  1. Anyone know where to purchase one of these Sat Nav aftermarket units (apart from eBay)?

no idea but if i get the factory sat nav for the aurion zr6 im going to take it to a place to see if they can do something to it to play dvds. lol if they say for 200-250 well do it. im willing to give them that much. would be awesome to watch music clips when driving or watching dvds on road trips.

goto www.burgdesign.com.au they sell them there. IMO these are rubbish, most likely using a older gen LCD screen (viewable from dead on only), and most likely cannot be updated. I would rather spend around 2k and get a aftermarket head unit and get a car interior design business to blend it into the console a bit more.

In regards to factory, Remember your will probably void your warranty on that unit when tampering with it. Also there is some legality around driving and watching videos. Most aftermarket units like the Kenwood I have, your *off the shelf install* only allows you to watch the videos while the *parking break is engaged*, theres ways around it but if possibly a cop passes next to you and sees it on he may book you.

Are you saying those aftermarket units from burgdesign.com.au are ****house?

  2. Whilst driving the centre console sqeaks and rattles slightly. Most of the noise seems to be coming from the plastic underneath the gear lever. It appears to have two layers of plastic and the slight rub of my leg on the console makes noises. Some little bumps also cause it to make noise. Anyone else experience this. It is very annoying. My 1994 supra doesnt even do this. The center console seems very cheaply made, scratches easily too.

I was thinking of pulling it apart and using grease. Any suggestions, does the new car warranty cover these things. We bought the car second hand from a Toyota Dealer with 20k kms.

Mine does it too. See my sig.

  3. Need some help. I purchased a pair of Boston Acoustic 6x9's S953 for the front of the car, however after pulling the panels off I find that its going to be a very tight fit even with a baffle. The speakers midrange and tweeter stick out of the woofer making the overall depth about 11cms. The distance from the glass to the speaker cover on the door panel is only about 5mm bigger, if that.

Im thinking of installing these speakers in the rear, and purchasing some MB Quart entry level 6x9's for the front as they are about 9cm overall from bottom of magnet to top of speaker.

My question is, do you guys think the boston's would fit in the rear? Is the depth bigger in the back? I know you mentioned the springs in the back. If distance between the spring and the parcel shelf speaker cover is even 1cm bigger than the front, i should be able to fit them in.

    thanks.

I think you will be pushing it to fit the Boston's in. You will need to make pods but at that depth the speaker will probably lean on the parcel shelf and may prevent it being reinstalled properly. The MB Quartz have huge magnets on them and this is why i didn't opt for these. Why not stick some 6.5" Splits up front (replace the factory tweeter) and something slimmer at the rear. There isn't a lot of room in the back.

  4. The Auto Level setting finally came back. I guess this happens after you put it in drive or something.

I haven't disconnected the front tweets yet as i want the front soundstage and for that they need to be up high. What i did do is disconnect the middle driver (midrange?) in the front Eclipses as these were making the most amount of annoying frequencies. I might swap the dash tweeters for silk dome units or attenuate them a little.

I do need to fade out the rears too as they are way too bright. It's a shame really as i though those Eclipse speakers were the bee's knees.

  5. We have made high quality pods and sealed them real well. Today i put some stinger roadkill on the front doors and toned down the front speakers and they are way too bright (Eclipse 4 ways). I also installed the rears (Ecplise 4ways) today and overall it does sound better but i think am amp would be a better option to work with this upgrade.

Have you noticed the Auto Level setting missing from your menu now after changing all the speakers?

  6. Hey DKzr6,

I have today installed the Eclipse 4 ways in the front (rears on the weekend) and i am not impressed at all with the sound. We build custom pods and baffles and they turned out excellent (pics to follow) however i noticed there is a huge lack of bass response up front now.

Did you end up putting sound deadening to your doors to help seal and reduce noise?

    Greg

  7. Can't understand why Blue can't get his fixed under warranty like me?? Great car even though have had to put up with several warrranty fixes.

Funny you say that.. My car goes back again for the 13th time (and the 3rd dealer) to get all these dash and console problems sorted. They have it booked in from Tuesday morning to Friday night. Strangley i found out that the car i have was detailed and then transferred to Jarvis from the dealer i am taking it to on Tuesday. It seems it was these guys who did not pre-deliver the car properly when it apparantly was their responsibility and Jarvis did not seem to care either (typical Adelaide car dealers).

I will let you know on Friday what happens but i'm not holding my breath. If it's not fixed i will be getting rid of it - period. Toyota and Jarvis can shove it up their *****.

