  1. Hi guys...just want to ask.. I've driven manuals all my life including Semis (Volvo 16 gear F7 ) but I'm having a prick of a time getting to drive my new ascent manual smoothly and consistantly. The clutch and throttle are so light and the engine is so quiet, my size 10 steelcaps dont help either Is it just me ? or are there any tips that'll help The dealer said lots have said the same on the new model 93kw with the electronic throttle...nothing they can do.
  2. Watch out for them lobbing in Wynns additives to the fresh oil, and "fuel conditioner" too....they ARE NOT Toyota products and may very well be a warranty issue if you have an engine failure, as Toyota very definately say they should never be used on a warrantied engine. You dont get a say in it just look on your next Service invoice...Cannon Toyota and Harris Freer Toyota have both done this to me...
  3. Thanks for all the input fellas..much appreciated. The cost is $265...seems good considering it's for premium tint when others like tint-a-car are quoting the same for their el-cheapo basic tint. You also get to drive their lairy getz's as a loan car if you need it. They have an interesting forum on their site www.tintprofessor.com.au/forum/ and they seem pretty honest with their responses on the form. Might post some pics when it's done.
  4. Hi guys...need a few opinions here thanks. Getting the black 'rolla tinted next week at the Tint Professor in nunawading (vic)...they're telling me not to get the standard black (as on their Getz's) but 'cos it's black, they always go for a more silver tint that looks (to them) better on black.. So which do you agree with them, and are they good guys to deal with...?? Cheers fellas..
  5. Thanks everyone...all your offers are much appreciated...managed to get a set from Toyspares in Bayswater for 20 bucks so all cool now Cheers John.
  6. Any clues where I can source these other than Toyota spare parts depts... Any clues muchly appreciated fellas.... RME1 tks !! love the wheels mate!
  7. Exec,,I'm sure ura top bloke 'n'all but pls dont patronise me. iF ANY dude here asks a polite question, with respect to all, he deserves a helpful response. An oil starved seize on a 96 Camry cost my mate $7000.00 for an engine rebuild at Frankston Toyota five years ago...how much would a similar rebuild cost on an IZZ-Fe or Sportivo motor cost today ??? I'm seriously suggesting $10,000 plus.. We need to look after everyone here, we're all anonymous mates, at all levels of knowlege and competence if we do any other we'll scare good folk away from this MB an just be Coolsie dudes.... Respect 'an no offence Exec If u know the the answers, let us know too we just ask politely ...Easy.
  8. Hey Stoopid Head.... 1) is the sump plug easy to loosen up, and do you always replace the crush washer ??? 2) What do you use to remove the oil filter...apparently it's a bugger to get to, and the only way is to work underneath and use one of those clawgrip type removers with an extension socket...is this right ?? 3)How long do you let it drain for ?? and do you use synthetic ?? Cheers mate..
  9. The Levin has a sunroof available on the options list, from memory at about $1600.00. Does anyone know if it's fitted on the line in Japan ? or fitted by Toyota here in Oz ??? Also any thoughts about the structural integrity being affected with the fitting of a non Toyota roof ??
  10. That really is outfrigginrageous !!!!! Come on..name the dealer so we wont go there either ! 15 minutes of time and two flicks of a wrist by a junior apprentice on $11.00 ph = $50.00...that's $200.00 per hour !! Name the dealer....
  11. So does anyone know if the Corolla speedo is electronic or cable driven. I was just wondering how speedo accuracy is maintained when changing wheel size (say from 16 to 17)? I know on some electronic ones you can reprogram the module, but if it's cable I dont know how you'd be able to adjust it. A copper friend of mine said that an inaccurate speedo makes the car unroadworthy, and technically your insurance will not apply if you dont maintain the car in a roadworthy condition. If you have a prang most insurance companies will look hard for reasons not to honour the claim and this could be a good one. Any thoughts folks..??
  12. Can I ask...do they only work on high beam, or is there a separate switch for them ???
  13. Some dudes have issues with them, specially sharmz (respect) mainly due to what they sayon the board here is "less than open trading" with them, I just think someone there has their heart in the right place getting Project Corolla past the MD, financed, and up and running, at least that particular person might deserve a little of our respect.even if not Penrith Toyota as a whole.??
  14. Has everyone seen Project Corolla..?? www.penrithtoyota.com.au/index2.htm
  15. Thanks for the info guys. It's all the friggin road noise thats getting to me, tyre roar, transmission rumble and whine, it's as if they forgot to put enough sound deadening in on the production line, just sounds cheap and tinny. I didn't realise the dealer doesnt get paid by Toyota if he cant actually find a faulty part, and I also see that noise issues are not covered by warranty, it says so in the owners handbook, so it looks like an aftermarket solution, I'll try Strathies tomorrow, just want to get a bit of refinement into it. Some dude was writing in last weeks Fridays Herald-sun motoring liftout, complaining about the same thing, and the HS response was that it was due to Toyotas poor soundproofing and the general body design of the new Corollas, changing tyres etc wont help. Cheers again guys...
  16. Thanx Peekay, wos thinking more of the Service side, after you'd bought the motor What are Josh Sady like for honest servicing, do they take a real interest in you ??
  17. Cheers guys....so it's (1) Sell the car..or (2) Turn off the stereo.... No, really..you've been a BIG help, always a pleasure to talk to experts like yourselves.
  18. Can anyone recommend a MelbourneToyota Dealer who is Genuinely interested in fixing faults and giving good service..?? I've used two big ones, but they seem far too busy to be interested and just want you to pay the service bill, and nick off. Lets hear yr good and bad experiences.....
  19. I love my new 'Rolla, but it's WAY too noisy inside...anyone done any work on sound deadening kits for them ?? Someone said there's a place in Dandy specialising in deadening materials and kits...any clues who they might be ..?? Cheers.
