  1. Yes the old Presara had that feature - never mind mafia - my dogs reckon it's great! It's a Queensland must in the summertime! In the Audio area the inclusion of DAB only good if you go to Brisbane, but that usb facility is great on longer trips! Anyone know how to switch off the breadcrumb type feature that shows where you have been on the GPS?
  2. I changed out my 2007 Presara for the 2012 model recently, overall it's a better car but I miss some dropped features: Toyota Link Speed warning alarm What is better is the auto head dipping, the lane change warning, the audio set up, economy monitoring, the gearbox control ( acceleration in Drive is much stronger), and the economy results. Took a while to adjust to the changed start buttom location!
  3. I had your concerns, but a recent trip Gladstone - Emerald Clermont Charters Towers Mt Garnet Innisfail Tully and back down the Bruce Highway calmed any such fears. Average consumption pulling a Jayco expanda was 15 l / 100km. At 60 l that's a range of 400km. Towed at 90 - 100km and used the lockup in top gear as a guide to best speed. Nowhere were the gas stations more than 200k apart.
  4. My Presara has 70k on it and I estimate another 5k before needing to replace - that's with 38psi - so similar results to yours - I'm happy with that. Yeah just changed the Michelins out at 73.5k with plenty left on them - I just have this thing about wet roads and speed. The Tire guys comment was that the 38 psi all round was giving extremely even wear across the tires. I reckon the the fronts had about 2k and the rears 4 k left in them. The original spare was unused so I purchased 3 new MX Michies for $259 each - so the cost of tyres is about $1 per 10k - roughly Happy with that.

  6. Hm I have had 4 replacement windscreens, on all occasions but one the wipers continued to operate as per. Windscreens O'Brien did the replacements. On the first occasion they lost a little bit that goes in the sensor housing. When I took it back they replaced it with a new one and all was OK.
  7. So same motor & gearbox? That's not a bad thing!
  8. When i got the Presara 3 years ago I ran 91. I then tried 95 and found it cheaper in terms of $ / k I then changed up to 98 and found increased power and therefore lower fuel use at the same speeds. For me, and most of my K's are on the highway, the best and cheapest fuel is 98 octane. Highway speeds are 107 k in 100 zones and 117 in 110 zones, mostly cruise controlled.
  9. Wo!! Thanks for the feedback team, I am impressed but somewhat confused by the different takes on 2011. Maybe the answer is as expressed above - go get a later Presara (mine 2007)and continue to enjoy a fine car until the new one arrives Thanks again.
  10. Looking to upgrade my 2007 Presara - call to local agent says wait to early next year, a significant upgrade is on the way. Any indicators known?
  11. $28,000 B) And thanks for the welcome!
  12. Aah thankyou that was the answer was looking for!! If that is the case as some other poster noted then the Aurion does very well when compared to other vehicles I have owned. The next best was a regular Mitsubishi Magn a V6 which indicated around 8.5 l / 100 on the same trip. PS I didn't want to start WW3 with my queries!!
  13. 1. Price of fuel will change so it's impossible to use price as the tank average. It's how many KMs you travel in 1 tank. 2. Everyone's fuel ecc will be different because of too many various reasons. City/country driving, how fast your accelerate, you weight of car, psi of tyres, wind speed, windows down or up etc. Also using the fuel ecc on the speedo area is inaccurate. The best method to check for fuel ecc is see how many litres you use when at the pump and how many KMs you travel. No argument here but I would like to know if folks think their ecomy displayed is reasonably accurate. I should also add to my original post that all figures I quoted were using 98 octane fuel - it's actually cheaper per Km.
  14. Not my choice - The insurance company made the call - a replacement at that time with similar k's etc was around $36k But the car is back now and overall I'm very pleased with it. Additional gear on it like Towbar, Heavy anderson plug electrics etc would have been a pain for me. Overall the experience of being stopped on the Bruce highway with 4 people in the car and being able to do the Toyota Link thingy was a really good thing and the emergency response folks Police, Ambulance, Firies, and Tow trucks was fantastic. Car did it's job, I was ably to safely stop in the dark on an embanked road, minimal hurt to occupants.
  15. First a general question: Given all the data do we conclude that the "Tank Average" display is on the money or what? Second: Very hard to compare one persons driving with anothers particularly the City/Country divide. I often drive 500k to Brisbane the first part of the trip is a little hilly and I don't use the Cruise - it's more economic to let the car speed up down hill and slow back a tad uphill. On this section the display hands me about 8.3l /100km that's driving as close to 107 as I can. Once i hit the dual carriageway 110 zone I set cruise at 117 and have frequently arrived at the outskits of Brisbane with displays of 6.8 to 7.2. It's a Presara with standard Michelin tyres inflated to 38 - 40 psi I think this is stunning economy. While towing a small poptop van - about 1400kg - at 80 - 90kph - no cruise - I get between 12.5 and 15.8 l/100
