  1. My brothers friend bought a new 4wd Toyota and it kept on going back and forth for repair. He finds out that the parts that were failing were the ones made in China. He's a mechanic so decides to buy the parts that are made in Japan and teh problems with the fuel injector and everythiung else now working much better. And that is the problem with things that are to cheap to be true. Its the same with most things. Not everything made in China is bad but odd how a Japanese made car doesn't have the same faults as cars with Chinese made parts. The major brands are all doing it now. Panasonic dvd / recorders used to be great when made in Japan. These Chinese made ones are no where near as good and don't last more than 18 months before they start to fail where ones made years earlier are still going strong. The Japanese model ones had a steel tray where the Chinese new models are plastic and you can guess they simply don't last that long before they break. Ahh ok. So going from 2 examples, that means that ALL things made in China don't last. Gotcha. No I did not say that. You said that. Like I've said many times on this forum. Not everything made in China is bad. And like I've said a friends brand new 4wd had problems on the Chinese made parts of his 4wd and after getting it fixed by toyota with the same Chinese parts and constantly going back and forth he then decided to buy Japanese made parts of a better quality and the problems went away and he finds he has more power when accelerating.

  3. This artical explains it. http://factsanddetails.com/china.php?itemid=360 Personally I would rather I buy a car with all its parts not made in China. Don't know what you all think but found that Chinese made are not as good as Japanese made. When I bought my Corolla last year the rrp was $27000 now they are around $20,000 with more gadgets in them like gps car nav. These car companies all get certain parts made in China. Mercedes-Benz, Ford, General Motors, Suzuki, Daihatsu, Honda, Subaru, Citreon Toyota all have plants in China. I rather pay more for quality over super cheap. Why can't they do two models, one with parts made in China and one with all parts made and assembled in Japan.
  4. My car still has paint stains in it and I still have a car tyre with a deep cut on the outside and was promised a third set or keys and mats so can't do much about that. All that is happening is my car is having a service. The paint stains I will have to put up with or get a new car door which are not cheap. Toyota Australia ought to be getting it fixed their end. All they do is contact the dealer that sold me the car and tell them to contact me which this last time they haven't. I wouldn't buy a toyota again.
  5. I get my car serviced on Dec 30 which is now only 11 days away. Why I couldn't have it done weeks ago will remain a great mystery. The loud banging sound from the rear of the car has gone away but will get them to look at it. While its getting serviced I'll ask about what they plan to do with the paint stains that were on the door from day one. Surely they should replace it with a new door. I'm getting the car serviced at the other car yard and not the place that I bought it from.
  6. I bought My Toyota Corolla Hatch Automatic back in Dec of 2011 for $24000 which included $3000 for a trade in from my previous Corolla Hatch. The cars are much cheaper and I suspect its because they are using some parts made in China. My car had no GPS car navigation system where the new model does. The new model car is about $7000 cheaper from the retail price of $27000 from when I bought. The currency is about what it was a year ago so why with so many new features are the cars so much cheaper. One of my brothers friends bought a new Toyota 4wd (think it wasd a land cruiser) anyway the 4wd was going back and forth with the dealer. The parst that were failing were made in China. In the end being a mechanic he bought it better quality parts made in Japan and fixed up the car so it would have more power from the fuel injector and other parts he bought it so he didn't have to go back and forth with the dealer. Like I said in another thread about this, not everything made in China is bad but for a new model 4wd to have such problems in the first place isn't to good. When I am buying anything I do my research and look for review sites along with owners review sites and go from there. There seems to be quite a bit of discussion on Chinese made parts in the latest Toyotas in car clubs around Perth. I like the back of the new Toyota but the front looks like a smiling face to me and would put me off buying it. My 2011 Toyota Corolla hatch looks better at the front and the newer car model looks lower to the ground which doesn't appeal to me. I prefer my model car which is quite high off the ground so that if I am turning left and a 4wd is turning right I can at least see through his car windows to see if the road is clear. We'll have to wait and see about how well these new Corollas run after 6 months or so to see if anything goes wrong with them. The corolla I have had a banging sound coming from the back rear of the car which seems to have since disappeared. Toyota couldn't see a problem but will get a full service in the new year which I had to wait a few months as they refused to do it before which is quite odd with any Toyota dealer in Perth. Saw what I thought was the new toyota on the road but turned out to be another brand of car which looked a bit better. Think it was a VW or something.
