  1. I wish an 86 was mine! I just wanted to compare the GT86 and 5th Gen.. :) (I probly posted these before!)

One day I will own one! along with a Supra Turbo and.... lol

The 86 is the most exciting thing to happen for Toyota fans for a looooong time. I love seeing all the work people are putting into them to make them their own unique ride..

  2. Each to their own, I think we should let the thread get back to what the opening post had intended.

Yes we did get a little off topic. lol

TBH.. this is one of my least favorite Celica shapes.. I dont mind them with the flared guards to give them shape.. or some twincam variant with some go to make it more appealing..

However it is in very good condition.. I personally would probably lock it up for another 10yrs and see what time brings. :)

edit... and I dont think it matters we got off topic..haha. people who drop in to value their car rarely return.. you've probly seen it more times than me. lol

  3. Only going by previous experiences, I would not waste my time or money on fitting them. Clearly they weren't worth the "noticable increase in power" seeing that you removed them.

Seriously? Maybe I understated the increase... I went back to the stock manifold.. which is ok for immediate wind up.. but those large headers gave the motor much more legs... 350 V8 eating legs with the Turbo rebuilt..

If I could control the heat effectively.. they would be on immediately.. mark my words..

But at the moment Im not obsessed with losing my licence.. but they will go back on at some stage.

  4. Hi juvenile!

Been a long time since we met.. I passed you in Fairy Meadow months back.. number plate gave it away and I didnt know you had upgraded! You might even have waved back.

Comparison shot.. nice curves on both.. :D

  5. I think what Hiro is trying to say is... Priceless! lol.. :)

No, no he most definitely was not.

You havent changed a bit Trent.. lol

News for you mate.. remember those JASMA headers for the GT4 that were stainless? They worked quite well.. and did not crack as you kept telling me they would. haha.

I took them out in the end as the heat generated was too much. But there was a noticeable increase in power.

  6. Yes you need to have the ECU... the 2.8D does not need one! lol All the loom required...

And to answer the last question.. yes.. you need to move the engine mounts about 2 inches... mine had a plate made up to adapt.. Im not sure of the legality of that yet..

Otherwise the cross member fits perfectly to the 1kz transfercase mount... you should get the single shaft from transfer case to diff..

The 2 point setup will not handle the power of the 1KZ.. and it is awesome...there is a notable turbo whistle from the exhaust on idle.. 3inch.. it is a sweet sound from the 3L!

Update.. the ute is going very well.. no blinkers but the headlights and brake lights work.. when I have the $ its going to auto electrician for final touches then off for certification by Engineer.. expecting this to be about $1500.

edit... here is the plate made to avoid cutting rail etc...

  7. Even the 5 speed manuals should not tow heavy loads in 5th gear.. 4th only. Otherwise 5th gear goes clunk...

Forget O/D and saving fuel money and keep it in 3rd and get a long life out of your Hilux. :)

O/D is for the freeway when coasting..

    My 2 cents

  8. I dont see any good conversions in the list here so I will show you guys mine.. :P

As title suggests I have removed the 2.8D and replaced it with a 1kzte..which is a turbo..

This motor was in KZN165R Hiluxs and Prados..

You must use the bellhousing and gearbox from the KZN.. I am using the standard LN front and rear diffs.. no problems at all.. It now has single shaft from transfer case to rear diff.. the 2 point shafts have to go.. a much smoother ride.

Goes hard.. not quite finished.. 3 inch exhaust is being fitted atm..

    KZN wiring loom is required..

  9. A mate of mine wanted the auto in 4WD Hilux D4D, and he has always had manuals.. but it was not available.. he believed it would be superior when 4WDing as the Auto is supposedly very good at controlling traction etc..

    I'd prefer manual.
