  1. Sounds like a rip off to me at that price... you could probably find a caliper at a wrecker for cheap or someone who knows what they are doing could replace the seal. The mounting bolt sounds like the trickiest part.. do you know someone with a welder? I also enjoy the old pistols and rifles.. I have a 308 Ruger myself.. :spiteful: I want to to get a pistol licence next. Wish I could help mate.. too far away.

  2. I dont know If this subject being covered before or not if it has im going bring it back up again.

People who cant park there car straight in car spot or those people who take up two cars spots. I could kick them were it hurts, if you cant park a car properly you shouldnt have a licence fullstop, Its nothing more anoying in a busy street or shopping centre car park when its busy and there only just enough car parks and your driving around looking for a car spot and think you have found one and you look and some numskull is taking up two spots or they havent parked straight. I have one thing to say to them HAVE SOME CONSIDERATION FOR OTHERS!

2nd that.. I go out of my way to find a park spot with NO other cars on either side with the GT4 so those same type of idiots dont slam their doors into mine.. the Hilux is another story.. if they do that I laugh.. all they hit is running board.

  3. Entirely car unrelated but...

    F#$&ing Telstra!

Surely its not ethical business practice to overcharge somebody then put services on their account on hold until you fix your own c*ckup? If I had another option, I'd **** those ****s right off.

hahahaha... I work for Southernphone, all Australian call centre.. we got LOADS of Telstra customers come to us, people hate them with a passion! Keep up the bad work Telstra. :D

Sorry to lol at your pain.

  4. People who drive at 70km/h on the highway with a 1km traffic line behind them... who then speed up to 110km when an overtaking lane appears so noone can overtake then slow back down to 70km again when the overtaking lane is gone...

I want a bonnet mounted 50 calibre machine gun to take care of these people. :spiteful:

  5. those wasps are another reason NOT to live in qld.. as the saying goes... qld..beautiful one day.. s**t house the next!. lol

I spotted that bolt kit too.. might even get a set myself, let us know how good they are when you get em.

  6. Isn't it about time you gave up on that super charger and just went for a GT4? :P lol

LOL! compression is 17:1 the gasket used when the bottom end got rebuilt just wasnt up to the task.. -.- lol (keeps blowing due to the 184's head being shaved beyond its maximum recommended lvl (due to an idiot mech many yrs back)

    ..

i went one better though... call me a traitor but i just bought a black 180sx ;P

Your kind are not welcome here! Off with you now and dont come back until you have a running Toyota. :D

  7. I am not proud to say in the last 100,000km I havent changed the fuel filter.. however on monday I will be buying one asap.

I have drained the tank many months ago and it was all clear. No excuses for my laziness in replacing the fuel filter tho.

  8. Good news! She is going again.. after checking the pump solenoid was ok, and it was getting power, the old man and I determined no fuel was even making it to the pump.. so we connected up a bottle with some diesel to the line going into the pump and she started! After it started we jammed the fuel line hose back into the primer/filter and it continues to run.. after all my concerns it seems it was only airlock or whatever stopping the fuel getting to the pump.

    Happy days.

  9. Thats a tough question.. so many favorites. I'd love a V8 cruiser, but I dont have an excuse to own one or the $ to keep it going. :)

Not that I have an excuse or good reason for owning a turbo 4 other than for sheer enjoyment and being a man child.

I love my celica's... obviously.. the RA23 & 28 are 2 favorites, but the st185 gtfour is my all time favorite Toyota... so far.

Corolla's arent far behind the sillycars and hilux/4 runner are excellent too.. too many good Toyotas' if there is even such a thing.

  10. I had some seals replaced in it 4 years ago, but not the major overhaul which costs the big $ though.

Surely I couldnt be lucky enough that its the same seals that have gone again. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

At least last time it would start, even with diesel leaking everywhere, this time no start.. I understand that diesel pumps need to be timed or some such thing, which isnt something I could do. So its going to need towing to a mechanic.

I was told the seals go more often in Australian diesels because of the crap quality of the fuel we get.

Thanks croco, I will look at replacing the plugs too. 400k is a good run, I imagine it will keep going for a lot longer after the pumps fixed.

  11. Wont start again.. surprise. Can any diesel experts out there suggest a test for the glow plugs? Or should a diesel start eventually without them working? I was under the impression that glow plugs were for cold starts, I know on some hot days I'd just turn the key absent mindedly without waiting for the glow plug light to go out and it starts straight away.

Since the car is at home, Im trying to work out the problem myself first, before a costly callout visit from an electrician.

I guess something has to go wrong after 400,000kms..

  12. Have a look on the actual engine for the type it is.. something R.. or in the engine bay... or google it.. forget about reconditioning a motor that old and worn out imo... if it was me I'd try all the jap import places for a suitable running replacement engine.. lots of phone calls for you...You will need a lot of equipment to get the engine out Im guessing, a big job. good luck with that.. will be fun when its going though.

  13. Good work! Wish I had the time to do the same to mine.

But ! I did a engine conversion on mine. What conversion I hear you say?!

I got a 3sgte from a caldina and dropped it in. It's the same engine but with better package. Coil packs instead of dizzy. Uprated power, 190kw standard apparently. Less laggy turbo and blah blah blah.

Did it at home. Took a couple of weeks to sought out the wiring. Now its a dream to drive.

If you ever consider doing a conversion I highly recommend the caldina engine.

Good luck with it and keep us updated.

I've read so many different opinions on which 3sgte is best, that I dont know what to believe anymore..
