  1. Nah you can go lower w/o compressign the spring and the sway links wont touch. Best way I found is to put it full lock to the one side, ajust the sway to fit that side, then full lock to the other side and sjust the sway links again and do that a few time till u get full locks w/o rubbing on one side or over extending on the other. Its a takes about 5-10min to get it right. Hope this helps.

  2. Yep Kaze sounds like another CV in a sportivo has gone. Maybe Toyota should do a recall. I blew both boots and cvs in my last car and drove it around for a year. Eventually you wheel lose steering and there is chance the cv may seperate which can be very dangerous. The stivo cvs and boots are very under engineered. Im thinking about getting them rebuild stonger (if thats possible). Here is a link that explains cvs

  3. i think silva made a good point about not having problems with just konis and kings. Seems like this might only apply to coilover people??? Just on a indicator that most people with coilovers on average are lower than even superlow kings which equals to wearing of your cv's much quicker and the fact the people who have killed theres cv's are the people with coilys. Feel free to prove me wrong on this.

    Let me know how you go with toyota and there warranty be interesting to hear what they have to say...

    I thought Silva meant that he got his cvs fixed under warranty with kings and konis installed. CVs are pissweak in the stivos anyway, its a pretty common problem. Prob would have failed with stock suspension anyway if you drive it hard enough.

    lowering the car puts the CV angles out from where toyota designed them, and when the CV joints are forced to work hard when they're out of their designed angle range they wear a lot faster.

    How does the angle of the suspension account for the boot failures. Usaually the CVs fail after the boot is busted. They are rubber boots and can have a fair bit of angle in em, and mine dont stretch anywhere near all the way. I think toyota designed em to bust after being hit by stone.

  4. I dunno what the chung chung sound was, the lubricant was a quick fix but it came back. I just took the coilover out, pulled it all apart to bits, put it back toghether and it is fine now.

    Its not just d2s, i have been reading heaps of forums and other jap brands ets have the same gremlin type issues. I think it comes down to set-up and the corolla has messy type front end with the sway links attached to the shockers so u gotta adjust these alot to get em right. Plus the D2 have alot of possible adjustements but with crap generic installation instruction. I prob post a step by step install soon so the rest of u guys can set it up right from word go.

    Neways the Street D2 handle absolutely awsome with a very good ride quality, I can pretty much floor it out of corners now with minimal wheels spin and there are not too many cars that can keep with me through corners, especially considering i dont have an lsd. Real bang for your buck performance.

    looks like more ppl are having the same prob

    I oiled the top struts but it came back. So I just took out the coilover pulled it apart then put it back toghether and the noise was gone.

    your better of sticking to rhe corolla ones, there thicker than the mr2 and the celica

    Just thinking the teeth may be differnet at the end of the shaft, for the celica gearbox than the sportivo. Crap thats not what i wanted to hear i was hoping that they would be the smae thickness.

  7. well the sportivo uses a half-shaft type CV on the drivers side, the normal ZZE122's use a full shaft. They're not directly interchangable.

    the CV's will still wear with a billet driveshaft. You wont make enough torque with a 2ZZ to snap a standard shaft, so billet shafts are a waste of money.

    The chinese replacement CV parts wear a lot faster than the japanese parts. My local driveshaft shop has a display case full of broken chinese parts.

    I see, prob need to take it out and get it rebuit. how about celica driveshafts?

  8. my guess would be that they are, given that they are both 4 stud, suspension is the same etc

    my only concern is that the the threads on the end of the shaft dont match up to the gearbox. Any Ideas?

    or if any1 know where I can get s Sportivo driveshaft that would be better (dont say toyata cuz they will prob charge a fortune when they are pretty cheap second hand).

  9. Took it for another drive and the clong clong and clicking is gone just, got that sqeezy sound (sorta sounds like when you sqeeze a rubber toy and the air comes out) over bumps and turning. I've bought some Nulon Xtreme Performance Grease so i'm gonna grease up every joint under neath the wheel. I will also give the coil a wash since i have alot of dirt in the coilover so that may be contributing to the noise.
