2 grand rebuild? u might as well grab a brand new one at MWR with a TRD LSD inside for 2.6
good point ! that 2 grand does include the labour required which is most of the cost so if you can do it your self i think it only costs about 1 grand for the bearings , seals and all the syncros.
Just remember to include freight.. and just be thankful your not driving a four wheel drive hatch, my brother recently broke the selector fork on his GTi-R and for the record, you basically have to pull out the engine for just about everything on that POS. he's looking at a little over 900 dollars just in labour, this is excluding parts.
I don't think work on a Stivo gearbox would cost you over 2k, that just sounds silly.. but yes, change your gearbox oil coz that just might resolve the problem temporarily.
Just think about the difference you'd be paying in terms of simply changing the oil, compared to something breaking in there, true?

Actually I do know one for speeding.
"I had just came back from Europe (Germany) and I was pretty used to speeds there of about 140km/s etc
Sorry I forgot I was back in Australia"
Or you can just get your mate in the back to act like a pregnant women giving birth and say your in a hurry to get the the hospital
OR!
Officer: "I was doing about 140~150ks just to catch up to you"
You: "U jelly?" :D
-
dont know any excuses for speeding, but if its a burnout you can always blame the clutch
"errrr it was get clutch officer"

I like the sweet sound of my engine note

that kit still wont fit. The kits designed for Left Hand Drive vehicles dont fit cars in Aus.
Best way is to have a local shop fabricate a steam pipe manifold and pipework to suit your car.
Good point, thanks for pointing that out too.. I was looking at Xoom's thread, 11k is heaps but it sounds right too

I think this is more like it:
http://www.turbo-kits.com/corolla_turbo_kits.html
Your probably looking at around 3 to 4 grand for the kit.
But yeah, there's a lot of extras if you want to work the internals, I don't know how much boost the engine can hack with out causing too much wear.. I'm quite noob when it comes to forced induction tho, but I been reading up hear and there.
I heard anywhere from around 6-8 psi should be fine without working the internals, but I'd never risk it.
Can someone elaborate on this?

Hey guys,
I don't know whether anyone here has seen or read all of this, but there is a "tuner" somewhere in spain that has made an absolute mess of their mitsubishi eclipse.
He basically paints over every part and fails at welding, not only that he does stupid idiotic stuff like taking apart a brand new clutch by putting a grinder to it, to fix his old one LOL!
He's favourite paints are red and blue, so the thing basically comes out looking like Optimus Prime, and surprisingly.. the car still works.. this is probably for the more car savy people, but have a read anyways, it gets better around the 8th or 9th page haha!
Enjoy!

That's some really nice numbers for a Colt
Kudos man, keep up the awesome work.
Lovin' this build thread, you got a really sweet rig there man

There is just way too much gap between the tyres and the wheel arches stock imo. They look like monster trucks from the factory :) Ok not that bad.
Rally Spec!! :)
Haha! mine is currently missing side skirts so it sits even higher now lol
Had them stolen some time ago... I'm too lazy to fix
Will be soon tho, I been saying that for some time now
p.s. I love rotaries!! best next engine note next to a boxster engine.. CHOICE MAN!! CHOICE! kudos for owning some awesomeness

Hey Josh,
According to Vicroads, you only need around 100mm clearance from the lowest point of your car, which give you heaps of options to play with really.
IMO, I'd probably invest more in coilovers rather that just springs tho.. but each to there own I guess.
but yeah, if your worried about attracting attention from the cops, then you should probably check out the vicroads site before modding anything. If you do happen to get pulled over, just use the same excuse everyone does, that your about to sell it and it's your last drive before the buyer comes picks it up, they usually let you go after that. But yeah, don't use it too often, if it happens and you get away with it, take it as a warning and fix your sh!t before you get pulled over again.
Depending on how low you go as well, you might want to take a look at the offset on your wheels as well. IMO lowering your car can make or break it, you probably want the tire to sit flush (if not, almost flush) with the fenders, not too far in or out. This could mean either a new set of rims (legal) or hub adapters (certainly not legal), but yeah. Australia has probably some of the toughest laws regarding this crap, only because it's a nanny state.. you can blame your Techno listening Muzztech Warriors wearing their poofy bumbags on 95 degree angle driving their mums fully sick VN Bombadores, thinking they own the streets for that.
In short, try the vicroads site for more info on ride hide and you should be sweet.
Best of luck with it tho, man

This one has an automotive theme and seems to be more in line with this forum
lets be honest here though, how many "Automotive Themed" posts do you see in the Lights, Camera... Action section?
there's a few, but most of it is just 'hey check out how bizarre/funny/interesting/strange this clip is'

Sometimes you just have to say... WTF?

I hope this guy is trolling... otherwise I'd be extremely worried

Typical Johnny to work under a car like that.
Everything that guy does is dangerous, Danger should probably be his middle name

Quickest Car: My brothers heavily modified Nissan Pulsar GTi-R, the thing is ripping out about 190kw at the wheels, the thing scares the living crap out of me..
Only downside to it is, the turbo is a little too big so the turbo lag is quite substantial. :-/
Funniest Car: A rental Daihatsu Charade we got while we were repairing the family car, I remember going onto a freeway with that thing with four people in it and each of us throwing our bodies around to see if we can make it get to 100, sadly the most it got to was 80.. great laugh tho

hey all...
just a quick question.
Will a quick shifter set up that was installed on a pre facelift sportivo, fit on a 05 facelift sportivo??
any comments & help is much appreciated!
it's the same car really? the only differences is the 'facelift' other than that, there is nothing technically different about them?

where's the build threat to my car?
I think that should be linked here too
