  1. Hi there guys after some opinions of what people have used/using with these rims. I'm thinking 235/45/18 and potenzas depending on price looking to spend 250 - 350 per corner.

Going by tyre calculator im guessing each bellow is fine.

225/45R18 Speedometer Difference: 1.315% too fast

235/45R18 Speedometer Difference: 0.037% too slow

    So far i have found

    Bridgestone Adrenalin Potenza RE001 - 225/45R18

    Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 - 225/45R18

    Pirelli PZero Nero 235/45R18

    Kumho pcr ku21 225/45 R18 RF $359.70 235/45R18 $374

  2. From memory there is 3 wires 1 gets earthed 1 wire does track up down volume up down then the last wire is the mode. When measured with a multimeter the values were very close (mode+track down) and the swi-jack (steering wheel control module) was only picking up 1 function so i cut the wire and added the resistor inline but that was for using the swi-jack not an auspack unit.

  3. I tried to fix something that wasn't really broken and now i've caused myself a bit of a problem...

I had read on these forums that a nice little work around to be able to quickly change songs while navigating using GPS mode is to change the function of the MODE button on the steering wheel to flick to and from gps mode. I did this by entering the configuration menu via the AUX mode. While i was here, I thought I might try and change the next/previous buttons to be the other way around (like the default head unit). This is my problem! No matter what i seem to do, both buttons are always programmed to do the same thing - both buttons skip to the next track, or if i try to fix it both skip to the previous track.

Is there some trick to using this configuration menu? Has anyone had the same problem?

I dont have a auspack headunit but when i was programming my steering wheel controls i had to use a 660 ohm resistor due the values of 2 buttons been so close together (mode & track down) so mode worked fine but when i went track down it would change the mode on head unit.

  4. Dont know if insurance would cover that if you set it off your self modding your car. I usually just put a bit of masking tape over the key barrel to remind me to much effort disconnecting battery and re tuning radio stations lol.

Each to their own mate, but it's your safety/money at play there. Regardless of the ignition being on or not, the airbag control module can still have power applied to it. Having an airbag go off in your hands is not going to be a pretty sight.

Dont get me wrong im not recommending to do it my way for someone who is doing it for the first time but someone who works on cars 5 days a week for last 5 yrs i have a quicker process which i have said above which alot of other co-workers use the same process but every car is different so you pick and choose.

  5. Just dont turn your key on while the airbag is disconnected.

To add to that, you should disconnect your battery and wait at least 90 seconds before disconnecting the airbag.

Then after that, it shouldn't matter if your accidentally turn your ignition on while the airbag is disconnected. But the whole disconnecting the battery thing isn't for this reason... it's for safety reasons. That said, I still feel a little bit on the edge every time I have to unplug an airbag. The through of it going off kind of scares me.

Ingres, you saw me remove your airbag before when I fitted your foglights right?

  6. Window Tinting getting done tomorrow and 3 out of 4 kappas in 18's should arrive by Friday along with dba 4000 slotted rotors maybe street series slotted for rear along HPX brake pads :D Saturday looks like a busy day.

  7. No real dramas i would have liked to take out the " P N R D S" plastic thing but it was sorta melted in place like it had a lug with locating hole and had been melted together and also in the centre of the air con control knobs got around the outside of the knobs not just the front part where green light is.

Also forgot to add that by end of next week i might be in posession of some KAPPA rims.

  8. todays update conists of repainting centre console to get rid of scratches.

  9. I had a gloss black dash in my last car (VT commodore) - it might look alright, but it's not everybodies cup of tea obviously. It's a very distinct look, but then so is carbon fibre.

I don't think you could get a suitable vinyl cover for gloss black, meaning painting is your only option which carries some risk. My commodore dash was a brand new OEM item for the monaro's, and actually came with a transparent plastic sealing over the paint to protect it. A gloss black would look great painted, but would be very prone to slight scratches and would require constant maintenance. I would also recommend a pro paint it as gloss black is a very unforgiving color.

After sleeping on it i think i will just stick to silver, i will probably just get the aurion silver ash colour made up and do all centre console strips on the doors and around steering wheel controls. To scared to attemp black lol.

    EDIT i meant titan sliver.

  10. I've still got my Pedders springs in their original boxes from before i fitted the coilovers,i just had a squiz and the part numbers on the boxes are 2959 & 2958 not sure front and rear as it dosen't say and i can't remember if they were put back in the correct boxes anyway.

So i suppose mention these part numbers a see what they say,if they still say no go to another Pedders store or buy my old ones. :P

How much you offering your old ones for?

i have found the following part numbers i will put up for anyone else interested

    Front ktfl-63sl

    rear ktrl-61sl

currently looking at DBA rotars aswell.

  11. Went to pedders this morning and apparently they only do a coilover set $2100 fitted. I was under the impression that they did a spring and shock combo fitted for roughly $800 - $1000. Anyone had any experiences?

Hey mate,Pedders do NOT do a spring/shock combo only the coilovers as you mentioned,i went thru this exercise a couple of months back and went the coilovers, they even went as far as pulling it all apart to find out nothing they had fitted...anyway much happier with the Pedders coilovers and $2000 fitted seems about right.

KYB make a shock to go with the Pedders/Kings springs.

Thanks for reply, i have done abit of researching and going by pedders site they do just coil springs although the guy told me they didnt so i will ring back on monday to see. I would like to get the coil overs but then i will never hear the end of it from the devil plus cuts into my wheel funds.

I will also do some searching for kyb shocks as well.
