  1. 'These are aftermarket part.

You need our control module to fold the mirror assy the whole set, it's dofferent rom the moving of glass only.

    Thanks!'

a 'ruyun lue' is the person on the emails. I am not sure wether to go ahead with buying them until I know the answers to these, can anyone here help me?

    LMAO!!!! Wow!

Sounds like you will need an additional control module because your power mirror controls will only control the mirror, not the entire folding unit.

Ask if they sell the control module and how much. I'm keen too if you wanted to try for a group discount.

Definitely aftermarket or it would cost an insane amount of money.

  2. Your choice but if you have an accident and kill somebody, I hope you have deep pockets cause the other parties involved will sue you ***** off. I am all for saving weight, but it is just too dangerous and not to mention illegal. Our cars are not engineered to meet the requirements that the high end sports cars are when using cf panels. Your choice but I am all for legal mods. Yes it would look good, but if weight saving is a priority, get a light weight ally bonnet made up instead. Fully legal and probably weigh the same as cf. but like I said, it's your choice.

Look.... Everyone is open to an opinion. But not every opinion you hear is based on fact. Are CF panels illegal? Yes. Because they are unsafe? not exactly, more because they aren't crash tested for each particular application and Australia is erring on the side of caution. Fiber glass is also illegal... Polyurethane body kits too... and guess what, an ally bonnet is illegal too... Nobody will get an ADR on a aftermarket panel anywhere past your firewall with out putting serious coin for engineered tests. Have you seen CF in an accident? I have. Do you have any examples of CF being the cause of death and not the impact? Love to hear some proven facts on this. Check out the link below. Do some other research and get back to me then.

  3. Defect straight away and will void insurance. The carbon fibre splinters in an accident and becomes highly dangerous. My wrx was defected for this twice. Cannot get engineers certificate for it either.

Not to brag.... Hehehe.... But I wrote off an Accord with a CF bonnet and smashed a deer in an IS300 with a CF bonnet in the USA.... Carbon Fibre doesnt shatter or splinter into pieces, just looses structural integrity and gets flimsy at the breaks.

Fibre Glass shatters into a million pieces, only the subframe remains in a high speed crash.

  4. It CAN'T be that impossible. Half of the high end cars are made from CF or Fibre Glass external panels. I sent the factory some pics of the inner and outer of my bonnet, and they are designing it with vents. I will post images once I have them.

$875 AUD each if 10 are interested in a group buy. May even get a few myself since there is nowhere else to get them, and sell them off.

  5. I could be wrong, but aren't the TRD headlights smoked chrome like the Sportivos?

EDIT: Just realized you were planning to mod them. The mid & top-spec SE Asia Camry come with HID headlights, so it will be a nice upgrade. Also, have a look at the Asian Camry Hybrid headlights (Facelift-spec, but with hybrid blue highlights.).

Cheers yeah, that's what I'm going for. V-FX pointed me in the right direction. Plan on ordering them at the end of the week. Can't wait!

  6. Guys, I broke the guts of my driver side headlight doing a mod. Toyota replacement is 500+.... Aurions are badged as Camry in SE Asia right? Any tips on finding after market lights from Thailand or Japan? Vendors you guys have used that I can email? Any help is appreciated.

  7. I used to go to a supplier located out at Brendale, but the name eludes me sorry - I'm sure you could find a supplier in the yellow pages though.

Mind you I wouldn't recommend polycarbonate, as even though it would work it will take a LOT of working and shaping etc and might not even look that good.

If you look at my thread here where I used ABS, you can see how I designed my heatshield to remove any "void" that would be left. To answer your question I removed the entire factory intake.

You are a legend, cheers. Nice work btw, looks good.

  8. I'd use polycarbonate before using perspex as it's far more durable and unlikely to become brittle. 10 or 15mm will also likely be thick enough to withstand engine bay temps.

I used standard ABS plastic sheeting, only 2mm thick and mine is keeping shape well

Thanks Steve, next dumb question, where would I find sheets of polycarbonate? How much of the old intake did you take out? Looking under the hood today, seems like there will be an odd looking void if I gut it all.
