  1. Its easier to install coilovers, well good ones like Cusco anyway since they are one unit and don't need to reuse existing components. Just drop out the old shock/spring toghether (no compressor required), then bolt the coilover in, and done. With Cusco they come pre adjusted and tightened for a perfect ride height, so no need to touch.

  2. Id say, you would probably cost you less labour hours to bolt in another box (prob can do it yourself if have the know how). Pulling a box apart to fix a syncro is messy and time consuming. Although you never know if the new box hasn't got the same problem. Sometimes it is better to work with what you have, since it can be less of a risk.

  3. Fast gear changing wont break a syncro, lifting the clutch up to early might.

Someone on here is selling a whole engine plus gear box for 1.5k, maybe a better option plus you have some spare part from your original box and new engine for latter down the track.

  4. You dont need the short short shifter to maintain lift between gear changes, you just need to learn to drive the Corolla. I very rarely miss a 1st to 2nd lift change with or without a short shifter. I think the short shifter just makes it much nicer and more solid to shift, and reduces chances of missing gears cuz you always know what gear your in.

  5. some1 memtioned it is slower on the low end (1000~3000rpm) with just the CAI mod. Does that mean the car's performace will actually be slower? By modifying the car, we always expect it to be either faster or stabler. But CAI doesn't help in this case. (sorry for a very noobie question!)

My old CES lost power in the low end vey undrivable, Id say my TRD has more low end, much nicer to drive than stock.

i dunno what you guys are doing down there to get these results.....

Maybe the CES intakes don't agree with the Melbourne weather haha, i dunno.

But with the TRD I have found that it has alot more pick-up and actually pulls well when putting your foot down in 6th gear (or any other gears) compared with the stock airbox.

  7. Hi

Yeah, when I purchased the car there was a light sound coming from the left-front, but since my smash, the right has started doing it too.

Oh well, dropping the car off this afternoon at the mechanics, hope it's all good for tomorrow!

    Cheers

    - Brad

I had a simular sound but it was a broken exahst mount, thought it was the suspension but wasn't.

  8. maybe change tein ss to sw (superwagon) cuz u cant get ss for the zze12X corolla.

No that is incorrect. We are able to get TEIN SS but in jap spec not aus spec. Im just guessn the spring rates and valving are harder. I just downloaded the catalogue it says ZZE122G so it must also fit ZZE123 as well. Like all the other coilovers

I have only known about the us model SS (whether it fits i'm not sure, I know the bolt holes on the bottom of the front coilovers for the matrix are bigger, so you cant fit them properly, never heard about the japanese, although there was an aus car parts site with ss listed for the jap zze122G, I emailed them and i was told that it was a mistake and only the wagons are avaiable.

  9. you can get better than cusco, but once you start looking at that gear the price goes up.

Cusco and Tein are about the same in my books, I've had multiple sets of each on my cars. The best I've had were a custom made set from fulcrum.

The Cuscos Zero 2 and Tein Wagons cannot be compared. Teins flex are awesome, superstreet is ok (howevever id still go D2s since superstreets dont have a lower adjustment and are twin tube (note monotube is better)). Unfortunantly they dont make Flex and Superstreet for the ZZE12X corolla (they do have superstreet for the US model but not sure if it fits). Cuscos Zero 2 are superior to Tein Wagons and superstreets; however are on par with Tein flex. Given whats avaialble for the Rolla Id i'd buy steet coilovers in the following order: Cusco Zero 2 --> D2 Street --> Cusco Zero 1 ---> Tein GT Wagon --> Tein Super Wagon

Some1 else on here had DMS coilovers, they don't allow too much of a drop (i think 50mm) but they are an awesome coilover but pricy (think 3000 dollars or so).

Make sure you comparing the products correctly cuz they make variations of every brand.

There are also other coilover you can get for the rolla, but i only know specifics of the above.

Cusco Zero 2 --> D2 Street --> Cusco Zero 1 ---> Tein GT Wagon --> Tein Super Wagon

which one is the most comfortable and the best handling to drive?

    TRD

Well they are all street coilovers.

Id say probably in the same order starting firmest/best handling left and bounciest/omg ive driven off the cliff right

  11. D2's the teins for the rolla are only the wagons, so they are not really designed around performance, just ride height, so will be similar to stock handling (which is boat like). D2's Street are still comfortable but let you floor it though corners. Askk Bangn hes had both. If you had Cuscos in there I would choose those them cuz they are ultimate, but very pricey.
