  1. Hi, when you consider the flat bottom of the tank and the size necessary for a float the closest registration of empty would have to be when the bottom of the float sits on the bottom of the tank, thus being unable to gauge whats left in the tank. usually manufactures like to set the gauge to read empty with a little bit in reserve and in some models a waning when your getting near empty. So if it takes 55ltrs to fill up a 70ltr tank from empty this should leave you with 15ltrs in the tank at that point hopefully a margin sufficient to get you to a service station. Not sure of yours but the specs say the 1998-2000 Camry has a 70ltr tank?
  2. HI my car is a 1999 Camry Vienta Grande. A very quiet car in normal trim but Tyre noise was unacceptable. Fitted second door seals to the parts that didn't have them and noticed marked improvement. I used old ED Falcon door seals which I had picked up from the wreckers for $10 and which were on hand, from times past and cut the pieces I wanted to size and glued them in place. Plus in areas where these were too large, I used some smaller self adhesive hollow stuff from Clark Rubber. Now enjoying whisper quietness, even on rough roads, the only interruption being some minor engine noise under heavy acceleration which I'm having difficulty isolating, possibly coming through windscreen or sneaking through firewall. Camry door seals would probably be a better option and match. Might look at that later. Notice Falcon is reputed to be one of the quietest and they have full double door seals but Commodore hasn't and the current one transmits lots of road noise and their build quality doesn't match the Vienta's.
  3. HI as far as I'm aware methylated spirits does not affect most plastics (it comes in a plastic bottle) Ive used it to remove glue from door plastic-rubber door seals double sided tape residue from the back of plastic emblems etc with no ill affects however chromed plastic etc is a different matter as the chrome coating is probably attached with a glue that can be dissolved by the metho. If metho wont move residual glue, try petrol. one or the other usually works. By the way bird crap if left on paint sometimes for a relatively short time can leave a mark.Happened to me and I tried everything from polishing it off etc to no avail. Rang panel beater and was told to pour boiling water on it, do anything else before and forget it. So next time I tried it and it worked.
  4. Presuming most modern engines require similar protection. I owned and drove a Ausy built skyline six (Yes yes I know its not a Toyota) I covered 260,000+KM in 16 years changed oil every 10,000KM using Mobil 1 I'm sure it was 10/40 in those days and the car was still clean as a whistle and not burning a drop of oil between oil changes when I got rid of it. As My Toyota Camrey Vienta is a superior car I should be able to get as good or better results. However, as this car has a higher compression ratio and is more efficient and more highly tuned I expect more is required from oils!!? A relation of mine who is highly conversant with Toyotas, having worked on them almost exclusively for 15 years, has advised me to use 15/40 oil and change it every 5000KS he also said forget the cheap oils and that with the 5000KM oil change a good mineral oil would be fine. I will be using synthetic oil 15/40.

    grille

Hi, I took another line. Car is a 1998 Vienta Grande with a 5 bar grill. Decided it would look heaps better chromed so I bought some wide chrome pin stripe tape and went to work. It looks 100 percent. If wear quality isn't up to scratch although its going well so far, I'll pull the tape off undercoat the grill, re pin stripe it and give the lot a few coats of clear lacquer which should be tough enough. cost $12 for pin stripe tape.
  6. If you stick to the truth and he if does and provided you were in a position which made it impossible to stop safely and if he saw it that way, which is why there is a amber light. Then the case should be ruled in your favor. But to tell the truth I'd hate your chances too many ifs ????
  7. Hi everybody. Well I've been a Ford addict till now but that's now in the passed. Have taken over a 1999 Camry/Vienta Grande with I believe full options. 172000KM on the clock, immaculate in and out, WOW what a car. Smooth silent and responsive. I operate in the North Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and look forward to keeping in touch with the club.
