  1. Have had the reversing camera from auspacks installed for a few weeks now. All working fine until a few days ago. All I get now is a blue screen with the word car in the top left hand corner.

Has this happened to anyone else and if so how didi you fix it.

I've checked all the connections at the camera end and they are alll fine

If anyone can help then it would be greatly apprrecaited.

    Thanks

    Hi Plugger

Have you been able to put a multimeter on the power input for the camera. The symptoms sound like the reverse signal connection to the headunit is OK (ie. getting 12 volts from reverse circuit), but there is no video signal being sent to the headunit. This could be power related, connection related or camera not working (hope it is not the latter for you).

    Cheers

    Michael

  2. it actually runs so much nicer with the new injectors feels so much crisper when you accelerate
It's like they can't get everything right.

but fancy you say that daryl cause i went to start it this morning and the c*nt wouldnt start!!! this just makes me want to sell it now more then ever, this will be the third week that toyota has had it when i take it in on monday, im over it.

    Hi Rowan

Sorry to hear of your dramas and the continual holiday your beast is having at Toyota. If nothing else, at least it'll be well sorted, and you might decide not to sell. <_<

    Cheers mate

  3. quote- Even though the sub is right up the front and it around 300mm deep I think it will need to be removed to take out the spare wheel (haven't tested this though).

I had this drama doing my amps & sub, then i checked out what the manufacture said was the correct size for my sub,and i was surprised it was 1/2 the size the guys at the audio store were trying to sell me...this made sense as it had to be custom made not straight off their shelf, and now the sub & 2 amps use about 1/3 or a little more at most of my boot space and access to the spare is no prob, sounds very punchy aswell,i have the sub facing thru the back seat boot access hatch, centre armrest/drink holder down for bass thumping, closed for when less bass required...

sorry if i've gone overboard with this reply,i just get a little excited with car audio... ;)

Hey Lee, you've really got a great setup. I'm impressed how little space into the rear boot area that your sub setup takes. That's the advantage of a bit of research and guys who know what they are doing...good one. Can understand your excitement with car audio.

  4. Hi All,

I'm thinking about buying an Aurion (AT-X or SX6) soon, and if I do I'll probably get a Vais SL2i iPod interface installed. Some questions for those of you who have the Vais kit:

    1. Does the unit function in CD-MP3 mode with the Aurion? Does this give easy access to playlists on the iPod?

    2. If CD-MP3 mode doesn't work and you have to use standard CD mode, do you still get track names displayed on the head unit (ie. CD Text)?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there

I've got one of these (the earlier SLI model from memory) on a factory satnav system in a Prado. I'm certain the way in which it operates is exactly the same though.

It works fine in CD-MP3 mode and gives access to playlists and shows tracknames, etc on the headunit. I'm 99% confident that I have read that it works the same on the headunits similar to yours.

As a matter of interest, if things haven't changed very recently the Vais units work completely off playlists. That is, you can't select albums, artitsts, genre, etc...not a biggie for me. These units are fantastic and well worth it in my opinion. The sound quality is very good.

    Cheers

    Michael

  5. Thank looks fanastic :toast: :toast: :toast: .

I have the Eclipse avn6000 getting installed soon and if it looks as great as yours installed i will be happy.

that is a great idea to have the parcel shelf also dynamated, Will also ask the installers to dynamat the rear shelf as well.

How did you find the size of the rear camera and where was it positioned?

As this is the exact one i am also getting installed.

You'll be happy with you new kit. Dynamat was a good idea. Wasn't going to do it, but it really helps deaden things more, particularly in the doors. Less outside noise comes in to the car as well.

As for the camera, it was mounted in the factory hole which had a cover over it. From what I have seen with the factory camera on the Presara, this setup looks exactly the same. I'm guessing Toyota use the same Eclipse BEC-106 camera in that as the angles match the cutout really well.

  6. Looks great Michael...Well done, glad it all turned out the way ya wanted. :toast:

Are ya going to install sub & amps in the future? and the boot up time on your Eclipse is great, about the same as the Alpine i've got, some of the h/units i looked at took forever to load up...

Thanks for the comments. Yeah boot up time is good, and changeover time between any source is instantaneous.

A couple of weeks ago I made up a sealed sub to fit in the front section of the boot directly behind the seat (the full width). It has two (2) eight (8) inch subs I had in a previous Clubsport and runs off a 100-200 watt (can't quite remember) amp. Even though it is homemade and has eight inch drivers in, it gives out great kick. I took it out prior to the install and haven't had a chance to put it back in.

