  1. You paid how much for an 04 Avalon????? holy smoke! we have a gold one here exactly the same with 90,000kms for 10k... lol

You must have missed the bit where it said that this was in 2007...

how could it be a 2007 Avalon? Aurion replaced Avalon mid 2006...

    He bought a 2004 model in 2007....

  2. Make sure you put something down to protect the carpet in the boot. Nothing worse then seeing a car that's been well looked after, but opening the boot to find it in a hideous state. I recently bought one of those Toyota boot liners off ebay, but you could use anything such as foam/rubber that others have mentioned or even just a scrap piece of carpet. I also made myself a scuff protector that drapes over the boot, so when I'm taking things in and out of the boot I don't scratch the plastic lips etc - similar to the genuine one you can buy from Toyota, but better lol :D

  3. Apologies for dragging up an old thread...but I too need to have a gripe re the sports shift.

Quite often when I'm taking the Eastlink tunnel home from the city, I'll put it in to 'S' and straight away down shift to third, in order to better control my speed on the descent in to the tunnel. The time between downshifting to third and third gear actually engaging is 4 seconds!!!!!!! Horrible, horrible lag!!

That's the only massive gripe I've got with the car. Had it for 4 or so months now and love it! But I just couldn't believe it when I down shifted to third and literally counted 1-2-3-4...finally engages!

  4. thx guys, i checked out a dash mat from supercheap auto n it just made the car look sooooo crap. I'll get a sunshade and some protectant. Also anyone use rainX on the windshield. Is it bad for the glass? it really helps for that morning fog n mist.

I've used RainX...to be honest though, I haven't really noticed much of a difference, that being said though I haven't really been paying much attention. I highly doubt it would do any damage to the glass, the only thing you might have to be wary of is tinted windows, but I think it's tint safe. I've tried the anti-fog solution that they make as well, but it's a PITA to apply properly as it streaks and hazes etc...almost makes it not worth while.

  5. Don't suppose you know which station the officer was from? If so, just give him a call and ask. If you were allowed to drive your car from the scene, chances are you'd only be issued with a minor defect, if any at all. Down here in Vic though, if Police issue you with a defect notice and want you to take it to the RTA to get certified, they put a defect sticker on the windscreen....I'm not sure if the same would apply in NSW, but might be something to make some further enquiries about ie: look on the RTA website.

  6. Went and got the 1000k service done today. No dramas, the car has been running like a dream!

I also ordered a pre-facelift Aurion front number plate mount, as the mount that's on the facelift Aurions is far too big and just looks crap IMO.

Went to fit the mount as soon as I got home - disappointment. :( The mounting holes are in different positions and there are clips on either side of the mount which won't fit in to the housing on the bumper. I honestly thought it was going to be a simple case of screw the old one off, screw the new one on, but never mind.

So I now have a brand new pre-facelift Aurion number plate mount if anyone's interested. :P

  7. the harsh fines they give so they get there commision.

    1. Those "harsh penalties" are imposed by the government. The Police get the somewhat unfortunate task of having to enforce them. If you have a problem with the severity of fines/demerits etc, take it up with the government, not the Police.

    2. Believe it or not, Police DO NOT get a commission for the number of fines etc they hand out. Police do not get a commission of any sort for the work they do.

I can understand the frustration that some motorists may feel when issued with an infringement of some sort, but at the end of the day the Police are only doing their job. Like others before me have said, if you're not doing any wrong, then there won't be any problems... :D

  8. Considering it was a Landcruiser that hit you, I reckon you were pretty lucky to only end up with that amount of damage...But anyway Davo, the car is looking absolutely sensational!! Great stuff mate! :D

  9. They start beeping continuously and the closer you get, the lower the rate of the beep, which is not how the front ones work.

The indicators are too also working in reverse, max bars then as you get closer, the bars drop away.

The beeps are obviously in reverse, but by the way you've described the indicators, they seem to be working fine.

My indicators show 3 bars I think when I'm far from the object and then drop down to 2 - 1 as I get closer. So your indicators seem fine *shrug*

  10. Seriously don't bother trying to fix scratches under the front bumper. Sooner or later you will scratch it again. I can barely see my scratches under the front bumper and i know there's plenty of it.

Agreed. You're probably going to get alot more scratches under the front bumper, and if you can't see them then I wouldn't bother. Plus, if the plastic has been "gouged" then I imagine you're going to have to use some sort of filler to get a nice, smooth finish again.
