  1. Thanx heaps fellas..and dont they look AWESOME too..!! gonna do it...but why couldn't tight**** Toyota fit them as standard..?? because they are meant to be reflectors not lights... AR...thanks for your input, but as my personal friend, Mr H. Simpson would say....DOH..!!!! obviously they are MEANT to be reflectors, but same as on a bicycle, only I bought a 'rolla not a bike...Toyota can afford to go the extra yard..go figure..
  2. Thanx heaps fellas..and dont they look AWESOME too..!! gonna do it...but why couldn't tight**** Toyota fit them as standard..??
  3. As much as I really like my '10 conquest, I REALLY hate the dumb red reflectors in the new back bar. Has anyone converted these to actual, ( but LEGAL..!! ) red back lights....??
  4. Yes they do. Thanks for that.... just gives me another option..
  5. Just making sure.... this isn't for your Corolla right? Because the ZRE has a 5x114.3 stud pattern compared to the ZZE's stud pattern of 4x100. Thanks for that DJKOR... would you happen to know if the 5 stud 16" alloy rims from a current Camry would fit a ZRE..?? thought they might perhaps be the same stud size and offset..?? Cheers mate..!
  6. Awww ...mate ..so much appreciated,..sincerely, thanks very much. will check b4 tho as advised tks.
  7. Hi there..was wondering if anyone would have the part number for a rear wheel bearing for a 2003 Echo..?? or perhaps you could just point me in the right direction, Thanks in advance...
  8. Just had a quote this afternoon, from Roy at AutoExcess (Melbourne) for $290 to supply and fit an XForce twin loop to my 06 IZZ-FE manual. Dunno...seems reasonable.?? On another point, how many of you guys have actually declared your exhaust mod to your insurance company, and what exactly was their response..(eg increased premium, etc etc ..?) I'm with AAMI.
  9. Agreed DJCOR...you are right, a light spray of a silicone based lubricant, on the belt whilst the engine is running, will do the trick, but engine oil will soften and quickly shorten the life of the belt
  10. Did my apprenticeship with Renault...so I know a little about this. Firstly, make sure you are using the very best quality oil you can, and also make sure the grade (viscosity) is exactly correct, in winter it is crucial that the oil gets up to the vvti ( or vvtli) valve gear in the head as quickly as possible so the thinner the oil (as recommended) the better, such as synthetic 5w30 . Idle for no longer than one minute, otherwise oil dilution (with rich mixture petrol) may occur , and then drive gently ( under 3000 revs ) until normal temperature is acheived. I've forgotten the exact figures now but I remember that gentle driving warms the engine up around five times quicker than fast idling alone. Hope this helps...
  11. My 06 "rolla has it's TRD exactly where you want to put it...run a thin line of clear silicone slightly above and below the contact point, and also a thicker line where the actual contact point will be . Remove the double sided tape, and carefully position the badge. There is just enough room to slide your finger behind the badge to smooth out the silicone, dont drive and leave it overnight to toughen off....works a treat !
  12. top professional oil advice site, most of your answers are here... http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html
  13. On my '06 'rolla I, due to the used magnatec and wasn't that happy with it...the engine was noisy on cold start up, (bad) and on other forums they reckon that magnatec can leave engine deposits, also I found that the oil becomes very dirty ( black) in a short time. I changed to Castrol Edge synthetic 5w-30, and this has fixed all the magnatec issues I had, also the engine idles a little faster, and revs better but best of all the engine rattle on cold starts has now gone ( I've been told due to much better quality thinner oil getting around the engine much quicker ) . It is more expensive than magnatec but on special (at Supercheap) it is around $48 for 5 litres...hope this helps.
  14. Yep..my 06 'Rolla manual has done this since 5000k (now 30k) ..have now given up trying to find a cure, although I remember a year or two back someone on the UK site said the euro 4 compliant rollas had a mapping issue that caused rough idling. Mine is fine for the first 10-15 seconds but then settles down to a rough tickover. Heaps of rollas are doing this, including the latest ones, just watch the tailpipes of others at the lights and you'll see many vibrating and shaking.
  15. ...I've decided to change my Castrol Edge 5w-30 at 3 month intervals, so if anyone knows, just need a bit of advice.. 1. is a copper sump plug washer better than the normal fibre one one ?? and if so, how many times is it safe to re-use it..?? 2.What is the correct sump plug washer size to use for a stock 1zzfe sump plug, been told it's 12mm..is this correct ?? thanx guys..
  16. Cheers guys...!!! much appreciated.
  17. How do the two black fasteners at the top back on the cover come undone ?? twist and pull, unscrew or what !!! thanks fellas.....
  18. Thanx to everyone ( esp Rollamods) did it myself and was easy as...!!! Nunawading Toyota matched Ozeparts price $270 ( grrrr..!!) and I and a mate managed to do the whole job in just over 30 minutes, The whole front bar is held on by 10m screws along the bottom (about 8), and clips (about 4) and screws at the top (2), comes off in less than 10 minutes, fitting the light assembly 10 minutes, and back on in 10 to 15 or so.
  19. Hi guys..the 'rolla (06 ascent manual) is still shivvering and shaking when the tickover settles, I asked Lane Toyota to have a look at it when they did the service, with the following result......." the technician says if theres no engine warning light on, there's no problem with your car " My question is ... if there's something like a faulty sensor, or something similar that would cause a rough tickover, would that cause the engine warning light to come on...?? Any help'll be appreciated...anyone else got this tickover problem ??
  20. Hi Guys..need your advice please, got the drivers side h/lamp smashed yesterday, so here's a few questions. 1) Toyota want $297 bux for a new unit, are there any cheaper alternatives ?? 2) Is the front bumber cover assembly easy to remove, and how ? and any other advice or tips from anyone who'se been there and done that would be much appreciated..thanx in advance fellas
  21. Looks like the honeymoons over....spoke with David at Cannon, mentioned toyota ownersclub special prices for servicing, he checked with vince, and then quoted me $190 bux for a standard 20000k service on my 'rolla...same as every other dealers quoting...so i booked at lanes ..same price and closer... real shame that
  22. Yeah guys add me to the list....06 ascent manual, running BP ultimate, shaking and shivering on tickover.. But please be very careful with Toyota dealers diagnosing this, a friend with an identical problem on a new car was told it was "probably" dirty fuel and was quoted $1500 to strip and clean out the entire fuel system...what a rip off... too many service advisors with their eyes on the team bonuses the dealers pay them !!
  23. Hi guys..just need some advice. Just got a set of locking wheel nuts for the rolla from Supercheap...the brand is "Wheel Doctor". I'm just a bit concerned that they look a bit flimsy(the centre lug is really small), and I wont put them on if anyone else has had a bad experience with them.... Any advice appreciated..
  24. Got a new 06 Ascent 2400kms...(but manual,) have to say the tyre roar (whine) has got much worse since new...sure it's not tyres ???
  25. Cheers everyone...I dont feel as stoopid now you've shared your similar experiences.. Dean in service at Chadstone Toyota said they can fit an aftermarket spring to firm up the throttle... But I'll just learn to live with it...