  7. More to do with the dealer. If I had of known about this forum I would have posted a question on where in Perth is a good honest car yard. I've since found another Toyota dealer in Perth which so far seem very honest. In the age of the blog I don't know why the car dealer in question are doing this. I would have pushed them harder long ago but I hads to look after my Dad with Alzheimers who went down hill then died mid year. There was more important things to do at the time and after his passing. Its only now that I have more free time to get this sorted out. Where I picked it up the new car it was in a hanger where the light was a bit darker than outside. And when I picked it up my first thoughts were it looks a nice car and I looked forward to driving it. My mind was elsewhere with excitement of buying my new car. When I go to buy anything new I expect it to be just that new. Sure there can be DOA things boughts at shop and a simple replacement takes place. I can't believe they sold a car with paint stains inside the car door. Its pretty poor. Recently I noticed in the manual on page two where there is a check list and one of them was in the car. The whole check list is suppose to be ticked off and signed by the sales manager but this wasn't ticked or signed by anyone so they trhemselves have forgotton to fill it in. My eye attention was the dashboard and the controls. I didn't think of looking at the car interior doors dfown the side. When I was looking at buying they said I would get mats inside the car and that boot mat so that if I was placing heavy objects in the boot that I could slide the mat over where the back hatch boot door is to protect it. When I bought it there was no mats in it. Was suppose to get a third set of car keys as well. Don't know if this is normal behavoir from sales but when I was buying it and had paid the money with a bank cheque I was then taken into another room where they offer a 12 month and two year entended warranty. They really push this but I said it was a complete waste of money as Toyota's never break down going on my previous Toyota Corolla which I had for 17 years and that never broke down at any point. It did need work later on though. Anyway this bald headed chap said I should get entended warranties because there maybe problems with the engine and other stuff. He was really pushing me to pay the extra $1500 for a two year extended warranty but I wasn't going to budge knowing full well these are a waste of time. To stop him saying I must do this because the car will break down I said well if its that bad maybe I should abort the transaction. Then he stopped his chatter and immediatly said that the car should be ok and tehy were very reliable and he then said that the problem was with european cars. My advice take a recording device in when buying a Toyota car from any dealer. I've kept all my emails over this since I bought the car back in Dec of 2011. There is no way I will ever go back there again. I wiull get my car serviced from another Toyota dealer. Toyota Australia did get back to me after 3 weeks. Maybe oinly because I said I posted the paint stain on the car door in a Toyota forum. Toyota said they contacted the dealer in question and the dealer said to Toyota that they had tried to contact me but I never replied which is a lie. Each time when they contact me I say what about the paint stains and they choose to ignore it so no way will I go near them. I find it amazing that they can do this to a customer of theirs. Our family has been sending our cars there for nearly 20 years. Starting to think the last two years when they said my previous Toyota needed $2400 and then $900 work may have been a bit dodgy. The car warranty appartently doesn't cover 5 parts of the car which I find odd. The ABS brakes and I think the battery. I can see if a customer stops to hard all the time will ware out the brakes but what if after a week the brakes are stuffed. Over all I'm happy with the car performance. I wish thogh that they would make modern cars of all brands where it was possible to see the front of the car. When going through narrow gaps its always a guess as to how far out I am. Parking isn't much fun either. The car is quite wide. Wider than my parents Avalon. It only just gets in the garage and thanks to the mirrors folding in I would never get it in without hitting something.
  8. A sign of the times though. They are all pretty much cutting costs to make the cars cheaper. Sooner or later the whole car will probably be made in China and then it will be cross your fingers and hope for the best. Not everything made in China is bad but for my brothers friend who bought a brand new Toyota 4WD and for him to have to fix it himself with better parts so that the car would run better doesn't say much. Expect to see many more people posting about new car problems in the coming months. Good will is everything in business. Drop the good will and see the business go down the drain. I went for new Toyota Corolla Ascent Hatch Auto 2011 model when I bought it last December because my previous Toyota Corolla lasted so well for the 17 years that I had it for. If I was buying now I really don't know what I would buy. The latest Corollas look lower to the ground so that wouldn't appeal to me and I'd be wanting to know if any of the parts are made in China. That would be the first question I would ask and if they say no I would want them to put it in writing and sign it.