I was hoping that I might not need a sub with the new AV package, but I think I will. I can't expect 6x9s to go as low as I'd like, but it is a bit boomy. Maybe the new speakers need a bit of running in as well. Trouble with subs is that they limit access to the spare wheel and my wife will be driving this on occasion. Even though the sub is right up the front and it around 300mm deep I think it will need to be removed to take out the spare wheel (haven't tested this though).

My previous Clubbie had 2 eight inch subs mounted in the parcel shelf and the bass was fantastic. Has anyone thought or seen this done with the Aurion. If I could somehow get them mounted in between the 6x9s and still get decent bass response, I would really consider this. Probably will have a chat to Phil at Northfield as well.

Not too sure about the amp for the rest of the kit. I don't want to go real loud, but I have heard that it will clean up the sound just that bit better.

    Anyway all fun so far.

  7. Guys

Thought I'd share some info and pics of some Eclipse kit I got installed in my Aurion yesterday. Phil and the guys at Northfield Macgregor looked after me really well and installed the following :

    - Eclipse AVN726EA Head Unit

    - Eclipse SC6900 Splits Up Front

    - Eclipse SC6900 Splits Rear (they discovered the CP6910s were too deep and hit the boot springs, so gave me splits)

    - Eclipse BC-106 Rear Camera

    - Eclipse iPod Interface Cable

    - Dynamat in front doors and rear parcel shelf

An excellent and clean installation. Headunit sits in a Toyota facia, and whilst does not quite look factory as the standard Toyota or aftermarket (Auspacks, etc) units, it is very tidy and clean. Speakers are well hidden and you can't tell they are there.

One thing Phil found as this was their first install of splits in the rear of an Aurion was to mount the tweeters on the outside edge of the speaker itself (under the parcel shelf) and drill out fine holes in the plastic speaker grill itself (it is wider than the 6x9 mount). You can't even see it unless you get up close...very stealth.

1stKill...for the questions asked in the other forum, yes this is the new Eclipse model released a month or more ago. To load up from cold to listening to music, etc only takes a few seconds. Steering wheel controls all work perfectly just like the factory job. Even the music track select on the steering wheel works the right way.

The GPS is the NavTek Nav'n'Go product just like on the Windows CE variants (Auspacks, etc) but the maps are read from internal flash memory. Maps are initially loaded by SD card behind the screen.

At the end is a video showing boot up time.

    Here's some photos.

Rear Camera View (crappy dark nightshot)

SUNA Live Traffic Feeds Overview Screen

    SUNA - Traffic Congestion

    SUNA - Road Works

    SUNA - Accident

    iPod View

Here's a video which shows how long boot up is. Sorry for the picture quality.

Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load!

    Any questions, please ask.

    Cheers

  8. Had the following installed in my Aurion Sportivo ZR6 :

    - Eclipse AVN726E

    - Eclipse SC6900 Splits Up Front

    - Eclipse SC6900 Splits Rear (they discovered the CP6910s were too deep so gave me splits)

    - Eclipse BC-106 Rear Camera

    - Eclipse iPod Interface Cable

    - Dynamat in front doors and rear parcel shelf

So far I'm wrapped. Will run it in and enjoy the music. Thanks Northfield Macgregor.

Very very nice...some pics of ya H/Unit would be great,is this the new model just realeased?... B)

btw...how long dose the new H/Unit take to load up when ya 1st turn it on and did ya keep the steering wheel controls? sorry for all the questions,i think i looked or read about this unit when i was buying.

Yes very happy with it. I'll start a new thread in the "Audio/Video/Electronics" section with piccies and other details.

  9. Prado will easily tow an 800kg camper. I tow something like that (soft top offroad camper) regularly with my 4.0 V6.

The Grande is very well appointed an in my opinion is right up there in the "luxury" stakes. Not sure of the differences between the Grande and VX nowadays, but the Toyota website will show you. From memory, things like satnav, auto levelling airbag suspension, ride adjustable electronic shockies, cooler/fridge, rear camera just to name a few (VX has leather now).

    Check out Prado Specs.

Also noticed that both V6 and Turbo Diesel have a vehicle towing capacity (with trailer brakes) of 2500kg.

