  1. but a camry comes in an auto and a camry comes with a 3-5S engines which mean there is an auto that will bolt to the motor all that has to be done is internal beefing and nice strong CV joints and shafts to fit trans and hubs (it can be done)

And the autos are behind *****-weak 3SFE and 5SFE engines, not 3SGTEs. Do you put a C50 gearbox behind a 4AGTE and expect it to last? No. You put in an E-series which is designed to take the power/torque. Camry auto boxes are designed to take the power of a 5SFE, which is 90-odd kw, less than half of what you can get out of a decent 3SGTE.

  2. wats wit the 100KW combind power when it has an 73kw petrol and a 60kw elec to me id say that =133kw with the old prius the combind power was the addition of both motors power wich was 107kw unless this new prius never allows you to use all of the avalible power from both motors

Doesn't take a maths genius to work that out. Obviously they determined that they didn't need full power from both units at any one time. Decent full power from the engine if it is forced to run by itself, decent full power from the electrics when the petrol engine is off at low speed, and enough power from both to give highway cruising and overtaking whilst minimising fuel consumption.

  3. yay i got my hsc in the mail today. i got a Certificate 2 in hospitality operations :) not sure what i can do with it though :S

Yes I'll take fries with that thanks.....

  4. First thing you should ALWAYS do when you have visual issues is to update your video card drivers. I'm actually surprised that the MX440 is capable of widescreen resolutions etc, it's a very basic card from over 5 years ago, and is several generations behind current video card technology.

I agree. I was like WTF would that card work on the monitor in the first place??? Oh by the way, LCD monitors don't have "lamps". Its just whether there are dead pixels or not.

They do have lamps...it's called a backlight. The pixels aren't giving off light, they're just filtering it. And dead pixels are either one of the following - Hot (always on, white), Dead (always off, black), and stuck (always on, a particular colour - note that most stuck pixels are actually sub-pixels, if a stuck pixel is any colour other than red blue or green then more than one sub-pixel is stuck)

  5. Hahaha im not good looking am i to be in the auto salon... oh wait my mate wanted me to be a model for his car LOL...... But guys just wait for her to be painted n a have the rims on and then you can critique.

Wow, a MATE wanted you to model for his car.....so, does he work for a modelling agency?

Oh, and have you even been to an Autosalon before? 90% of the models there are absolute skanks, and most of them are car sluts (ie girls who hang around guys with hot cars because they can't get any any other way).

  6. v8 super cabs dont have that muchpower i mean robie bordger or wat ever his name is had like 900+hp in a como and v8 SC only have like 600+hp but yeah not fastest way around a corner n it would make it like nascar with that many cars drifting as once (multiple car smashes gotta lovem)

Funny how you say they don't have much power when they have as much or more than just about every road-going supercar ever made, including the vaunted McLaren F1. And as far as race-cars go, they have less than an Formula 1, Indy and NASCAR, but more than DTM, GP2, and many others. So _only_ 600HP, but remember they're limited to 5.0L, N/A, RWD etc. Plus they only weigh 1350kg, have 10" wide tyres and fully adjustable suspension, so chances are they'd be quicker around a track than a road car with much more power. It's not about max power, it's about power-to-weight and handling. Wow, some guy made a Commodore that has 900HP on a dyno. How well does it go around a track not sideways? There is such a thing as TOO much power (note how the Veyron is SLOWER around the Top Gear test track than a Caterham RS500, which has about a quarter of the power.....)

And since when do NASCARs drift? They run on ovals primarily for crying out loud. They DRAFT, you idiot. Slipstream. Efficiency. Aerodynamics. They don't drift. They _do_ slide when they get whacked in an accident, but that isn't deliberate, nor are they using that as a technique to go around a corner.

  7. not sure how its possible these could work without getting an RPM signal from either the Ignition, or the Crank Angle Sensor. Seems like the ciggie socket would be for power only??? not sure.

Generally it's said that they pick up on the high-frequency ripple that you'll get in the whole power supply because of the coil collapsing. Whether or not it actually works, or is reliable, I don't know.

Same kind of way that you get static/whining in the radio if you don't have a suppressor on your alternator (except with voltage ripple as opposed to EM ripple)

  8. except it is worth noting that with L, red and green p plates you aren't allowed a single drop of alcohol in your blood :P

Same here. Back when I originally got my red Ps, it was 0.02, now it's zero. That's one of my main reasons to get my blacks....well, that and my green Ps run out in February. And the F3 freeway.

  9. thanks for the help guys.

i went to the NVIDIA website and downloaded the latest driver. its all clear and im REALLY happy with how its looking!

  10. thats harsh, in QLD the difference between red P and green P is that red doesnt let you have passangers after 11pm. and we cant have turbo charged cars... unless their deisel! and with learners its 100hrs of driving, however good news for the older folks, you just need to keep your Ls for 1 year and its straigh to opens or red p's for 6 months, cant remember..

We've got similar things too between red and green about passengers, using mobiles etc, but I can't remember all the details because I was on my greens before they were introduced. Same goes for turbo/supercharged etc, except for diesels and some select models which have high safety (like low-blow Saabs, Mercs etc, I THINK, this was changed) or are so obviously not a danger (Copen/kei cars)

  11. Hiro,

Sorry, I didn't edit my first post in time.