  9. Toyota Australia finally got back to me. Amazing!!!!!!!!!! They say the car dealer in question has contacted me many times about getting the car in for a service and that I have not contacted them. I have emails back and forth about my car door and each time they refuse to reply about this matter. The car group that owns this car yard and others has also chosen to ignore my requests on why paint stains were on the interior of the car door. There is also some paint stains on the other car door. They are saying that the dealer will service the car but are not saying anything about the paint stains. I can't believe they are still ignoring this. Here is the image of the paint stains on the car door. As you can see the inside of the car door is quite faded as well where my other car doors the interior is much blacker. There are also these scratch marks on the inside handle to open the car door. I'm of the opinion its spare door from another car or I was sold a demo car. Lesson here is when buying take a lawyer to the car yard along with a video camera.
  10. Have to agree with you mate, some stuff from China is pretty good but other stuff are very dodgy - in the end it's just cost to their business that matters to them sometimes. I'm sure most of us are happy to pay the extra $$$ to get better stuff vs getting the cheaper stuff and lower quality at a lower cost - after all you're putting 20-35k down already for the car. My brother was explaining to me that his friends Toyota that started to break down was on the Chinese made parts so what he's now doing is buying in other parts not made in China that are of a stronger design and he's fixing up his car himnself. I can for see that techno minded people could start a business up by replacing the poorly designed parts for higher quality parts. I saw on the news last night, maybe Today Tonight was doing it where a car fixer place had cameras on the work that was being done and that the customer could see the mechanics working on the car which is a brilliant idea. The car fixer place was in Sydney. Called C U Us or something like that. If they come to Perth I'd go there to get my car serviced over Toyota doing it.
  11. 9 days after I sent my email about the car door again to Toyota Customer Experience Centre via email all I've had is that automated reply on Nov 20. How can they ignore this. Here is the paint stains on the car door. Another family member wants to buy a car and after this messing around by Toyota Australia I think we will go another brand of hatchback car.
  12. The car is $7000 cheaper than my Toyota Corolla Hatch Auto yet it appears to have more stuff in it like a GPS which mine doesn't have. For them to make it so much cheaper I would fear that to many of thg parts maybe made in China. Know a friend who bought a Toyota 4wd and has broken down a bit and the parts made in China were the faulty parts. Not everything made in China is bad but its far cheaper. That does worry me. Seen this with other products where when they were made in Japan they last far longer than parts made in China.
  13. In Perth WA its called the Department of Commerce and I get the feeling no work is ever done. They often refer me to the ACCC and the ACCC refer me back to the Department of Commerce. Its a merry go round service we have here in Perth:( Which City of Aust did fair trading work for that customer please ? And if pushed hard enough they will look into it but rarely ever get back. Either understaffed or no one is working as they should be. Bit like when I bought a T-Hub from Telstra. Took me two years to get a refund and that was really hard work with me on the phone for many hours to Telstra each month. For those thinkning about the T-Hub's forget it. They don't work as advertised. The ACCC and the Department pf Commerce were no help at all.
  14. When I was buying my Toyota Corolla Ascent Hatch last December the sales lady said the car could also be used as a manual. I asked how does that work as that was news to me. She said she didn't know and just use it as an automatic. The gearbox is weird for an automatic. Its not straight up and down but looks like a manual gearbox. I can't see anything in the manual about this so maybe she was just feeding me a line. My knowledge isn't with cars. It's called semi-auto but the problem is I think your car doesn't have that - it just has 3, 2 and L - correct me if I'm wrong? I know this new model has the proper semi-auto with shift pedals or whatever behind the steering wheel and the plus and minus on the gear stick. On a think gear 3 it can go either side but never tried it. I think its 3, 2 and 1. I'll take a digital picture of the gearbox today and post it. My car is the Toyota Corolla Ascent Hatchback, automatic bought Dec of 2011. Don't suppose there is a pdf manual of the car so I can search for certain words to scan through the manual faster ?
  15. Yes. Toyota Corolla Ascent Hatch Automatic. Colour Tungston which I like for a colour but I notice they no longer use this colour with the newer models. I like how when I am turning left and if a 4wd is turning right I can see through the windows of the 4wd to see if its clear so that I can turn left. My previous Toyota Corolla hatchback was much lower and all I ever saw was the 4wd doors. I went Toyota Corolla hatch for two reasons. My previous Toyota lasted 17 years and these later ones are higher off the ground. The Hyundai's seem lower down like the new Toyota Corolla which looks I think better at the back but I prefer the front design on my 2011 Toyota Corolla. I nearly went the sports model but decided the Ascent would suit me better as the Sports model had leather seats and here in Perth where the weather is mainly hot I didn't want my legs sticking to the leather seats so went the Ascent with the fabric seats. My car is all black inside. Wish they would have used a cooler colour as my car gets very hot and I always have to have the air conditioner on. Its taken a while to get used to I must admit. The gearbox took me a few monthsd to get used to especially at night where I would have to put the interior light on to see which gear to put the car into. My older Toyota had I think as easier gearbox where it was up and down where as you know with these it looks more like a manual gear stick going off sideways. That steer lock button above the gearbox stick doesn't seem to have any purpose. If I press it, it doesn't seem to do anything. Does your one work ?
