  1. Gday all, another thing to look at in regards to traction and axle tramp is the engine mounts, due to to the east west configuration of the front wheel drive the natural twist of the engine changes the center line of the drive shafts, changing to neoprene engine mounts stops this twist, which helps getting the power down, trade offs are more vibration through the chassis, but it will be worth it as it’s a lot cheaper than an lsd
  2. Having stiffer springs and adjustable dampers definitely helps for traction, but it won’t overcome corrugated roads, my ride height is very similar to the Trd stock height with coiovers I still have adjustment to raise the car, or lower, I don’t have any clearance issues with the height I run, the suspension that was on the car when I brought it was Kyb struts with lowered king springs, this was a horrible combination, the lowered springs reduce your spring travel and u end up riding on the bump stops, it also had lots of clearance issues, driveways, speed humps and just driving along the road, would foul
  3. Cool nice work with the tvs 1900, coilovers definetly help with traction, a larger sidewall tyre also helps(18” wheel ), I went with the ssc intake, it’s my exhaust that’s throwing the vsc code, my y pipe is too big for the sensors ( more flow) I went with a single 3” varex muffler, I’ve got a scan tool to reset the ecu, I can’t find anyone to tune the ecu in Melbourne, I might have to road trip it to Sydney or go stand alone, $6500 for Motec or $4500 for haltech. What diameter pipes did you use for your y pipe 2.25 to 3” merge is the sizes I used. I’ll be keen to see how the standard ecu performs with the larger super charger, keep us posted
  4. gday Adam, any new progress, I changed my y pipe, exhaust and intake, I went with 2&1/4 to 3 inch merge 3 inch all the way to a 3 inch varrex, used ssc intake kit, awesome sound, vsc system check came on,
  5. gday yeah adjusting is a simple as turning a nob, the key is getting the right spring rate (suspension shop will help with this), with coilovers to adjust the height the bottom mount screws up or down for both front and rear , the spring travel is always the same amount regardless of how high or low you set the height, unlike lowered springs which lower your car through reducing your spring travel, you can also align your wheels properly with the top camber,
  6. Oh yeah what size pipes did you use for the y pipe, 2.25 inch or 2 inch primaries to a 2.5 or 3 inch collector,
  7. Not sure about the torque converter, was not my suggestion, can’t really see any gains of going high stall- the gearing is pretty good, I’m looking into the valve body, this can be removed/ fitted without removing the transmission, I’m waiting on a tuner to see if they can rework the ecu,
  8. Gday the suspension I run is bc coil overs, I have heavier spring rates in the front, can’t remember the number, still looking for the paper work. Wheels are Koya sfo1( basically an enkei rpf1) 7.9 kg for an 18/8, tyres are nito invos, this combo has made the difference for me on stock trd, changing the dampers and the heavier spring rates along with the higher side wall as well as reducing unsprung weight have helped with straight line acceleration of the line.
  9. Changeing wheel diameter also helped me, the bigger sidewall gives more grip on acceleration, not as pointy but better in the long run,
  10. before I did wheel tyre suspension change I was keen to put the lsd in, axle tramp was terrible didn’t mater how smooth the surface was, with heavier springs and adjustable dampening I can dial it out, and set it back to comfort for normal driving. With the right combo the ebd works well for simulating the lsd for straight line acceleration, always got to be cautious with cornering don’t give the front wheels to many tasks,
  11. SSC said that the transmission is more than capable of taking intake, exhaust, tvs1900 charger mods, I asked if the lotus engine was any different to the aurion engine and there is none, they modify the engines with forged pistons and rods for the race track
  12. Yeah that’s a disadvantage of the front wheel drive, you can’t just drop the axles and change the center, I spoke to simply sports cars it’s about 4hours labour if the transmission is removed from the car already. They have the same parts as monkey wrench raceing it’s just there website doesn’t list everything they have it needs to be updated, didn’t get a price on the lsd, so that’s very handy haveing an Aussie store with parts and tech support,
  13. To do the diff the transmission needs to come out and completely striped to fit the diff, tourque converter just sits in between the trans and engine, monkey wrench have em I think, or ya local trans shop should be able to sort it out
  14. What tyre ,wheels and suspension do you run. I was haveing traction issues so I changed to Koya sfo1 18/8 with 245/40/18 nito invos, and bc coilovers, this has made a big difference, the rim and tyre weight is 19. Something kg, not sure of the weight reduction from the suspension, also are you going to improve the valve body, clutches and cooler of the u660e transmission, maybe lsd
  15. Good idea with the e85, have also been looking into the tvs 1900 , also What headers did you use, has the ecu been corected
  16. Good work not seeing the video, do you have a print out of the dyno run, looking at doing same exhaust intake mods, can the ecu be reflashed
  17. Gday just brought the trd aurion, was looking for a family car, didn’t know the trd version existed, the joys of ignorance, the pick was down to aurion or Mitzi 380, found the trd aurion took it for a spin, very nice handling, good throttle response, and the odd thing that one me over was the front wheel drive, and floor mounted park brake, these two elements take out the old fun silly ways of driving. Not fond of the lack of noise so I took it to exhaust shop pulled rear mufflers off started it up, sounded pretty sweet 2500 up, put straight pipe muffler delete in, really nice note 3000 up, the most awerfull sound I’ve ever heard 3000 down ( almost sounds like a p plate falcon coming past with a crap exhaust, but you can’t escape it till u hit the sweet spot, if I was 20 I’d probably leave, gonna chuck a couple of mufflers in tomorrow, found I had to push more throttle to maintain 100, now after a bit of a yarn here’s the question- anyone had any success with toying with exhaust rear mufflers without sacrificing what was a good balance of torque and power in a tone deaf world,
