I just bought a 2009 Corolla Ascent with 4speed auto trans. It doesn't have overdrive. How can I fit overdrive? Do I need a different transmission and which one will do the trick?

you dont need to fit overdrive, the overdrive is "3"

Modern transmissions don't have a specific "overdrive" function, however top gear in a 4-speed will be an "overdrive" ratio
