  1. Still have not done it, been a little under the weather this week. The one thing that still puzzles me is why does the owners manual say the hb3 size when research on this forum i have found that not be correct.

Also for the people that have changed to HID do you have any trouble at rego time getting a pink slip passed?

    No problems till now

What do you mean till now? problem with the police or getting a pink slip done?

  3. lights for the same year models are all the same shape wise. Some are the auto turn jobbies... not sure about those when it comes to replacement bulbs.

Why don't you just modify the bulb? appar all you have to do is take a bit off the tabs?

why are you changing bulbs? sorry mate if i missed this in our pms.

i struggle to get my head around why anyone would want to change these bulbs and why you cant just take your bulb out walk into a shop and get a replacement.

Remember that hole is only 20mm..... if the shank on the other buld your trying to jamm in is thicker your cactus.

I guess just personal choice why i want to change the bulb, I did go to a shop and they say you need a hb3. It's not the case as we know you can't get the HIR1 in any other colour and most shops don't even stock it, they can order it in though.

If i was going to mod the bulb base how would you do it?

  4. H1R1 is what you looking for.

took these pics for you tonight, hope they help.

as in our pms you can use a file or dremel to modify the red back plate, (plastic) but the keying of the back of the reflector would still only allow certain bulb types. (check charts)

  5. * BUMP *

Bumping this old post since i still can't find an answer, if DJKOR was here i would though, bro come back online! :P

anyway i am having trouble in changing to some HB3 or 9005 bulbs they don't seem to click into place in the holder. the owners book say's that they are HB3 in the high beams but it comes with HIR 9011 bulbs?

if anyone could help me that would be great, if you help me ill give you an itunes or xbox or psn card!!

I am going insane trying to find and answer!

  6. So if anyone is interested in doing any mods say a cold air intake or typhoon than and is in NSW then take this into account:

this is off the NSW epa website,

    Filters

When fitting your vehicle with a pod-type air filter you must ensure the fitting does not cause an increase in noise from the air intake system. The EPA considers that this type of modification is acceptable when the air filter element is effectively encased or boxed-in.

So as long as it's in closed than it's fine, and yes you can get defected for it.

not saying you can't put one on but if you want it to be legal keep that in mind. how would you fit it in the air box? anyway?

  7. You can buy a k&n filter element that fits the standard airbox. Before I fitted my cold air intake I managed to get the butterfly in the factory intake to stay open permanently by swapping the vacuum tubes around on the diaphram.

I have that coming in the mail, how do you do swap the butterfly?

  8. Hey all, I am going to have a go at modding the stock air intake to allow more air to enter and better sound.

only because it seems more fun and to learn about the car but also there is more rules here about adding a different filter as it needs to be in a box.

any tips before i start things i should look out for?

ill post updates and pics if anyone''s interested.

  9. Hi, I want to replace my headlights to a different colour and brightness i have done the low beams but the high beams i am having the most trouble.

the problem is that they are HIR headlights while are ok they are too bright and don't work well in the rain (or at least for me)and when i come to a any street sigh i am blinded.

i try replacing them with HB3 which the book stated but don't seem to fit and don't work correct.

Is there any way to get these bulbs to fit or do i have to replace the hole assembly? if so where would the best place to get them from? i did see the mar performance ones but seem a bit pricey.

  10. Hi every body, Recently joined the forum and have been reading but can't find the answers.

I have recently just got a 07' Aurion ATX and one of the rear taillights has a small crack, I want to replace it with a one from a different model maybe a sportivo or zr6 assuming that they will fit. Want genuine but they would cost a lot from toyota locally. does anyone have a idea where i could find them?

Also the headlight bulbs are a Hir1 (HIR BULBS) for the high beam and i can't seem to find any that are more white in colour or am i stuck with the default bulbs for the high beam.

    Thanks in advance

    - Andrew
