  1. HOLDEN's $1 billion baby, the VE Commodore, is facing its third recall notice in less than 12 months, this time for a faulty fuel line.

If this had been known earlier, I doubt it would have won the bias wheels car of the year award.

So if you think you were better off with one of Holdens Billion dollar babies, think again!

THEY always win cause the WHEELS' JUDGES are BIAS! Put the holden emblem on the Aurion I can guaranteed you that it will win CAR OF THE YEAR LOL :yahoo::toast:

  2. you can try:

    1) heat up the area (using a heatgun or hair dryer)

    2) then use those air spray cleaner (basically its a can spray filled with air for cleaning dust, get them from Dicksmith)

    3) use the can spray upside down and spray it on the area (sprays out a really cold liquid)

    4) just wait and see the reaction

hopefully if everything goes to plan, the dents will pop back out. :)

there is a video on Youtube (I think) about this technique. so search it and tell us how you go ;)

  3. Just wondering if anyone has gone through the same problem. I have the 4 cylinder 2003 Camry. I have lost the spare key. I am stunned at the price of replacing it. I have searched the net high and low and am still confused as to the cheapest way of replacing it. It appears that you can get a blank transponder key off the net, have it cut by a locksmith and then follow a set of instructions to program this key as long as you have the main key [which I do].

I have not had any luck on Oz ebay with finding this blank key. Looking on the USA site I have come across many said keys but it appears that their Camry run ran from around 98 to 04. Our Camry here started the new look in 2002, so the USA model key will probably not suit my model?

I have been told that the transponder key I require should have either the chip Texas 4C or the 4D in it. Does any one know if this is true? If this is the case, there is a mob in Thialand advertising both these keys for around $12 each.

CAN ANYONE HELP me with a. what Texas model chip I need in the transponder. b. instructions on programing said spare key.

    Would appreciate any comments.

yeah sadly getting a new key from Toyota is expensive. As the GEN 4 have a built in immobilizer, the key has a built in chip. Not sure how to program the Chip inside the key, but I know how to program the keyless remote. You really don't have any other option other than Toyota. You might be able to get some imitations but just beware!

  4. t_fortuner_exhaust_tip-t.jpg <------ TIP ~$20...

Not sure how a tip could possibly change the note, stand to be corrected however

^that's right! that's a 3" tip! I used to have it and no sound different after putting it on :spiteful:

  5. My steering wheel is slightly slanted when traveling in a straight line. If you hold it level, the car slightly veers to the left, so you have to hold it on an angle. I just rang Toyota about it and they said that they generally fix that with a wheel alignment. The thing is, I recently got new tires and they (not Toyota) did an alignment on it but it didn't fix the problem. Any ideas?

My friend had the same problem with his crappy 98 Barina.

Sounds as if the shop focused on aligning the wheels only, without taking notice of the steering wheel direction.

Heh dont bother removeing and re-aligning the steering wheel...sounds easy but its not.

Personally I would have it re-aligned (for piece of mind).....

    Brad

    totally agree with Brad!

There's something suss about the shop you went to get the alignment! Go to midas, K-mart auto (NOT recommended there though), JAX, etc... when you ask for a wheel alignment they do the aligning of all wheel and the steering! Unless you tell them NOT to do it (which they would NOT recommend)

  6. I want to replace my head unit because it's broken (is now anyway). But I'm not sure how to take it out. I thought about D.I.Y. for taking the old one out, and then I'll get a new one. If I can't do it easy, I won't. I've attached a pic of what it looks like, I've ripped off the panel that's behind the detachable face, but not sure where to go from there.

pull the black plastic, first you need to take out the ashtray n cigarette lighter, start pulling from the bottom and work your way up. Do it slowly and DONT RUSH!

then there are 4 bolts holding the cd n box. unscrew them and you're done :D

  7. You have to maintain any car to keep it running well.

Should be in the service book in the car. Just follw that. And check the services have been done.

Keep a spare $1000 and some for insurance.

Also check how long the Rego has got to go another $500 odd a year

Get quotes form differnet places on what you want done, ask your local area for a good mechanic.

Are you getting a 4cyl or a 6 cyl. If budget is a concern check the prices of insurance and rego in your state as 6cyl may cost more to put on the road (+ 10-35% ish more in fuel depending on how you drive and driving conditions)

I am eyeing a 4 cylinder, currently I have a 350,000 km falcon and its giving us a lot of maintenance problem and we had spent about $2k-$3k on maintenance alone. I was hoping to get a newer car so that we don't have to spend so much in maintenance.

    4cyc?? <_<

why don't you get a V6 Camry would be much nicer and gets up the hills with ease. well anyway back to the topic.....make sure you check the car carefully before making a purchase, especially check the engine oil (look inside, bring a torch, if its clear and you can see the bottom then the car has been maintained properly. If you can see oil stick to the walls then stay away).

Also I would also clean the Throttle body, filter and the butterfly (if you do get the V6 :toast: ).

  8. Hi all,

    pioneeravicd3se2.jpg

I've seen the Pioneer AVIC-D3 all over USA. But why can't I find them on eBay.com.au nor Pioneer.com.au <_< Also my other question, why is it that Pioneer Australia only have the AVIC-DH3 (costs $3,400aud) while on the other hand, the AVIC-D3 (shown on the pic) is only Rrp $1,000usd from Pioneer USA:rolleyes: (i've seen $700usd on ebay.com) **I know if i get them from USA they might not work here <_<:angry: (i've emailed Pioneer Australia, so hopefully they can shine a light!) :spiteful:

  9. ^with those bluetooth GPS receiver, if you trying to use them in or near high rise buildings, it's very hard to connect to the satellites! (happened to me, switched the GPS receiver off, then turning it on after 30mins later, couldn't connect...but once we were outside CBD we were connected.

but the only major difference between a mobile phone GPS n a Portable GPS System, the Portable GPS System has better/stronger satellites receiver. What i mean by this is that, if you're inside your house, with the bluetooth GPS receiver you won't be able to connect, while the Portable GPS might give you 1-2 satellites and yet it still can calculate your route.
