  1. Bundoora Park is a nice one, easy enough to get to, and has a nice lookout with a reasonable size carpark we could all get some great photos at if the weather is good. Has BBQ facilities as well.

Thanks for the suggestion! Googled it and looks decent place to have bbq and take photos! I had a quick look and thinking about either River Red Gum Picnic Reserve or the Kite Run Reserve in the Bundoora Park. I'm leaning towards the Red Gum Picnic Reserve but will confirm tmr after work. Troy, what do you think? Have you been there before?

I've been there lots of times, and I'd suggest River Red Gum Picnic Reserve, trust me, the map on the web site makes it look MUCH smaller then it really is. I think those of you who are into photography will love the lookout, a great place to get photos of the cars with the city centre in the background.

  2. :) ah that's alright, if we have a catch up lunch that would be great to, I though we could meet somewhere where it's easy to get to and also that parking won't be an issue, since if we meet in the CBD it would cost money to park plus hard to find parking where everyone could park near one another. Hmm I'm not really keen on driving to the city that's all.

That's fair enough - one of the suggestions on the first page was to do a picnic in the park type thing :) But you guys know Melbourne so I'll leave it to people that'd know a nice park to go to.

  3. Ah cool.. I like to come to this meet up, only fear I have is will there b any girls *shy* lol I'm a girl that's y hehe :)

please let me know what the finally out come is, plus date and time be great to. Looking fwd to this :) cheers

Well both myself and Barb are female and we'll have our cars, plus quite a few of the guys bring their girlfriends along. Plus all the boys are pussycats

Hey, I resemble that remark! Hahaha. I may look like a bogan, but I'm as harmless as can be. Don't stress, the last meet I went to had a great bunch of friendly people there! B)

don't be scared about being shy, just be scared from the all the guys - especially Peter, guys a monster (I love you bro lol).

Hows this, how about we do a meet with the JDMST crew? They are having an end of month meet at the Pier in Docklands on Lorimer street. Right now I'm split between the two so we could just make it a joint thing. I can ask the organiser (I know the dude so should be sweet). Plus it's pretty central!

    Who's in? Me. lol.

I don't know of what this JDMST crew you speak of is, but if the same people as the last meet I went will be there, count me in! :)

Thanks mate, yeah, I love the colour, and it goes well with the tint I think!

And after seeing that picture... *goes onto evilbay to look for lowered springs and better wheels :whistling:*

  5. Good work Troy! keep it up!

Thanks mate! Like I said, nothing particularly mind blowing, but I like to think it's being looked after. Pity it didn't look it last night, lol

fantastic little car... Mrs had one, drove it from Adelaide to Townsville with no worries. Ballsy little engine...

Then we kinda lost the love with it and failed to maintain it... ended up selling it for $600 bucks and bought a commonwhore and have a new model corolla now.

Oh no, it wasn't an SX with the 4A-GE and electric everything like mine was it? Bet you're kicking yourself now that you sold it for so little?

Cute SX a freind of mine has one uses it as a daily runaround for work etc 500,000k's on clock and still going and mind you yet he doesnt drive it easy at all. so ill back you up n say sx engines= ballsy engines.

Oh absolutely, the 4A-GE is certainly a decent little engine, it LOVES to rev, the party starts at 3500rpm and by the time it's showing 7000rpm it's sung a glorious song and shown what toyota could achieve with 1.6L without forced induction back in the 80s and 90s. It never fails to bring a smile to my face and sure surprises people! Very ballsy indeed!

I'm still keen on extracting a bit more power out of it, I'm sure we all know how it is, too much power is never enough... :spiteful:

  6. Thanks to all involved for a great meet, it had a very relaxed 'feel' to it, and it was great to meet you all.

Here's the one and only pic I took, and it's not great because it was taken with my phone, but oh well.

Even had some bogan show up in a filthy SX SECA 'rolla I see, hahaha

Seriously, some AWESOME photos, well done! I wouldn't mind a high res copy of some of the pics my car is in - even if the poor old girl was absolutely filthy, the tint at least looked spot on in those pics.

  7. saw you at the lights on springy road near whitehorse rd a couple of weeks back Troy! Nobody spots me either but the blue princess stays in the driveway most days as im sleeping and the red lady... well shes still shed bound :(

You did? Cool! First time I've been spotted! And yeah, that's not far from my place, so if you're around there often you're likely to spot me a fair bit. Cool. I'm happy now that someone has spotted me, hahaha

  8. Damn it why hasn't anyone spotted me yet :(

lol, i'm sure your not the only one in that situation.

That's right... I would double check, but I'm pretty sure nobody has spotted me yet either - probably because my car doesn't really stand out, just a standard looking 1992 Corolla SECA SX with dark tint, lol

  9. Good work Troy! keep it up!

  10. Not all that much to report on this one, progress has been very slow, but any progress is still progress, right? Although most of it has been maintenance.

I put a pair of new tyres on the front, HUGE improvement.

^ Old front tyres. Yup, due to be replaced, no life left in those ^

^ New front tyres. Much better ^

The rear rotors have been replaced, all new pads all around, brake fluid flush. Stops much better now.

Clutch fluid flush and new fluid.

CAI has been done, it's a little hobo spec, but still better then the straw it was trying to suck through.

^ Home made CAI, does the job ^

Also I did the AE101 gear shifter with a lot of help from a friend, well worth doing! If you've got a manual AE92, this is one thing you have got to do, feels like it should have from the factory now! Now it's time to change the gearbox oil and see how much of an improvement that makes.

^ All done. May not look much different, but trust me, it's a HUGE improvement ^

Also I got the timing belt changed, timing set perfectly, cooling system flushed, new coolant and of course every 5000kms new oil and filter.

Running Magnatec 10W40 at the moment, thought I'd try it myself and just keep a very close eye on the dip stick (thinking it might to too thin). Did all that before an almost non-stop trip to Adelaide and back, with 4 people in the car on the way and 2 on the way back. She didn't miss a beat and averaged 6.3L per 100kms for the trip. I'm now 3000kms into my 5000kms until the next oil change and it hasn't used enough to drop on the dip stick, so maybe the magnatec isn't too bad, although I won't be using it next time (don't like the idea of it not draining properly, so next oil will be either fuchs or penrite to help flush out the magnatec), maybe the time after I'll put it back in. I'll decide on the next oil change.

Other then that, nothing really to update yet. 2011 it'll get some more work, that's for sure!

  11. Bit late now, but I recently went through a phone dilemma. I was in phases of "Yeh iphone would be awesome, is there any other phone that can do so much"

I finally found the Samsung Galaxy S and I'm the first to admit it's not perfect but a good alternative to the iphone.

If you don't mind me asking, what don't you like about the Samsung Galaxy S?

I'm pretty much sold on getting an Android based phone, my flatmate has a HTC Legend, and I like it from what I've seen of it. I also like how easy it is to make my own applications on Android.

So for me it now comes down to working out which one to get, and I'm open to anyones experiences with Android based phones.

    Thanks.
