  1. will do cheers mate. if i do gearbox oil what oil do you recommend for that and what number thing to get? stock brake fluid should be fine yea? its only new still.
  2. ^^^hahaha thanks for the feedback guys. so can anyone tell me the right sort to get like the numbers on the front of the bottle? i hate choosing oil. ill go with a synthetic. so back to the actual question, change the oil before or after the track day??? brakes will be fine ill see what there like after the day itself. i had stock pads and rotors on my other car and it was fine.

  4. hello again. im going on a track day on nov 18, just wondering if its best to change the oil and oil filter before or after the track day? the car has done about 5000 km on this oil and its running the factory toyota stuff. apart from a few drag race runs it hasnt had much of a hard time over the 5k km. and when i do change it what oil should i use, genuine toyota or? its still only new so i dont want toyota getting suspicious so ill go with a genuine oil filter though cheers

  6. pretty crap to be honest, seems to have lost torque and its not even that loud, can barely hear it. got 2.25" from the hotdog back with a muffler only noise it makes is a very subtle rumble at low revs.

  8. cheers mate, should have some fun along the way. enkeis were 16x7 i think had 205/45/16 tires, lightweight and i think 40 was the offset. got them from jdm wheel imports Just for safety, please upgrade your brake pad first before going to your first track day, the factory pad is pretty ****ty, I use Remsa, you can order from GSL rallsport in queensland.. Change your tyres as well to a better one would be better nah man it will be fine for the first one anyway iv done plenty of track days before and iv pushed the corolla pretty hard through the mountains and pretty well know the limits of the car at the moment besides tires are pretty much brand new still and i cant afford to go get different ones. brakes will be fine, i let them cool if i feel brake fade which i got in my other car i had. haha i know right pretty much identical. if we were in the same state we could get pictures taken of the twins hahaha when mine is lowered of course

  10. prob wont have poke anytime soon but hopefully have it lowered in a couple of months prob after the first track day then ill get it done and go back again see how much it improves :) nah they are enkei rpf1s on the swift in 16" :) loved that car so much

  12. cheers man, hopefully ill get a few pics at the track day so keen its been over a year since iv been on one. the swift was a top little car hey, had coilovers, bigger brakes, catback and intake oh and bucket seats from a different swift haha. the thing was a go kart man i used to get oversteer when pushing on mt runs ahaha the good ol days. basically do the same to the corolla as i did the swift.
  13. Hey, Im wanting to paint the center caps on the stock wheels of my zre. my question is how do i mask the inside of the toyota badge so the backing of the cap doesnt get painted just the toyota badge itself? outside should be easy to mask. any help would be awesome cheers
  14. Hey guys, Since Iv been roaming the forum and asking questions for a while now I thought I would start a build thread since things are slowly getting underway. Iv got a 2012 Toyota Corolla ascent sport in silver, had it only a few months and im loving it. Its a good allrounder IMO, I have always wanted (and still do) a wrx or turbo forester but havent got around to getting one yet but cant beat the fuel economy, comfort and handling and even the power from the zre for a 1.8 its really not bad. Before the corolla I owned a ute for about a month and hated it but before that I had a 2006 suzuki swift with the normal mods done but ended up selling it to my sister. (picture below) Now onto the corolla, its got... 35% window tint painted front toyota badge front cusco strut brace rear kmac 20mm sway bar 2 1/4" catback from the torpedo thing Future plans include... Injen CAI Pedders coilovers Xforce catback (current setup is s**t) Then continue the track days and drag racing :) Thanks for looking.
  15. turbo would be nice haha yea i thought of the hotter days would affect it and the last drag night it was a bit hotter but still think the exhaust has also changed things
  16. hey guys, thinking of getting myself a ep91 starlet and doing a 4efte conversion. Apart from the motor and gearbox what else will i need? (apart from upgraded brakes and suspension, that will be done) Need to do anything to fueling etc? cheers
  17. i know coilovers are better i stated that in my first post i had them in my old swift but just was wondering how springs would go for now as i wont be able to afford coilovers for quit some time. also i know camber doesnt help in straight line but i spend alot of time going around corners so it will help there, dont want too much dialed in anyway as it would wear the tires alot more on the street might go to pedders and see what the cost difference is between the 2 might not be worth getting the springs who knows