Well i got it back and dash had been removed for the 2nd time (or has it been 3 times?). The rattles around the dash seem better but are still there. I am starting to wonder if there is a problem with the front window seal. I'm on a hatrick... First person to have 20 warranty claims within 1yr wins 100 bucks! I reckon the money will remain in my pocket.

  9. Also my local dealership has got a fix for dash rattles. They tell me that the clips on the firewall were too small and did not have any sound dampeneing. They have pulled out one dash already with a perfect result. They use bigger clips and something to stop squeaks. My built date is Oct 2007.

Interesting and noted. Will have to investigate further.

  10. but surely you must have been impressed with the test drive you (I'm hoping you would have done one) undertook in another Aurion before purchasing your one.

I did indeed and it was fault free

My XBOX 360 has $hat itself on 2 occasions, but i still think they are excellent value, like you, was one of the unlucky ones. Good luck with getting your car sorted.

We are talking maybe $500.00 compared to $40,000, it's not comparing apples with apples.

As i have said previously, if Toyota Australia or Jarvis Toyota did the right thing and exchanged the car when rightfully requested i wouldnt be here bagging out the halfwits.

  11. You NEVER accept an item your not happy with. You simply tell them you want it fixed to a high standard.

You are simply a tool. WTF do you think i did? According to your wisdom you buy a BRAND NEW car, look at it or don't even drive it, look into the crystal ball to see if it has rattles, squeaks and mechanical problems and reject it there and then. I want me one of those crystal balls you have please.

As i and others have said, the car has been returned some 13 times now and each time i have told them to fix it to "perfection" but the dealers cannot seem to be able to fix it. Next you say, throw the keys down in front of them.... Nice one, they already have my money and my car, needless to say i will need to walk home.

Perhaps next time i buy a car i will come over to you and bring you with me so you can share some of your wisdom and i'll borrow your crystal ball.

  12. Mate we get the point, go away and tell someone who cares.

If you think Toyota is bad...you have alot to learn.

You are a smart****. If you don't like what i'm posting simply ***** elsewhere. No-one is forcing you to read them so unless you have something constructive to post (i doubt your smart enough) then ***** and annoy someone else with your small mindset.

  13. Why did you buy such a poorly built car then?

It's your fault to drive off in a car your not happy with! You check a car on pickup, and if its not up to your standards, you simply give them the keys back before even puting them back in the ignition.

You must be blind or outright stupid. Read all my posts here and my blog. I drove out the driveway and took it straight back and Jarvis refused to accept the car is a lemon! I am still trying to get the car replaced after 3 months.

Next time please read with your eyes, not your **** ring.

  14. The Aurion's tiptronic transmission is great in Auto but crap in Sports Mode. Mine always defaults to 4th gear and it even changes gears like an auto up to 4th. In the Mitsubishi, it takes off from either 1st or 2nd but stays in that gear until you move it (as it should). Why on earth did the deadbeat engineers are (Toy)ota design the transmission so it still acts as an auto even in Sports mode?

The Aurion is a nice looking car but it's engineering and build qulaity is just pure crap. Spend your money on something else, you will be glad you did.

In terms of the salesman, he is dodgy like most of the others. The dealers have targets to meet as set by Toyota and will bullcrap to the heavens to make a sale by the end of each month. If you really must buy one do it at the beggining of the next month, they don't deserve any bonus's for meeting (Toy)ota's sales targets.

  15. however, my car's microphone has stopped working!! =(

I don't know if it has somehow disconnected itself or something, but i was working yesterday, now all of a sudden when i make phone calls... NOTHING

so not sure what has happened, but that's my little problem =(

Good old Toyota quality cars huh? Perhaps it explains why Toy(ota) only provide 3yrs warranty with their **** products. Get with the times!

  16. Nothing positive as yet im afraid. I have now officially lodged a formal complaint about Jarvis Toyota and Toyota Australia and i am also seeking legal advice in terms of sueing the dealer and the sales representative for deceptful conduct for false advertisement of the car purchased from them just 2 days prior to the end of the month. They even told me they needed the sale to meet the monthly target so no doubt it has all been lies.

Dont you worry Mr Jarvis (Toy)ota, i put you on notice that i will never stop until i rightfully receive what is mine. I will continue to tell my story until the whole of Adelaide knows of your pathetic attitude and the lies you forward to your customers to make a sale. You think i might back away, wrong, this all gives me more ambition to keep on going and soon a little bit of advertising will soon be seen outside your Clovelly Park branch on public land seen to thousands of motorists who pass by on Adelaide's busiest road.
