  1. $1700 on top 0_0 Geeze that's awful! better hope to never have to make a claim! $795 is pretty damn awesome though - pity i aint over that magic "25" barrier yet where insurance finally becomes fair :P Oh well... I went with the RACV coverage, so I can be fairly sure that it will be covered when i leave the dealer :) Guys, try www.bingle.com.au. My ZR6 was $571/yr (28, rating 1, $500 excess). Good service and very easy to use too. Its online only and if you claim you gotta put the claim in online yourself, but it appears no more painful than having to deal with insurance companies over the phone.
  2. Err Yeah thats what I was implying, Im getting the feeling the 2GE is somewhat tuned for economy given our same engine makes 230kw on the IS model.... From what I remember Aurion claimed around ~7.2sec mark Well youre not really comparing apples with apples with the Aurion and IS350 engine. IS350 has 2GR-FSE, the main difference being direct injection fuel delivery (+ conventional port fuel injection as well strangely enough). 232kW, 377Nm... and with the direct injection the 2GR-FSE is considerably more efficient than the 2GR. 2GR-FSE has made it into the worlds top 10 best engines 2 years running now.
  3. The cause of this problem is that some of the centre register (2 air outs let in the middle) vertical 'louvers' rattle within the little holes they fit in when the fan speed is up high. To check - press them with your finger and it will stop. If you direct the vents fully left or right the rattle will also generally stop. My ZR6 does it too. Basic cause is crap quality australian supplier parts.
  4. With all so many people having to wait up to months to get delivery for their Aurions, you would have thought demand is so high that Toyota won't need to release an "special" editions. I guess they've stopped making ATXs during this time. The waiting lists are for models like the ZR6 and Presara - the AT-X grade isnt selling as well as predicted it appears, and vice vera for the higher grades. Toyota were already offering free rego and so forth on the AT-X even before this special edition.
  5. One of the guys at work has a black Aurion - it looks dirty constantly - and Im pretty shure he just drives around the city. Fine surface scratching (which everyone is bound to get) also shows up more in Black.
  6. Its probably because the torque peak is at a quite high 4700rpm on the Aurion 2GR engine - I also find the same thing in mine. 2GR has VVTi variable in/exh timing - not lift. VVTi increases low/mid range torque - not top end much. The 2GR design is quite oversquare which make things a bit lackluster down low - however the 6speed auto disguises it quite well.
  7. If you’re going to convert a 2GR engine to LPG you should consider using an upper cylinder lubricant to help prevent valve seat wear - particularly because that engine isn’t designed for LPG. Such as... www.trubluoil.com.au/UCL.html (I have no affiliation) UCL improves fuel economy in normal petrol cars too - and helps prevent carbon build up in the top end. LPG is much kinder to cylinder walls, engine oil and the bottom end of an engine - so no worries there.
  8. For those who are willing to wait the ZR6 will mostly likely have real HIDs (like the Presara has now) in the first minor model change. There are a lot of customers asking for it.
  9. do aftermarket HIDs autolevel? it would be great if they do, but they don't. hmm...ok you guys are confusing everyone here. HID is the Bulb or the KIT, and there is no such thing as Auto-Leveling HID. There is such thing as "Auto-Level Projector headlights". Auto-level is built into the Projector (on most new cars). So another word, the Bulb doesn't move around, but the Projector does (not the headlight). all the aftermarket Projector Headlights don't have Auto-Leveling, you can built one yourself (just get a pair of auto-level projectors and replace the stock projectors) :) I think there is a lot of confusion going on here... Here is a clarification... Fristly those of you who think you can just replace your bulbs and get HID are wrong. What you are referring to is replacement of your existing headlight bulbs with Plasma Super White bulbs and they do not require any special tools or modifications to your vehicle. What these bulbs do is simulate the blue-white light of the High Intensity Discharge type lighting. The only issue you could run into here is that the wattage is often a lot higher than the original bulbs - so often your bulb life will be a lot shorter (as the wiring is usually set up to give a suitable voltage for a certain wattage bulb). Real HID requires a ballast and control for the special bulbs to give several thousand volts to ignite the electrodes and then 85 or 42V once the bulbs are stable. HID lamps also have different reflectors because the light charactistics are so different to traditional halogen lamps. There are aftermarket kits that do these things - keep in mind you are then playing with voltages and wiring operating well above the usual 12V. HID from the OEM this is usually all enclosed within the headlamp and safe. Additional to all this there is the levelling and horizontal movement and control I commented on previously. Long reply! - real HIDs are very complex system.
  10. yeh i meant auto levelling headlights. i wonder how much presara headlights are. dads mate works at toyota. maybe can he fix me up. because i want them to autolevel :) I didn't think toyota sells after-factoryfitted parts. I once asked if it is possible to order a ZR6 with HID and rain-sensing wipers, the dealer said no. how can they say no. lol what an idiots. im going to go and ask myself as well. if they say no, im going to buy the headlights and install it myself. They should have made it an option on the zr6. stupiddd. I agree with you - Toyota Australia should have made HIDs standard on the ZR6, even if the price wound up being $1000 or so more. When I ordered my ZR6 that was the only thing missing I really wanted too. By the way, if you were to install the Presara HID lamps on your ZR6 or whatever - they wont work like a Presara. You may get the HID light - but definitely no vertical (levelling) or hozontal (peering around corners) light shape movement. Most OEM HID systems take input from a level sensor under the rear floor for 'vertical' and the steering wheel angle sensor for horizontal. Of course the steering wheel angle sensor doubles as an input to the VSC system as well- so its in all Aurions already. An ECU then drives two lamp lens motors based on these 2 sensors. In the Presara the ECU is not in the lamps.
  11. Virtually the same car as the Aurion is sold in Taiwan, Thailand, Phillipines, Malaysia, China and so on - badged as a Camry. Im sure most of these asian destinations have plenty of ways to pimp your ride. Might help if know Chinese. Obviously the Aurion made in Australia is sold to the middle east as well.
  12. Its the torsion bars (there are 2 of them) that act as 'boot springs'. If youre a bit mechanically inclinced you can pop them out and bend them in a few places to get them sitting in their grooves. Otherwise take it back to the dealer and complain, bulky parts like those usually come from local suppliers (ie they are crap).
  13. Ive ordered my ZR6 in Sliver Ash, itll probably take at least 2 months to delivery. Cant wait to drive it - theres just no other car on the market at the moment with the features and qualities of the ZR6 at that price.
  14. I wouldnt buy a TRD Aurion at any price because its pretty much going to be bodged up with poorly designed add on/replace parts job done in some little workshop. I have my dobuts about this TRD mobs ability to design and control the product quality too. Toyota are taking a large risk letting them do this and keep the Toyota badge on the car. And for heavens sake Toyota stop trying to copy the Holden/Ford big car performance concept - that market segment is slowly dying now anyhow. Do what your parent company tells you to. :P
  15. To change to Memory seat/mirror system, which only Presra has, is next to impossible. The ECU for memory seat/mirror is in the drivers seat switch and information runs over a CAN bus. The whole layout of the CAN system and modules is different in a Presra so unless you were going to design a unique electrical system for yourself, you'd have to replace just about every wire harness in the car.
