I noticed this at work the other day and thought it might be of interest to some people - The GSV50 shape Aurion does indeed use 6x9 speakers, but only the frame is 6x9, with the speaker itself being more of a 6.5". I'm not sure if this was a cost cutting technique by Toyota or if there's method behind the madness, but I decided to take some photos on my phone either way. Sadly these speakers don't fit the GSV40 doors whatsoever, but I have some aftermarket 6x9 to 6.5" speaker brackets on the way over so it's good to see that Toyota themselves even decided to ditch the 6x9 idea this time around :)

Nice idea. I had one of my bootlid lights out in the weekend and also noticed the blank spot where a bulb could go and thought it would be pretty cool to put some additional LEDs in there etc, so it's nice to see someone actually put them to use.

Here's some night-time shots for anyone considering buying one of these units. You can change the background to a darker one (or custom one) if you don't want it as bright, or just set the auto-dim down lower, but I personally like it nice and bright :). So far so good!

After spending some time studying the factory Camry/Aurion wiring diagrams (http://toyota.aitnet.org/Camry/Camry_2007_wiring_diagrams.pdf) I think I may have figured out the problem. I'm going to ditch my existing connectors for the back of the A/C display and use the proper connector that was designed for it, as technically right now the only two wires that are going back to the A/C amplifier is the power and communication wires. The two wires that my original connector is missing (red and black) are only for the A/C controls on the steering wheel, so I won't need to worry about those right now, but all of the other wires are in different pin locations, so if I use the proper plug all the right signals should go to all the right places.
According to the diagram, there's two hot/cold mix servos for the digital A/C, one on the driver's side of the A/C blower unit and one on the passenger's side - Which makes complete sense since that'll be how it sends two different temperatures left and right. There's also the addition of the interior temperature sensor and also the solar temp sensor on the dashboard, but I don't think I'll need to worry about that as that should only be required for the 'AUTO' function, which I've never bothered using in any of my Toyotas in the past. All of the other A/C components and wiring appear to be the same, so fingers crossed it won't require much more work to get the heat coming through :)
In the meantime, I took these night shots of the unit as I love the blue hue it produces when the headlights are on:

Hi Full-Throttle, What model Erisin is your unit for the Aurion?
Cheers
It's the Erisin ES7668M. The one in this link: http://www.erisin.com/erisin-es7668m-8-car-dvd-player-gps-sat-navi-3g-iphone5-vmcd-toyota-aurion-camry_p547.html
They even have this crazy detachable tablet one, but I couldn't ever see myself needing that functionality: http://www.erisin.com/erisin-es7851c-7-capacitive-android-404-pad-car-dvd-player-for-camry_p473.html

What about reverse camera do u have this installed? If yes does it have the marks on the screen to indicate how close things are? Thanks.
I don't have a factory reversing camera on my Aurion but I have an aftermarket one that will be arriving soon. The grid lines will only be displayed if you're using the factory park assist computer as aftermarket cameras/headunits usually don't have this function built-in. I find that it's just as easy to park using the bumper as a guide, but may look at finding a factory park assist computer either from a GSV40 or GSV50 if I can get one cheap enough :)

I am surprised you were as successful as you were.
In contrast to other Toyota models, the Aurion is a bit special in that it also uses a servo-actuator for mode setting in both the manual and climate control models - which is why you were able to get it working as well as you did.
However in the Presara/ZR6 models, the temperature is also adjusted via an electric servo whereas the knob cable operates the temperature in the base models.
I'm not sure whether the heater cores are the same with the only difference between the presence or not of the electric servo - this is normally the case in many newer Toyota models that offer both manual air con and climate control. The climate control models also have both interior and exterior temperature sensors as well.
You've most likely gotten the most out of a conversion most people could get without considerably more wiring/parts
I'm pretty sure that the heater core and whole A/C assembly is the same between the manual controls and electronic controls, but I'll have to take a close look when I get back to work next week. I work at a wrecker who sells nothing else but Toyota parts so comparing the two systems is pretty easy and as luck would have it we have both types of heater cores already removed from the vehicles so the first thing I'll look at is the servo to control the hot/cold mix. With a bit of luck I'll just have to switch them over and it will starting moving to the 'hot' position B)
Scott, I think you should try get it completely sorted, would be pretty awesome.
I think so too. I've come this far, so might aswell try and complete it properly ^_^

Looks good. What gps software is it running ie igo?
Are the back lit lights customizable ie in your pictures they are blue can u change them?
Please continue to update any new features you find. Thanks.
Yep it runs iGo software for the GPS. You can change the back light for the buttons etc in the menu. There were quite a few colours to choose from when I looked. It was originally red but I changed it to blue to match the interior better. You can change the screen backgrounds too with built-in or custom images via SD/USB. One thing I've noticed with all aftermarket Camry/Aurion headunits is that they're obviously designed for the LHD market as the volume knob is on the left rather than on the right (heck, even the whole centre console curves slightly to the left, lol), which means you have to stretch your arm a bit to adjust the volume, however that's when the steering wheel controls really come in handy, and so far this new headunit seems to be compatible with all of the original SWCs.

