To be very honest, I have not driven any previous Corollas before (owned a 1995 Ford laser before), so sorry cannot comment on how this compares with 89 corolla. But I really like this car compared to my old laser. Good fuel economy, smooth and quite ride, advanced features and safety measures etc.

Spoken to my dealer yesterday re price for rear parking sensors: Toyota Genuine = $550 Aftermarket = $400

This post serves to give potential buyer a price indication / comparison for a new facelifted Corolla. Please post here the price you pay for your new Corolla (Accent, Conquest, Levin etc) and the dealer you went for.... The idea is to invite more "Toyotarian"...... To make it easier for potential buyer to read, please follow the following format. Please only post your car price, do not ask or critisise anything here. Remember the idea is to invite more Corolla buyers... ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Car = Corolla Levin ZR Manual Hatch Colour = Graphite (Metallic paint) Basic accessories and add-ons: 1) Carpet set 2) Boot liner 3) Window Tint 4) X Pack protection 5) Metallic Paint Drive-away price for the above = $31,095 Dealership = Truscott Toyota Five Docks, 151-153 Parramatta Road, NSW Dealer = Ray Wong (Must speak to him to get this deal, as I found others within the same dealership have a slightly higher price) Remarks: Have checked price(s) from Sydney City Toyota, ptice is about $1000 - $1500 higher.

I think $26,000 is a pretty good starting point of negotiation. Just my opinion.

I am not sure which dealer you got the price from, but I think you MAY be able get another $500 or even more if you are lucky. This is just based on what I paid for my 2010 Corolla Levin ZR. I am guessing the $27,500 has already included for some extras so that's why he says giving away the bootliner and mat for free. I got quotes from few dealers here in Sydney and the last one I got from Truscott Toyota (at Five Docks) ended up the cheapest. Speak to the guy called "Ray Wong". He is very helpful and willing to push the price down based on the overall package (car + extra). The Standard price for Conquest is $24,500 + $2000 (automatic) + onroad + dealers delivery + stamp duty, so $29,000 does sounds right. Mine (Levin ZR) standard price is $28,900 + onroad + dealers delivery + stamp duty = $32,000. Actual driveaway cost for car + boot liner + mat = $29,063 (other extras I purchased have been excluded here so you get a "more-or-less" apple-to-apple comparison) I would suggest that you target the drive away price (including mat + bootliner + onroad + dealers + stamp duty) as $24,500 ~ $24,700, plus $2,000 for automatic. This gives you about $26,500 ~ 26,700. Hope the above is not too confusing and helps. Good luck. Johnny

Personally I use this stuff: http://www.carcareproducts.com.au/product/...rate/default-33 It's quite reasonably priced and works very well, lasts forever because you only need about 2 capfuls for a whole bucket, and smells like cherries to boot :) The other big tip (which you may know already) is to use the 2-bucket method of washing. This just means having two buckets, one with car wash shampoo in it, and the other just having plain water. When washing, dip your wash-mitt/sponge in the shampoo, then use it to wash the dirt off, then after doing a panel, rinse the mitt in the plain water bucket. This rinses the dirt and grime into the "dirty" bucket, and stops it getting back into the "clean" bucket where it will end up going back onto the car and leave micro-scratches in the paint work. Toyota Australia are forgetting that they sourced cars from South Afrika too Got some updates from the web today, that pedal fix may not be the "real" solution to all cases. The ETCS-I could be the source of the problem??!!! Are Corollas here in Australia having the same brand and type design for ETCS-I as in US (e.g. CTS versus Denso)? Anybody heard issue / failure of the ETCS-I in cars sold in Australia?

Hey, it's your money I'm not bothered how you spend it - as you noticed you got a slightly better price on the car, so I suppose you could rationalise it as "part of the package" :) They claim there is a warranty on the paint, so if it does get marked from bird poop, tree sap etc they'll in theory detail it out for you - I have heard some horror stories about trying get actually get the warranty honoured though. My suggestion would be to wax your car every 3-6 months anyway with a good quality canubra wax regardless of your protection package, and make sure you wash the car with a wax-friendly detergent (which they seem to give you with the package I gather?) every 2-4 weeks. That way you'll be doubly insured - and your car will look great! I have heard of some people who think they can get the paint package, then not wash their car for 3 years and expect it to be in perfect condition - just ain't gonna happen thanks a lot for the advice. Much appreciated. Any suggestion on wax-friendly car wash product?

Mine's exactly the same. Although I ended up with the paint protection as well, I must have gotten too excited when the sales person mentioned it. He forgot to mention that I had to stick with the car wash kit that they provide and come back for an inspection to keep the protection under warranty. What brand paint protection did you get? I got x-pack which does not require inspection to maintain warranty??

