mate :D

    Thanks for the Reply!

I must say currently, I am leaning towards SRI because of 2 reasons...

    1. Puddles! Sydney has been raining heavily lately and I was picking up my missus from the club when I went passed a MASSIVE puddle. I realised that I probably won't see sh*t all at night in heavy rain which obviously won't be good news for a CAI.

    2. The gains in power in the lower RPM ranges really appeal to me. I'll DEFINITELY use alot more lower revs than higher revs. I don't think Stivo is very quick on the launch so the extra hand will be helpful.

I don't want it to appear as though I've already made up my decision between the two. I'm simply putting together the pros and cons so that I can pick the right one for me.

Here's another brain rattler, is it possible (or better) to make a box for the SRI? Seal it in and stick a tube out the other end for the cold air feed? Kinda works like an inverse CAI.

    Just a thought anyway... :yahoo:

    Cheers,

    Young

  8. There's an APEXi Power Intake on nengun.com

So I'm right to assume both of these products have similar power increase just at different RPM ranges?

I'm planning to have an air duct to the APEXi SRI, would that somehow be affect by the rain at all?

While I'm at it, anyone with any information behind K&N SRI?

    Cheers,

    Young

  10. Nice work Mate.. You really took precautions against overspray :P

Glad you got the chopped springs out.

Thanks mate. I wanted to disassemble the entire piece, but don't know how to disconnect the brake fluids. So I chickened out and pretty much did everything I can to block out the overspray. :whistling:

Very happy with the way it went. When I get my brakes upgraded, Hopefully I can do a complete job. (Honestly, painting those took me 12hrs including waiting time) <_<

  11. Thanks!

Rear was already fitted with King Lows, front had chopped stockies.

Only had to replace the front with King Lows.

I'll get some nice photos up when the weather clears up abit in Sydney, and it definitely needs a good wash.. haha

  12. Hey boys and girls!

It's been a while, I've painted my calipers and recently added King Springs Low to the front. (Courtesy of SB) :yahoo:

Anyway, I'll let the photos do the talking.