When I did my Ps in WA, it was pretty much the same as NSW (eg. my first day of driving by myself was immediately after I had passed the practical).

Now its a bit backwards. You do your basic computer test to get the Ls. Then after you have had enough instruction, you take a practical to get to phase 2 - this means that if you pass the test, you then get a log book to do your hrs. You are now also permitted to drive supervised on the freeways.

Once you log enough hours, you sit another computer test - voila, you have your P's.

    http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/licensing/learnerdrivers/1476.asp

Wow that sounds like a crappy system.....you have to sit an extra test just to be able to use the freeways? Then again, L-platers on the F3 over here are the bain of many an interstate driver, 80km/h compared to 110km/h trucks is not a good idea - nothing wrong with limiting them to 80 on backroads etc, but bump it up to 90 or 100 for the freeway for crying out loud. If someone hits an L-plater on the freeway, it's equivalent to hitting a stationary car at 30km/h, which is significant.

  12. Ive done the test stupid...

Obviously you guys do things differently over there on the other side of the world, because here we have to do a driving test before we get our Ps, as in that very day, not weeks in advance, and you have to have done all your hours beforehand. And if you do that driving test in an auto, you are restricted to driving an auto for the first 12 months of your Ps, unless you have a supervising driver or retake the test in a manual car.

    So don't call me stupid.

    Hiro,

Over in WA you still do a test a you do in the east. But instead of having 2 different colour P's (ala NSW), they have 2 different stages of L plates (computer tests and a log book) - then a practical test for your provisional license. If she hasn't got her P plates yet, and is still on the second phase of her L plates, then she hasn't done the final practical yet...

So is it that final practical test which determines whether or not you can drive auto on your Ps?

And by the sounds of it, your Ls are basically the same as us, we have a computerised knowledge test to get our Ls, then we're on a log-book for 120 hours (with supervisor, obviously) and min. 6 months, then a practical driving test to get our red Ps and our independence. Only difference between the two stages of our Ps is that you do a hazard perception test, you can go 100km/h instead of 90, and any transmission license restrictions from your driving test are removed.

  13. aaah no.... this was mates rates under the book.... in the spraypainters own time..... so now me and my mum have to try and fork out to get it done on the books.... and not at my ex's work. They are farking dodge diescriminating coonts.

That's business for you. Unless you are on _seriously_ good terms with the person doing the work, ALWAYS get things in writing.

And how exactly are they dodgy and discriminating? You're essentially asking them a favour and avoiding correct business practice by going under the books, so really you were asking for it. Such is life when you cut corners and costs.

  14. No what i mean is pay the bill for the usage of bog n **** and tke it home all primerd and ready to paint... they wont fkn paint it.... now my families money has to be involved in this fkin car cause of a farking grumpy ****e coont.

You've just learned the importance of having a written quote and contract.

  15. hey everybody i need help and this site has offerd me lots of it

i seen a pair of m3 mirrors i gonna buy but i don't reali know wat else i can buy to make my car look mean

    sean

No, by the sounds of it you want to make it look like it came out of Need For Speed Underground. And don't care that it will drive like a nugget, because it will look fully sik hektik bro.

    Please don't. Just, don't.

  16. Ive done the test stupid...

  17. who cares if his drivin an auto seriously i mean the fastest cars in the world are tecniqually autos so wats the difference if he wats a more powerful corolla auto maybe he also wants to make a bit of a drag car out of it best drag cars are auto and i know a corolla will never be a 6sec rocket but if he has an auto he could do cosistant numbers and with the wright engine trans and suspension package any where from 12-high 9's is achiveable in a front driver

ps go for a 4AGE 20v and turbo it it flows like a 2.0L and the conversion will be much easier then a 3sgte im talking 2 engine mounts front of motor and end of trans only no cuting or bashing required

There is a whole world of difference between an auto transmission you see behind a sub-10 second drag car, a $200,000 BMW semi-auto, and a 4-speed slushbox you get behind a Corolla or Celica. In turn I'd say that note how many non-drag race cars are auto.

We're talking about a road car, with a road-car engine, to be driven relatively often with relatively cheap components, and minimal hassle in the conversion. In this situation, a manual is easily the better choice, to better utilise the engine under the hood. Limiting it to an auto simply because of a licensing issue is being narrow-minded. Wait until the license condition has expired, learn how to drive manual, or find something more appropriate.

Oh and by the way guys, the OP is a SHE, not a HE.

  18. I think it's still quite a long way until they can domintate F1 world title.

It's sad to see Honda left the F1 championship, they have strong history and was once dominating the championship, with Senna on board. Since then, I wonder what happened to them.

Honda as a manufacturer hadn't been around since the '60s before they started the BAR partnership. In the 80s they were only the engine supplier for Williams, McLaren, Lotus etc.

  19. Now in my eyes a 22-RE motor is an excelent option, but , seing your motor has very very low km's on it and if it runs well keep it and let it serve out some more time as they are worth nothing to sell and if it's the celica powerplant ( 21-RC ) your onto a reliable and trustworthy piece of machinery.

    hope this helps!

If it's an XT130, then it's the 1X Starfire POS (as I noted above). Pretty sure only the RT133 liftbacks had an R-series engine, unless of course this one has had an engine change in it's lifetime...
