How hard is it to change the plugs yourself?

Toyota have quoted me $700 for complete flush. Thieving bastards! I shall see where I can get the oil from cheaper. Alibaba is looking good.

Howdy gang. Just wondered if any of you have had this problem. My '07 has done just over 280,000km and I am noticing bearing noise in lower gears. It's not too bad yet but I know it'll only get worse. Is there any treatment I can get that will help or, if not, does anyone recommend a good place to get it fixed. I'm in Perth. I guess if things get really bad I'd be looking at a second hand gearbox so if anyone knows a good place to get one of those, I'd sure appreciate the advice.

Hi Scoota. A fellow cabbie. Excellent. But I didn't say I was the only taxi. I said the only Presara. And I am in Perth, at least. Have noticed a few more Camry's and Aurion's coming on the road as cabs. Having had four Ford's as previous taxis, I can attest to the superiority of the Toyota brand. Got a feeling you might agree. The car has been fantastic thus far. The only downside is the hopeless dealer I've had to contend with. Expensive and totally useless. That's why I'm doing as much myself as I can. Thanks for the advice Adamsy. I will definitely try and stay as genuine as possible in my maintainance. I think I can get better deals on genuine and non-genuine by coming here and asking advice rather than "trusting" the dealer. So far I have saved quite a few bucks and the only two items I have purchased from advice from this forum have both been genuine. Just got a much better deal on-line. Having said that, I think I'll give that fuel filter a go. Might have a go at changing it too. Dealer wants $110 for the filter and nearly $300 to fit it. Without wanting to soundi like Clarkson - how hard can it be? Thanks boys for the advice. I'll come back and let you know how things go.

Need to replace my fuel filter. 2007 Presara. It's a taxi guys (probably the only one in Australia!) and I need a new fuel filter. Ebay, whatever. I'm sick of being ripped off and I've had great success on here before by going to the experts. Keeping a taxi on the road is an expensive business, so I'm trying hard to cut down on my outlay when it comes to parts. If anyone knows where I can get air filters from too I'd appreciate it.

Probably should have got back with what happened. I went to the Ebay site given to me by U54mot and purchased two globes at $20 each. With $19 shipping, I got two globes to my front door for $59. Not bad considering Toyota quoted me $400 for one! They fitted it for $72 but when my wife went to pick up the car they said they had made a mistake and it was double that. She said "your mistake, tough, here is the $72 - take it or leave it." They took it. Thanks for the great advice guys.

Depends on how good they are as well. Sometimes a more expensive oil doesn't perform well enough and a cheaper oil does, hence it's not justifiable because it's not value for money. Yeah, and that's really the information I'm after. I'm quite prepared to spend the extra but I want to know it's the right oil and will give my taxi maximum protection. I am the only driver but it's still a tough life for a car.

I'm about to do an oil change on my '07 Presara. Got the oil from Toyota 10/30 grade. Just wondering if it's worth the extra money to go to a fully synthetic oil next time, and, if yes, which one you would recommend. My car is a taxi so I don't mind spending extra on preventative maintenance. Interested in your replies.

I need to replace a low-beam headlight globe on my '07 Presara. My book tells me it should be a D4S H11 globe. Toyota tell me it's nearly $400! This seems like a ripoff. Does anyone know where I can get something a lot cheaper? Also, the globe I have keeps going out. If I switch off and then back on, it comes on again. Does this sound like the globe, or something else? A Toyota dealer said they couldn't find anything wrong with the wiring etc. Would a globe do this if it was on the way out? Seems a bit strange to me.

Howdy gang. Just had my Presara (2007) serviced at my closest Toyota dealer here in Perth. I had a couple of issues with the car that I needed sorting, plus a 120,000km service. I have a right hand low beam headlight that goes off occasionally. Every damned night and usually more than once (car is a taxi btw)actually. If I switch the lights off and then on again it gets it working again. The dealer said they had looked at the headlight, wiring etc and couldn't find anything wrong. But it still keeps doing it. Also, can I ask, does the gear selector panel on the console light up? I'm sure it should. But mine doesn't. So I asked them to change the globe. I've been billed for it but it still doesn't light up. And I'm pretty sure the tyres have not been rotated although it states that this should be done. Lastly, the right rear wheel squeaks when I move up slowly on the cab rank. It's quite loud and almost sounds like the foot-park brake is rubbing or something. They said they brushed some dust out of there but, again, it's still happening. I'd like to point out that the car has only recently been put on the road as a taxi. I bought the car with 107,000km on the clock so it's only done 13,000 as a cab. I'm the only driver and I take good care of my cars. Maybe I'm imagining things but I really hate being taken for a ride, so to speak. Coming from a cabbie ....... I know, but still. I have the feeling that none of my concerns have been addressed and that they have merely changed the oil and filter. What does the forum think?