    Cheers

  10. Had the following installed in my Aurion Sportivo ZR6 :

    - Eclipse AVN726E

    - Eclipse SC6900 Splits Up Front

    - Eclipse SC6900 Splits Rear (they discovered the CP6910s were too deep so gave me splits)

    - Eclipse BC-106 Rear Camera

    - Eclipse iPod Interface Cable

    - Dynamat in front doors and rear parcel shelf

So far I'm wrapped. Will run it in and enjoy the music. Thanks Northfield Macgregor.

  11. I went to a car audio sale today, the guy there was trying to sell me the latest Eclipse avn762ea saying it is plug and play with the Aurion, can anyone confirm this? I would usually believe him but he also said that the AVN-6000 does not have a steering wheel control unit in it, saying he had a lot of experience with that head unit, which goes against what ive read on this forum, the AVN-6000 being one of the two units (the other being Auspacks) that allows you to retain wheel controls.

The price he was giving me for the 762 was $1700

    and a ex-demo AVN-6000 for $1200

The AVN726EA most definitely will work with the Aurion. There is a bit of software which the installer puts on it to make it work (via CD) and is downloaded from Eclipse. It is imported from the CD from a menu on the unit.

How do I know this? I am looking at getting one of these from Northfield Macgregor, and Phil (who owns a TRD 3500S) who installs these, has this in his car (and demo'd it to me).

Also off topic, but he has done some great mods to his car including Audi-style LEDs inside the headlight (which look absolutely fantastic), LEDs mounted above (and hidden) interior door handles, and a sweet sounding exhaust. :P

BTW...great price for the unit alone. What audio sale was that?

    Cheers

    Michael

  12. Just something simple, haven't clean it yet, the road today is so dirty .. hahaha.. Sorry for the bad photos also, just a quick snap and post

Hey Ingres...looks hot. when you can are you able to say where you got them done and what cost.

Would love a video to hear what they sound like.

    Cheers

  13. A battery that has been run flat just to the point where it doesn't have enough charge to turn the engine over would usually take a fair bit of driving before it can get some good stable charge back. If it has been run flat by quite a bit, then there may be no hope left for it. Usually it would help if you could get your hands on a proper car battery charger and let it charge for a day and see how it goes.

If you choose/have to replace it though, most general purpose car batteries will do the trick for you. No need to go with something way over the top. When I have replaced batteries in the past, I usually just get a Bosch or Exide battery.

thanks daryl, yeah the battery is 4 years old and a family friend also with a rav 4 said his shat itself after 4 years aswell.

4 years is not bad for a RAV4 nowadays (with modern day electronics). We just sold my wife's RAV4 and the battery in it was previously replaced after 3.5 years. We got RACQ out to do the lot...all too easy and their batteries come with good warranty, etc.

  14. As I said, I'm a Newbie to all this forum stuff,

you all know, one never just owns a Celica,

you have a lusty love affair with one !

I must say, after an 18 year drought, I'm in love again, with one of the best models around, an 1989 3SGE powered beauty

    yep, she's a real Supermodel ! LOL

Welcome, Celicas certainly are timeless. I remember my first car was a Celica.

  15. Hi everyone

My name is Steve and I'm from south west sydney

We just bought a sx6 aurion 2007 model and I absolutely love it especially the green colour

We still have our old car which is a 2002 camry azura which is awesome but selling it now

I think this is a great site look forward to interacting with everyone

    Hey Steve

You'll love the Aurion. They are a great car. Would love to see some pics. Are you planning on doing anything to it, or leaving it stock?

  16. We recently sold our 2001 RAV4 Edge, but I do recall the original Bridgestone factory tyres were terrible for road noise and eventually scalloped out, even though we rotated them regularly.

We replaced them with Cooper Discoverer HT tyres and had no further issues with road noise at all. Much better.

  17. thanks for the reply, im 100% there is a problem my second service is due soon and i will take it up with Toyota AGAIN.

    i think i have version14....

my gps Start's by saying "follow the highlighted route" and " you have arrived at your destination" between them there is no talking no alerts nothing.

and its really annoying because the manual states is a voice navigation, and im having to constantly look at the screen otherwise i could easily take the wrong turn...

I have read about this elsewhere and it could be a problem with the speed sensor connection. This is used in addition to assist the calculations for the route. The usual symptoms of this are exactly as you have described. Let Toyota know about the speed sensor bit and I'm sure they will be able to resolve.