Reviving an old thread here, but I did this swap today and was mostly successful. After spending a lot of time comparing the real-life wiring connectors between the manual controls and digital controls I came to the conclusion that Toyota used the exact same connector for the rear of the A/C control panel, except mirrored the wires vertically/diagonally. What I initially did was shave the clip off my connector so I could flip it around and plug it into the digital unit, but when I did this there was no power to the unit at all, whereas putting it in the original way allowed the unit to get power to the unit (screen illuminated but with no words/symbols and only a couple of buttons worked). So to cut a long story short, if I plugged to digital unit in using the original knob-type connector the screen would illuminate but you could't control the unit for any function other than the rear screen demister and making the A/C button light up. Determined to make this work, I ended up changing the A/C amplifier under the dash while I was replacing the cabin filter today. To my amazement this actually worked! And the display lit up with all of the symbols and I was able to use all of the buttons + turn the temperature up and down etc. There is however only one problem - I can't get it to blow warm or hot air whatsoever. A/C on cold works perfectly but no hot air regardless of what setting or temp I put it on. I''m guessing this has to do with the lack of the cabin temperature sensor (I have one sitting here but haven't hooked it up). Either that or one of the wires that controls the hot/cold mixer isn't cross-compatible with the original plug.So to sum it up:* I now have awesome digital controls that look so much better than the oldschool knobs.* I only had to change the A/C amplifier under the dash to make it work.* All functions, air speeds, vent directions etc work fine.* Can only get cold air, no hot air.* Original A/C amplifier part # is: 88650-06250* Digital A/C amplifier part # is: 89660-06160Conclusion: Even though I'm not getting any heat now that I've installed this unit, I'm seriously considering leaving it in and just throwing an extra jumper on during the colder mornings as even though I had full functionality with the previous knob-type A/C display, I absolutely detest the look of such a dated design in an otherwise very modern looking car, so if freezing my ***** off means I don't have to look at them then that's a compromise I'm willing to make :D

I installed my Erisin unit today and so far I'm very impressed, especially for the low price. It does everything I expected and everything lines up as it should. Would definitely recommend them to other Aurion owners :)

After much thought, I ordered this Erisin unit off eBay this week: http://www.ebay.com/itm/231452401614?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
For only $290 AUD with free shipping it sounds like a bargain, so I'm looking forward to it's arrival. What stood out for me compared to other units was that it has 3 USB ports (1 on the front and 2 on the rear) so I can have my USB cables tucked up under the dash, and it has an external microphone input for Bluetooth so I can mount the mic in the factory position up on the roof map light. Before buying I was able to email the seller to make sure it came with New Zealand GPS maps too, so that's always a bonus :)
Shortly after I bought it on eBay I discovered I could have got it a bit cheaper by buying it directly through their website (just my luck, lol) but for the price it appears to be a great unit for the money. This is a link to their website if you want to get it a bit cheaper compared to their eBay listing: http://www.erisin.com/erisin-es7668m-8-car-dvd-player-gps-sat-navi-3g-iphone5-vmcd-toyota-aurion-camry_p547.html
Just be aware that the unit you listed is WinCE based and not Android as the Eonon units in the group buy are. This is not a issue if you are going to use the unit as is with no intentions to customise or install new/alternative apps.
Yep, I'm aware of this :). I have no intentions of installing any apps as I have my smartphone for that B)

Thanks!! :D
Absolutely love it! Should source some retractable side view mirrors :)
He already has those :PHaha, yep, already got those. My car has them from factory as it's the SE Limited model. The mirrors in that eBay link are for the 8th Gen Corolla, which uses a different switch and, interestingly, doesn't include the relay in the auction to make it work, lol.

A few photos that I took today:
Looking at Camry/Aurion specific head units

No problem :). The reverse camera input is a single RCA connector, whereas the factory camera uses an OEM plug, so you'd have to cut the wires for the camera off the connector and wire it to a female RCA socket. It works perfectly with the factory steering wheel controls and has a learning mode in the menu. So basically what happens is you push the button in the menu (for example: VOL+) and then press the corresponding VOL+ button on the steering wheel and it will 'pair' that function and work as normal. There has been a couple of times where the unit has 'forgotten' that I've paired the buttons and I've had to quickly go into the menu and re-pair them, but it seems to have started behaving itself now.
