    GT4 st185

I'm looking into buying a celica st185 GT4 and i was wondering if there is anything that always goes wrong or anything i should look out for
  2. If you want some half decent sound quality forget rears and just have fronts then build pods so you can 6.5'' splits. like these
  3. Wouldn't the end of the wires be at the speakers
  4. Your post is a bit confusing. Am i right in saying you have the front speaker wire coming from the headunit connected to the rear speakers in answering your question is this ok. yes it is but i don't know why you would do it. As for locating the rear speaker wires if there were none in the car originally and there are now this means you or someone else has bought some. so you should just be able to follow the wires from the speakers to the other end. hope this helps but you probably need to clear up some of the details.
  5. Yes you are wrong in saying this. it all depends on the way the subs are wired up. assuming the both the subs are single voice coil and 4 ohm independce wiring them in parallel would make the amp see 2ohm and assuming your amp is stable at 2 ohm this should be fine. really need more specs to answer this question properly. As for the amp going in to protection mode the first thing i would do is check the ground. it should as big or bigger than the power wire also check the ground wire from the battery to the chassis. Personally i wouldn't run two differnt types of subs at the same time because it opens up a whole lot of problems and won't sound very good at all. i would sell one of them and get 2 that are the same

    Tuners

the headunit will come with the wiring harness that goes into the back of the headunit with bare wire at the other end so you will have to buy and adaptor but if your getting it professionally install i would assume that would be included in the bill. As for the cost of the install i wouldn't have a clue becasue i just do it my self, sorry i can't be of help.

usally all headunit are the same size. That headunit should come with a wiring harness made for the headunit. Then you can either buy an adaptor for your car or cut off the old plug that went into your old radio and just connect all the wires up.
  9. Pato, Yes i know pumping the accelerator won't do anything for an efi engine i just thought it can't hurt so why not give it a go. I did check the basics like the spark plugs. As far as i know this is a common problem with the car.
  10. thats all right i'm not that worried about the long waits because a not in a rush for anything and the car still runs
  11. Thanks for the replies guys i might try the hot glue idea becasue i'm not really to keen about drilling holes in things and i can't always use cable ties.
  12. I was just wondering how everyone mounts neons. i am currently using double sided tap and having limited success. Any better and more reliable methods would be great
  13. Wixy, thanks for the pics i just have a few questions about them. 1. how does the switch connect to the ingition switch. 2.What sort of relay connects the black wire and the blue wire. 3. does the black wire or the blue wire actually connect to the battery terminals or is the relay just mounted on the battery. by the way that is the starter motor that it connects to.
  14. I wouldn't even bother making RCA's just get an amp with speaker level input like Mopp said because isn't that what the speaker level input is made for.
  15. I don't know what the laws are like in NSW but up here in QLD we've just had all these new P platers laws put in. But i just don't see some of these laws are going to help lower deaths for example we now have a power restiction for p platers of 200kw. i really don't see how this is much of a restriction because you can still do 140 in you mums camry. But luckily i got my licence before the new laws so thay don't apply to me. Dam it must be really different down there because where i live every person aged 17 to 25 that has $3000 has a bloody commordore with an exhuast and mags. it seems that about 90% have commordores or falcons and 10% have everything else.
