  1. So now that your Aurion is gone - whats your next car?

I bought a Honda Accord Euro Luxury with Sat Navigation. There isn't a single rattle in this car at all and there is no guess how well this one is put together not to mention the quality materials in it.

But Kudo's to Toyota Australia for finally ending my 10month nightmare. Details on exactley what transpired at the end are confidential but lets just say i am a happy man, finally.

  2. Mine hasnt found a signal yet, i might have to reposition the sensor

Put it in top of the inside of the dash, might need to move it further forward

it reads "NO GPS" in the bottom right of the screen when in navigation mode,

Is there any settings i may need to adjust?

A good place for the antenna is inside the dash behind the clock on top of one of the A/C vents. The no GPS error sounds like the unit isn't set up correctly. Try to enter the GPS setup within the program and make sure that COM port 2 is selected.

Also a baud rate of 4800.

  3. You need to add the Moonroof to the poll as mine rattles like crazy

Moonroof added. I am surprised with the amount of owners with rattling problems in their cars. Toyota have really let down their customers in this department. Gone are the days of legendary Toyota build quality!

  4. I went to another Ford dealership today and gees, the paint on the new Falcons is terrible. I was shocked how dull they really are. I also went and looked at VE Commodore's and like the SS but i would be worried about the quality of these cars too.

The new Accord and Accord Euro are very high quality but think they look like ladies cars.

It's bloody hard. At the moment i am caught between a rock and a hard place.

  5. Guys,

Toyota contacted me today offering to replace my car (finally) or they will repay the purchase price to me but upon more googling i am finding more and more complaints on the typical dash pad rattle (creaking) and would like to get an idea on how far spread out this problem is.

I'd like to also find out if the 2008 built Aurion's still have rattles in the Dash Pads and Centre Consoles.

    Your comments much appreciated.

  6. The build quality of the Aurion is nothing special at all. I would go as far to say that it's typically Australian built and no more better then a Commodore or Falcon. That said the only part of an Aurion i praise is the drivetrain.

Ford though has turned a new leaf and pressing the panels now in one piece so all the panels should line up perfectley. There has been a huge boost in quality control at the Broadmeadows plant also, something Toyota know nothing about.

Whilst i may be biased due to having so many problems with my Aurion i don't think there is any competition between the TRD and G6E with the G6ET being a much better car all round. It has buckets of torque, better suspension, better handling, better steering, better build quality and has the tick of approval from pretty well all of the motoring magazines.

Pumping 240Kw from a FWD car is just stupidity at it's best. It's a G6ET for me without any hesitation. In fact i am heading to a dealer to look again at the new Ford range this afternoon.

  7. Has anyone got the stock 4 speakers from the Aurion they want to sell me? The 4 i had ended up in the bin after being mutilated...

I am putting the car back to stock in preperation to get rid of the heap of unfixable crap. And no, the next car (or ever for that matter) will be another piece of s-h-i-t Toyota.

  8. Hi Guys: does anyone know how to run TomTom in that unit? i do have a TomTom satnav with current Oz maps on its SD card and i was wondering how to use that map in that unit, before i decide to buy one soon :)

    any help would be appreciated.

    cheers

    Argie

Tom Tom can't be run on these units as it requires Windows CE 5.0. The head unit runs Windows CE 4.2 i am led to beleive. That said i think IGO8 looks better then Tom Tom and runs on the head units but each to their own.

  9. There are no wires to swap! The bus works by varying resistance on each function. For example you press the Vol+ button, this puts 2k2 on the bus, you press Vol- and this puts 1.8k on the bus (examples only). The only way to fix this (as writeen above in an earlier post) is to locate and switch the SMD resistors on the Seek+ and Seek- buttons.

Of course this is not going to be practical for most so i would trust Auspack to come up with a solution from the chinese manufacturer. It should operate the same way as the OEM unit did irrespective of any logic.

Edit - The speedo is interfaced with the stereo for the ASM function to operate in the OEM head unit.