Also if you go back to the 1/4 mile while stock, you can get a couple of old bump stops, cut it down the side, and then cable tie them onto your rears to help reduce you car squatting when you launch. But at the end of the day, you should be aiming to get these great times without aids like stripping out the car etc. You only end up cheating yourself. thats exactly right, ill strip it out one day but for now ill just keep trying to get my best while its pretty well stock which it is apart from the exhaust so might try a CAI and a few other little things then just keep practicing (iv been plenty of times before just not in this car) and ill see how it goes. at the end of the day i only go to have fun if i want a car that runs 14s ill buy a different car but for now the rollas good for me ;)
  19. hey guys, another quick question i know coilovers are the best option to go had them on my last car but how good/bad are lowering springs compared to them? im wanting coils but cant afford them and probably not for a while so i was thinking of going springs for now which will be lower enough for now and would improve handling but dont want it to be too harsh on the road. my last car was like that and it was a nightmare, handled extremly well just was pretty bump haha was thinking pedders lowering springs and front camber bolts :) cheers
  20. ok sweet ill leave the octane booster alone does thinner oil mean less protection? do you know what oil toyota run from factory? (havent looked in service manual) whats a good oil you would recommend? id like to change it after the track day anyways as it will still be a while till the next service
  21. i know less weight will make a difference just wondering why the exhaust has made a difference in the wrong direction. its actually disappointing the time im currently running yes its stock and yes i have a great time everytime i go but i thought it might get a low 17 or high 16 just from what iv seen with the old zze models i know these zre's weigh more but i had high hopes haha doesnt really matter though its fun and legal thats all that matters to me. take some weight out soon and well see how i go, going on a track day on the 18th of novemeber so might take some weight out and leave it out for the drags too so still no opinions on CAI???????
  22. im only currently using 95 but i prefer 98 and weather it gives you 'performace' gains i dont know but i do know its is alot better for your engine especially when your flogging it and its safer so id use that, might try octane booster though to see if it does anything just hope it doesnt hurt the engine. do you think suspension mods will work? iv been thinking of lowering it but cant afford coilovers yet as thats what i want but was thinking of just using springs for a while? even that would go nicely with my rear swaybar for through the corners, i dont have any traction issues though atm when im at the drags. also any opinions on the CAI option? would this go nicely with the exhaust or not worth it?
  23. i think thats exactly what the exhaust has done its either taken torque away or moved it further up in the revs. i was gonna do that one day might take rear seats out and carpet and other things i dont need in there haha i was considering octane booster, does that hurt engines though running extra octane or is just like using 98 instead of 91? can i run 98 and octane booster? and how do i reset the ecu? im currently using 95 octane.
  24. what rpm would you recommend i launch at? i hold it on 2500 rpm then take off and plant it
  25. If your trap speed is higher you have more power. The reason why you are slower is at the other end of the strip; as DJKOR says, there are quite a few variables for this. How do the 60' times compare? I actually thought my trap speed was higher but i just had a look at the slips and its only about 1-2 km/h more but 60 foot times are higher in my recent runs. time before last i was averaging 2.7 but this time i went it was averaging 3 so quit a bit slower. iv got a feeling the exhaust has had an impact i know there are other facotrs but i reckon the max torque has been moved further along in the rev range? only because even on the street you can really feel nothing unless your well over 4000 rpm now unlike before thats why if i reved righ to redline i got the best time of the night. yea i did consider this, temp/humidity last time i went was around 18 deg and 55-60 but the most recent time it was 23 deg and 70-80 so quit alot different
