  1. I would personally recommend Pacemakers (having used them with great success on an old Datsun SSS Stanza and a XA Falcon), however, I dunno if they make them for a V6 Camry, or for what price if they could/did... If that doesn't work out, just Google/have a look on eBay (that's what I do, lol).
  2. Do you reckon I'd need a new loom, ECU, etc?
  3. I know it's not much, but I am only a povo student (this is my first car), and I have big plans for it. I am currently in the process of repairing it, however. I got it for free, but it has had an extremely hard life, and I am currently repairing the damage caused by her 14 year old son taking it for a unauthorised spin in the paddock... I have also installed a new steering rack, CV boots, and a few other bits and pieces... I'll have to take some more photos later, I've been pretty slack with taking photos of my work... I'm also working toward upgrading the current sound system.
  4. Go and have a talk to your local exhaust shop. Sidenote: extractors are a good mod to do...
  5. No, it probably won't. Go with the recommended one.
  6. That hose that you "fixed" needs replacing. Also check for any other deterioated hoses...
  7. Almost definitely. Replace the cap (and rotor if there is any sign of buildup, cracking, deterioration in general). If it still misses, check your plugs (they may need changing). If you still have issues, change leads, then coils. Also check all connectors are plugged in properly, and all wires etc are in good condition
  8. Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has had any experience turbocharging or supercharging a 1997 Camry (or possibly multicharging..). It is a CSi Manual SXV20 4 cylinder. Just wondering what problems people have encountered, what setups work best (I know some people have turbocharged them..), etc... Thanks in advance!
  9. I've never had this problem, but I'm just throwing a couple of ideas around. Has it had a LPG conversion? If so, it probably shouldn't be running on petrol at all... If you're sure its not a sensor, has the ECU been intercepted/reprogrammed for LPG? Is it running a different cam, or different injectors for LPG? Are all filters fine, and is the fuel pressure ok? (It might be too high because of a restriction on the return line, if it has one). Anyway, let me know how you go.
  10. Hey Guys. So I'm wondering if it's possible to fit ABS from a CSX camry onto a CSi? If so, does anyone have any ideas about what might be involved in achieving this? Also, irrespective of whether that's possible or not, does anyone know of any other parts that might be able to be swapped over from the CSX to the CSi, just to make the car a little nicer? Or does anyone know of any good performance/handling mods? Or any other good ideas? Etc. Thanks in advance!
  11. Hey Guys. This is my first time posting here, so yeah. I am currently 16 years old (waiting the couple of months until I get my Ps), and drive a 97 Camry CSi that I got for free (but has had an incredibly hard life). I also have a school based traineeship with Tamworth City Toyota, so I know a little bit about Toyotas :). So far I've installed new CV boots, new steering rack, all fluids changed to slightly thicker synthetics, all filters including a K and N air filter, new seat covers/dash mat/pedals/floor mats etc to hide interior damage, fixed a whole bunch of front end damage (including a partial respray - with spray cans...), and removed the air con (as I deemed it too expensive and hard to fix for various reasons). Work that still needs to be done includes finishing the front bodywork, sorting out any electrical issues, getting the engine started and making sure it's still running fine, re-registering it (it ran out in September), fixing the central locking, fitting a new "sport muffler" (aka a 'canon' - cheaper than a OEM one), fixing the wheels (CSA mags with extreme gutter rash), fitting HIDs, driving lights, and a reversing light, a sub and a couple of new parcel shelf speakers (already have, just need to install), fixing the rest of the panel damage around the car, get the windows tinted (dark as legally possible), maybe upgrade a few things such as putting a spoiler on it, LEDs all round (including running lights), making my own auto-on headlights, making my own cold-air intake, etc... All on a very tight budget (I don't have much money at all, and I've already spent over $1500 on the darn thing..). Anyway, sorry for the long post. I don't know what else you might want to know (if, indeed, anyone actually reads this..) but anyway.