  16. If I did that I would never see the car again:( My front car tyre had a deep cut in it from the side as well. Other stains on the other door and all these scratch marks. I'm of the opinion I was sold a demo car and not a new car. When I was looking to buy they kept on saying they had a good demo model car hardly used but I didn't wnat a demo car that time round, I wanted a new car. I paid $27,000 for the Toyota Corolla Ascent Hatch. Was able to get $3000 trade in on my old Corolla which had done 92,000KM. They really are a dealer to avoid. Since discovered others that they have treated very poorly by the dealer in question. I won't post the dealer in question. I complained to the sales manager, the group that owned this car yard along with others and Toyota Australia. All do NOT want to know about it. They just hope I lay down and do nothing. I would have done something earlier but with my father getting ill then passing away there was more important things to do. I've contactred Toyota Australia again and again recently and all I ever get are automated replies. I see these ads on TV in Perth about Toyota advertising their service centres across Perth and have to wonder why they don't do anything about a new car they sold me in this terrible condition inside the car. Its re sale value will be no where near it would have been if it was a new car with no scratches, no paint stains etc.... When I went to buy I was told I would get three sets of car keys. They only supplied two. I argue with them and they say that they had made a mistake and I was only ever to get two sets. I contact my lawyer and they agreed to give me the third set. I then email them what about my other problems with the car and that is when it starts to get really nasty. They say they can't give me a third set of car keys because they already did when I picked up the car which is a downright lie. My advice, anyone buying a new Toyota in Perth, have a recorder on you all set your mobile to record a video of the transaction so when it goes sour it won't be your word over theirs. I've recorded all my emails back and forth about the car keys where they were to give them to me then changed their minds when I asked about all the other problems like the paint stains. Toyota Australia won't even service my new car:( I've contacted other dealers in Perth and they say Toyota Australia says I must bring in in late December right smack in the middle of the holiday season. I was to bring the car in a month or two ago but with my Dad dying there were more important things to do. I mentioned that to Toyota Australia but they didn't seem to care. I did find another Toyota dealer in Perth which seem honest but they can't service the car until late December. It must be on a central database when new cars are sent in for servicing nationwide. What a terrible way to run a business:( I would have thought no need for an advertising campaign, all that is needed is to service new customers well and good will should take care of the rest. Youtube is my next port of call. I've emailed the news media but doubtful if anything will come of it. To much advertising revenue for them to put that at risk. Youtube maybe my only answer. That or demonstrating outside their offices.

  18. I've posted a few images but after about 6 hours they get deleted from the attachment box. Am I doing something wrong please ? I upload to the attachment folder but it doesn't seem to last there very long. I notice there are gallery folders. Am I suppose to transfer the photos to these folders to keep themn from being deleted.
  19. I wouldn't be buying that model because its not high enough of the ground. I like my Toyota Corolla Hatch Automatic bought last Dec as its much higher off the ground and I can see through the windows of 4wd's where lower designed cars like the Hyandai all one sees is the car door of the 4wd which I do not much care for. I like the higher off the ground cars so that when I'm turning left and a 4wd is turning roght I can see the traffic through the window of the 4wd. My 2011 Corolla only has a 3 speed automatic. I would like to see a 4 speed auto like the Hyundai's. I know one Toyota dealer I would never ever go to again as when I bought a new Toyota Corolla Hatch Auto in Dec of 2011 when I got home the family noticed these huge paint stains on the door. When I contacted them they chose to ignore me. Here is the image of the paint stain on the inside of the car door. And no not seen any on the road or in Toyota car yards anywhere. Drive past 3 today and all they seem to be selling are the model Toyot aI bought last year. Perhaps no stock in Perth yet. umm.. I'm pretty sure all corollas since the 90s are 4 speed automatics? ZREs are 6 speed manual or 4 speed automatic however being in 2012/2013 it really should be 5 speed automatic by now. My older Corolla which was 17 years old was only 3 speed auto. I don't think my new Toyota is a 4 speed auto. If I accelerate to fast the whole car revs up and slows back like my Dad's Corolla bought 18 years ago. To go quickly from a stopping position I have to slightly touch the gas pedal and slowly press my foot down. Its a much smoother ride car than I have ever owned before. Maybe you are right. Maybe it is 4 speed but remember buying the Toyota and finding out later that the Hyundai's have the extra 1 speed for the automatic. I went Toyota as my previous Toyota Corolla lasted quite well up to the 15 year mark before it was getting quite expensive as one would expect in the next two years. Must say it took me a while to work out how the new gearbox for the automatic worked as on my previous Corolla it was up and down only where the new one is liek a manual stick where the automatic gears are off into side directions. Don't know why they did that. I think I prefer the up and down design like on my older Corolla. Here is an image of my Toyota which I think looks nicer at the front than the new Toyota Corolla. However the back of the new Toyota Corolla I think looks much nicer than my car.
