  1. Hi Guys, Usually idle control problems relate to the Idle control Valve, which is located under your throttlebody. If you look carefully, it's got 2 small hoses going into the valve , and depending on which model, it's either 2 going in from the same direction, or 2 going in like an L shape. As it gets older, it can get gunked up with bad ****. It's a $500 brand new, but 2nd hand i scored mine for $110. If you go to a non-toyota mechanic, you can ask the mechanic to take the part out, immerse it in diesel or petrol, and let it soak for a minute or 2 to clean up the drit. Look at the first few lines to see what it looks like here. http://picasaweb.google.com.au/TiangC/2ZZGEEngineSwap Labour, it's about 15 minutes to install, and about another 30 minutes to drain any bubbles in your coolant. so say 1.5 hours toyota time. Nothing wrong with thermostats, etc, as the idle is controled by this valve, and any idle problems should start looking at here. BTW, Addzz, good to see another MR2 spyder owner. Mines a 01 model too. Where about are you?
  2. i'm in perth. yeah, lettering will be otehr way around.
  3. Yes. same mounting points. I have one if you're looking for one.
  4. I meant 1ZZFE. There is no 1ZZGE. Its a known issue on early model 2ZZGE celicas. Just figured for peace of mind, you can put in stronger ones.
  5. Hi Guys, I'm running a GB for cyro-ed lift bolts for the 7th Gen celica guys. Wondering if any sportivo rollas would like some as well? Standard lift bolts do wear and tear, and it's been know to break. Normally need to check them during a major service, and replace if there is wear, before they snap. I'm ordering a set of cryo'ed lift bolts from the States. USD$15 shipped. They've been modified to be stronger using a deep freeze technique. or something. I'll take paypal, DD into bank, or sexytime. Group buy open till 7th May. Payment to be in my account by the 11th, and they'll be shipped from the states on the following monday (14th) Also instructions on how to replace them are available here: http://www.users.on.net/~nbenjamin/tech/liftbolts/ If you're in WA, i can install them for a small fee, but it's mechanically very straight forward. Oh, and it's 2ZZGE engines only fellas. If you have 1ZZFE, no lift for you. PM me if you want a set. Tiang
  6. Mate, you have to get someone who knows about this to be personally involved. You _ARE_ getting ripped off, and in a HUGE way. Find a friend, parent, or someone who will help you negotiate your way out of this. If i was over east, I'ld help you out, but the best I can do is tell you to find someone to talk to them on your behalf. They have NO right to tow it back to their workshop, and it was a 'trick' for them to do it. It's a very common ploy for them to find a car accident, trick the owner into letting them tow it back to their workshop, and then charge large fees for holding it. Don't pay more than $200 for the tow. And as for the holding fee, argue that you wanted it towed back to a place of your choosing, and they didn't do it. And i have a buyer for your engine if you're ready to part out. Email/PM me your mobile number, and I can discuss this with you.
  7. Sorry to hear about your accident...Roll overs seem to be quite 'common' now...a 7th gen celica had similar accident a few weeks ago. :( mate, $1200 is a rediculous price to pay for a tow. You are getting ripped off. don't pay it, engage legal services of a lawyer, and get your car back. Most you should have to pay is $200 for the tow. and if you're looking to part out, I may have someone in perth who's interested in your engine. email/msn me on tiang_1@hotmail.com
  8. ...putting the i/c over the rocker cover like that...how's the air flow supposed to cool the air down? It's just gonna heat soak at the traffic lights. My intake close to the exhaust atm, and at the lights, i'm gaining an extra 15'c of intake temps for sitting 2 minutes. It drops pretty much straight away because i get good airflow when i'm driving, but i don't see how you'll get airflow through that i/c.
  9. Heh..not done by Corolla, or MRS, but by a celica. http://www.ozcelica.com/deltaforum/index.p...mp;#entry126636
  10. I'm all outta cash, otherwise I would Rotrex my 2zz. Oh well, the year is still young. It's a good engine, and the rotrex SC seems to be a straightforward set up, whether RHD or LHD. I'm probably wrong, but I thought that because SC sits on the intake side, the fittings for the kit should be suitable for both RHD/LHD.
  11. 1) SMT gearbox is slower than manual. Only reason u'ld want it is if u're lazy. 2) 2ZZ conversions are $10k+, with the bare essentials. U will need more than just a half cut from a rolla/celica.
  12. need more details than just "stage 1" installed! hehehe but that graph does look very appealing...I'll have to see what happens when it's in an MR2. Lighter = faster acceleration, so it may be more necksnapping than the celica.
  13. I'm with Ralyrt. I've been driving my bro's celica, and although it seems to have a bit of torque, it really lacks anything necksnapping in 2nd gear onwards. That and it takes forever to get to lift. Maybe a lightened flywheel will help...:)
