  1. Hi all, just had the check engine light come on recently. Code was P2241 02 sensor positive current control circuit low bank2 sensor 1. Did a bit of research and cleaned the sensor with brake fluid and put back in. Car ran fine for 2 months but warning light has just come back on. I cleared the error but this time didn’t clean the sensor. It ran okay for a week but has now come back on. Should I just simply replace the sensor or does it require an auto electrician / or Toyota to look into it further? Wondered if anyone had same experience and what they did to resolve. Many thanks Chris.
  2. @ZZT86 hi I live in western Sydney towards the blue mountains so don’t tend to get many extremely cold winter mornings. Average 4 to 7 with a few ranging from 0-4 degrees. The handbook with the car still recommends 15w40 even at minus 10 degrees. Obviously the Oil grade that’s been used at my last service seems a bit uncommon so I should perhaps go for a different grade at the next service.
  3. Thanks @campbeam I normally change oil on time basis as I don’t tend to reach the kilometers before the time period. I could get the guys at work to help me change the oil as a potential saving but was still thinking if the handbook recommends it then perhaps I can change grade at the next service as it seems to be an uncommon engine oil grade to use judging by the other responses and research.
  4. Thanks for all the reply’s/ advice. The handbook does still recommend 15w40 as an option even for temps as low as minus 10 degrees! my 2 services so far through ownership has been with my local Toyota and I called another Toyota where the car originated from and they service with 15w40 or 10w30. I guess now the decision for me is whether to just go to my local mechanic for a quick oil change or run with this until next April when I’m due my next service and change then. ive included a picture of the manuals oil recommendations
  5. Hi just wondering what’s the preferred oil grade for aurions. I’ve had my aurion for close to 2 years and at both services (with toyota) they’ve used 15w40. Previous service history showed a 5w30 and also Valvoline gtx protection (not sure what grade that is). Car has done 125000 kms. Will continuing with 15w40 be okay or should I come back down to a 5w30 or 10w30? Anyone with good or bad experience with 15w40? Thanks.
  6. Thanks for your reply’s. The water pump has already been replaced recently by the 2nd owner and the pre purchase inspection revs check showed no accidents or written off. There was definitely no smoke on start up both when I drove it and when the mechanic did a pre purchase inspection.
  7. Hi I’m new to the forum and looking to buy an Aurion as our 2nd car but main car for family outings and weekend trips. Ive recently viewed a very tidy 2007 Presara which only has 63000km on the clock. The first owners travelled until 48000km then traded. 2nd owner now and I would be 3rd if purchased. 2nd owner is selling as he says wife won’t drive it, it’s too big. The biggest concern for me with this car is that from 2012 to 2017 there’s no service records. The distance travelled was 24000km. I wasn’t so much worried about the distance but if it was 5 years between oil changes, how much damage has this done. It has since had 2 services from 48k to 62k. I’ve had it inspected by a mechanic and he says oil on dipstick looks fair as it’s just recently been serviced. There’s no smoke or rough engine sounds and the car drives well. My question is am I buying a time bomb that isn’t showing signs yet but soon will with that service gap or will it be fine as it’s already had a couple of oil changes and there’s no visible sludge signs looking into the top of where you fill the oil. I’ve just been recommended an oil flush and away I go if I choose to purchase. There might be a possibility that services were done and not recorded but as there is no evidence I have to assume a 5 year gap. It did get traded back to a Toyota dealer that apparently did its 100 point check and serviced it before selling it to the 2nd owner. Any thoughts or previous experience in this would be greatly appreciated. My local mechanic thinks it will be fine as there doesn’t seem to be any signs of loss of compression when removing the oil cap and feeling for blow by but my friends mechanic thinks I would be crazy to buy as there’s no telling on what internal damage might be done with that missing history. What do you out there think? thanks in advance, Chris.