  20. 21. I keep on uploading an image to the Attachment folder only to find the next day the image is no longer there. What am I doiong wrong please ? When I post an image I go to My Media, then toi the Attachments folder and then pick out the picture file. I notice there are picture folders there as well but have no idea how to upload them to that folder. Here is the picture that keeps on getting deleted. The image is from my new Toyota that had paint stains on the door of the car.
  22. hmm could you explain? from my personal understanding is whether it's in neutral or it's in gear, so long as you are not pressing on the accelerator and you are letting it coast, it should use the same amount of fuel. I think in nuetral is uses less fuel than not putting the pedal on the gas pedal plus the car seems to roll further than when its not on the gas pedal for a manual car that is. It was used by quite a few of us going backi 30 years where if driving a manual car you could drop it into neutral and coast the car. You just wouldn't do that in an automatic car. Don't know if modern cars can do it. Gear boxes seem to be a lot differnt than 30 years ago. When dropping it into neutal and then really coast the car for quite a bit. Brakes work when coasting in a manual when in neutral then when the car starts to slow up I would drop it back into 3rd or fourth depending on the speed of the car. Would not advise placing an automatic in neutral to coast a car as the brakes do not work that well in nuetral and may stuff up the gear box when going from nuetral to automatric. My autromatic I don't really coast it, I just don't need to press the foot on the gas pedal as the car seems to coast along for quite a distance.
  23. Yeah exactly as Hiro said - not to mention that if you're not driving fast enough and too slow around the corner, chances are you're going to have to change gears driving manual while making a corner :) Sounds about right though for an Integra: http://www.ozhonda.c...gra-s-All-Types They all seem to be doing between 450-600kms on a 50L tank Don't know how its possible to do above 500KM a tank myself. Maybe my car isn't that fuel effeciant. All I get is 460KM to 467KM a tank. I use my car around the city and not gone on any freeway since buying this car. I travel along West Coast highway a fair bit. Many traffic lights along that road so its stopping and startinmg a fair bit. Wish the newer hatch backs had a larger boot like my previous Toyota Corolla did. And why they don't give the owner of a new car any mats on the floor of the car or a boot mat. When I was buying my new car it was suppose to have these mats in it. The sales lady was highlighting them.
  24. I own an automatic, not a manual. I do not put it in neutral to coast. All I do is take my foot of the accerator pedal and the car coasts along for 200m or so at a steady speed of 60km down to 50km. The only time I ever drove a manual car was before I owned a car and drove my parents manual cars. I bought my first car nearly 30 years ago in a Ford Escort auto. My parents moved up to automatic transmission cars not long after I bought mine. Not driven a manual car since. To illustrate how well it coasts I'll upload my carcam video to Youtube when I set up an account. Can Youtube share codes be added to this forum so that a Youtube video canbe played in a post ?
  25. I'll post a larger image. Here is a larger image at 222k. The other one I had takes to long to load. I've contacted other Toyota dealers and they tend to look on a computer and tell me they won't service until late December. I took my car in to have a look at the loud noise that sometimes is heard when in the car coming from the rear left side. Their main techo guy wasn't there but I have it booked in for later this month. They won't do a car service though which I still find odd. You'd think they would want to get it out of the way without me needing to come backl there in 5 weeks time. The blame for that has to go to Toyota Australia. I tried many times with the Toyota dealer I bought it from. When I got an injury my DR asked how things were going and I said they could be better but for what was happening wioth Toyota. He asked which dealer and I told him and he said he too had a terrible experience with that dealer. Since found a few others had bad experiences with them as well. There are some good Toyota dealers in Perth. Its a matter of asking around before buying I guess. My next idea is to upload a video to Youtube.
