  1. Most of you probably don't care about fuel economy, but for those interested I just got 821k out of a tank, it took 58 litres to fill it, 50% of driving was on freeways sitting on 100kph. Thats 7.1 Lt/100k or 40mpg in the old measure, I recon 900k is not impossible if you drive like granny. My worst is 8.5 Lt/100k. So how does your 2zz perform on the fuel usage ????
  2. Just had my clutch adjusted at Lexus of Brisbane, they did a great job, the mechanic only had to look at the clutch pedal and said it looks a little low. It now works great and didn't take me long to get used to the different take up point at the clutch pedal. No guesses where I'll be taking my Sportivo for future services.
  3. What were the built dates for your Stivos? ← Build date Z51 FEB 04 Transmisstion/axcel A850 G770 and it's Black
  4. MTBrider, you beat me to it, here's my story:- Last Monday I took my Sportivo in for a service and asked them to check out the 1st to 2nd gear shift at high RPM, when I got the car back they said they found nothing wrong. I asked if the foreman would come for a drive with me, after I shifted from 1st to 2nd at 8,000 he said I was shifting wrong, I said why doesn't it do it when I shift at 6,000 RPM, he said it will always be a little more difficult at higher RPM cause the synco's have to work harder?? MTBrider and I had a test drive of each others car today, First MTBrider drove my Sportivo and his first reaction was how different the clutch felt, he said it felt harder and had less slip when taking off and it engaged closer to the floor, after he tried to change from 1st to 2nd at 8,000 rpm said "thats bullsht" he had several attempts to get a clean shift without success. It was then my turn to drive MTBrider's Sportivo, his clutch felt softer and the engage point was a long way off the floor and had more slip, the gear shift from 1st to 2nd at 8,000 rpm was much easier! The difference in feel of the clutch would support my theory that Toyota are using 2 different vendors for their clutches. I feel that the version of clutch in my Sportivo doesn't fully dissengage, surely there must be some sort of adjustment?? I'm taking my Sportivo to a different dealer next week for a second opinion.
  5. The 1ZZFE doesn't spin at 8000revs does it, its when the revs are that high that the stock clutch cannot cope as the heat, vibration and friction level is much greater. I don't know why some people have problems and some don't but that is the question with everything else, like why some people have rattles and some don't. Zee ← Zeerolla you missed my point, I was merely saying that the Sportivo clutch is not a compomise between drivability and performance as stated earlier in this thread. My wife has the Levin model, of which I drive from time to time and the clutch feels soft and lacks bite, unlike my Sportivo's clutch.
  6. I dont buy the "soft clutch" idea, try driving a standard Corolla, the clutch is as soft a marsh mellow. Why doesn't the Celica have the same shifting problem and why only some Sportivos have the shifting problems? Could it be that Toyota have more than one vendor supplying Sportivo clutches of which one is a bit dodgy and its a lottery which one you get? If Toyota do use more than one clutch vendor then they should know which car got which vendor's clutch. They could do a recall but I doubt it.
  7. Sounds like BS to me, mine does the same thing and it seems worse than ever, my next service is in a couple of weeks and I'll get them to look harder this time. I'm no mechanic but I feel that the clutch is not fully dissegaging at high RPM, when I shift in lift it takes a lot off force to get it out of first then crunches into second gear. I've had the recall done. Has anyone asked on the Celica forum if they are having similar problems?
  8. When I first took delivery of my Sportivo the dealer was kind enough to fill it for me, as I drove the car home it felt very sluggish and pinged badly at anything below 2000rpm. When I refilled it with 98ron it trasformed the car into how it should run, the dealer obviously filled it with regular unleaded, fortunately it didn't do it any long term harm, I've now clocked 18,000ks. I can't pick the difference between Ultima or Optimax but with Vortex I do detect a little low rpm pinging due to it's lower octane rating.
  9. Thanks Danthuyer, I bought the Levin on a 2 year lease, just before the Sportivo was released, I was a bit peeved. As soon as the lease ran out I bought the Levin to replace my wifes aging red KE Laser (TX3 look alike). I then got the Sportivo on lease, it was well worth the wait, my son keeps finding hot up bits but I'm happy with how it is, I'm an old hoon not a young hoon. My son is going to buy it when the lease runs out so watch out! Don't know what I'll buy next, may be a Cellica, but the Sportivo has got to be the best value for money.
  10. it is only visible when u open the driver side door, its on the body of the car near the hinges. i can't remember what it had on it but i do remember it had thr date of the recall on it. ← oops sorry I'm new to this. I'll try again. Just had mine done yesterday, I looked everywhere, even the service book but I can't find any silver sticker refering to the recall? yes I checked the drivers door. The car feels stronger from 3000 and I can sill feel a good kick when it hits 6, from idle to 2000 it doesn't ping as much (I use Optimax).