The ZRE facelift comes with a new factory stereo, it comes with a large colour screen. I'm using the latest Ipod classic so I assume the Ipod nano should be fine, the controls via stereo for the ipod is a little confusing i.e the controls aren't linear or it could just be me...Initially I thought they threw in a Satnav but it wasn't. Edit: I'm assuming the Levin SX will come with the same factory stereo as the Levin ZR John Thanks John for the info on the Ipod. Look forward to the pics. =) TO: johnnieboi. Hi congrats on your purchase. Your price is pretty good, just $500 more expensive. In regards to the paint protection, I do understand this but I took it as an insurance protection. I am sure you won't agree but it's just my personal view.

Further to Toyota Australia's confirmation that the Toyota cars sold in Australia are NOT subject to the recall, I found this article on web seems to give a bit more detail on what car(s) are affected. In summary: 1) Problem pedals are from CTS 2) Denso pedals are okay no problem 3) Cars built in Japan (with a VIN number starting with " J ") are not subjected to recall, as Japan use Denso pedal assembly. 4) For cars built in North America, refer to the web link for details (it depends on Toyota model, Camry is a bit more complicated) http://www.insideline.com/toyota/toyota-pe...t-affected.html Please correct me here if I said something incorrect above.... Thanks! I ordered mine during late October, I wasn't expecting to get the facelift until they told me mid November. The date on my chassis says Dec 09 and I received mine near the end of Jan It usually takes 3 months if you've ordered one from Toyota that still needs to be built, may be a bit longer if you've also ordered a moonroof to go along with it. Thanks a lot. Would you mind post a few more pics for the interior (seats, steering etc)? Is the climate AC a dual zone or single zone?

Hi Hawk, No problem mate. The Toyota Australia website / brochure was not very clear on what type of paint (metallic or pearlescent/Mica) they use, so I went to www.toyota.co.nz to check. They have JUST release the new facelifted corolla (same look as ours here). In summary; Glacier White - Not metallic nor Mica Silver Pearl - Metallic Shimmer - Mica metallic (not sure what that means, may be both??) Tidal Blue - Metallic Wildfire (Red) - Mica metallic Graphite - Metallic Ink (Black) - Mica Tha above information were extracted from NZ website. I assume they are the same as Australia but cannot be sure or validated. Hope this helps. Johnny

Hi oki, Thank you for your comment above. I have thought of this (X-pack vs Moonroof) too, but I have seen some forum regarding the potential leak from moonroof in the long run so I gave it a miss. Probably moonroof nowadays is better and will last long? I am planning to keep the car for many years (I had the last car for 14 years) so I took the X-pack as an additional "protection". I had some "teflon" paint protection for my last car and worked pretty good IMO (ease of washing, maintaining shine even when sold after 14 years). I wasn't expecting the protection to last forever (although they say it's life time) but adding protection for couple more of years is all I need. Perhaps normal wax and gloss could do the same. Regarding the price you mentioned, what car and option(s) did you get and what price? Thanks again for the comment. Johnny

(the salesperson said they MAY be able to do $27,000, I have not re-confirmed with them afterwards) Ascent and Conquest have been released already. Corolla Levin ZR Manual Hatch (Facelifted): Colour = Graphite (Metallic paint) Basic accessories added: 1) Carpet set 2) Boot liner The cost for the car with the above accessories, rego fee, compulsory third party, premium plate (black text on white plate, $80), dealer delivery, document fee, stamp duty etc etc = $29,000 (GST inclusive) Other extra option(s) added: A) Window tint - Street Legal (have been told this one is the maximum legal tint but provide a better visibility at night from inside) = $400 (GST inclusive, normally $5xx) B) X Pack protection (exterior paint, leather, carpet & fabric, vinyl) = $1,695 (GST inclusive, normally $1,9xx) Therefore all up = $31,095 (drive away, GST inclusive), approximately 13%-14% discount off the normal retail drive away price. I bought the car from Truscott Toyota Five Docks, 151-153 Parramatta Road. If you are interested, go and speak to Ray Wong. He is very helpful and will give you very unbiased recommendations on what you should get and what should not. I have checked the price from other toyota dealer(s) in Sydney and found that their price is the best I found. It's because they are franchise of Toyota. Therefore their price is a bit more "flexible" than Sydney City Toyota. Price difference is in the order of $1000 to $1500. Hi all, I am a newbie here....I have just ordered a new 2010 Corolla Levin ZR, due to arrive in Feb 2010... got a few questions wonder if anyone could help me out here... - does the engine require run-in (or break-in)? or has the engine been "pre-run-in" in factory? - would you use octane 91, 95 or 98? Note: same engine as 2009 model i.e. 2ZR-FE - at what km should I take my car to Toyota for the first 'Complimentary Vehicle Inspection'? I believe this inspection does not include oil and filter change. Would you recommend oil and filter change? Thanks Johnny
