  1. Blah just say your car is in the panel beaters with a crack on the bumper and you need to replace it, I dont think they want to see evidence etc that you have a TRD lol.

Lol yeah 800 a rim sounds like the normal price the 17's that come with the zr6, anything genuince is like at least 2x more than if you could get the same aftermarket, highway robbery indeed.

Rolla, can you get the front bar for the TRD cheaper??

  2. well if you change in semi mode while you accelerate and get that lagged, then definately a worst 0-100.

Havent really tested but how far does it go when you floor it on DRIVE?

If its anywhere as good as a DSG then perhaps DRIVE will get you a better result...

As for milage, depends on what situation, e.g. if coasting (sitting on neutral) is involved then perhaps Drive will get you more as sitting on seq will lock onto the engine and use engine braking everytime you take off your foot of the accelerator

  3. probably 20's, If i decide to lower it as well i might just get 18's

but driving the car will be such a freaking hassle if i lower it, so maybe not

If you get 20's, apparently the whee+tyre diameter will be slightly bigger, so the car sits higher and wouldnt effect as much in terms of ground clearance... but you need to be weary of the wheel arch itself though....

  4. I don't even want to go to Avalon comparing it to the Aurion, lol.... Unless we are talking about the US Aurion I mean Avalon... :

Don't be fooled I reckon theres potential in this 2GE engine we have... Look at the IS350, same engine and N/A but managed to produce 230Kw and almost 400nm, and does 0-100km/h at a 'claimed' 5.3sec, that a niiiiceeee kick to the teeth to the Nissan VQ350 on the 350z which has 'claimed' same power but only 350nm torque and half a second slower :P.

Oh common, there's more than potential in these things, it'll crap all over those other little jap toy cars that kids are 'hooning' around in these days.

Holden and Ford equivalents won't even be able to eat our dust as we'll so darn far ahead!

consequently does anyone know the actually 0-100km time for the Aurion? let me know

Err Yeah thats what I was implying, Im getting the feeling the 2GE is somewhat tuned for economy given our same engine makes 230kw on the IS model.... :whistling:

From what I remember Aurion claimed around ~7.2sec mark

  5. Yes they are covered by warranty, all the problems Blue has had was from what came standard with the car, I dont think he modded his car in anyway to cause those issues. Its the fact that Toyota and the dealer don't really have that customer care is the real issue here, if they did they would have swapped him a nice brand new SX6 long time ago due to the car is problem filled ala Lemon.

Well if most of your options are aftermarket going outside the dealership/toyota realm then that wont be covered under warranty but if these aftermarket is agreed with the dealer somewhat, they should put a warranty on these parts as well, im assuming you got the blacksat nav unit rather than the facia built spec one?

Don't stress, your most likely going to get a good car, its just unfortunate someone out there has to get a bad one out of the batch etc...

Yeah, it's the blacksat nav rather than the facia one...

has anyone seen it done? coz I ordered it without really taking too much consideration into how it would look, I'm a little worried that it'll look terrible now, not that i'm overly concerned, it's not like i'm buying the ZR6 or prodigy/presara... but still wouldn't mind knowing what i'm getting rather than getting a surprise.

All my options although custom are being done through the dealer, so yeah will be covered by warranty.

Back to blue, I don't understand why Toyota isn't just picking up the faults under warranty and fixing them or replacing the car?

Ive seen that satnav on a zr6 ive seen at a dealership, they use a replacement DoubleDin Facia put a typical DoubleDin Screen unit into it like you would do if u were to put an aftermarket system in anyway.

It does look out of place because of the silver/black contrast and the more proper option cost a ridiculous amount of money, but I tell you what, Im going in a similar route as yourself, but I will be overlaying the facia to a different colour etc, perhaps a very dark carbon fiber look or at least anything that attempts to blend the black to the interior colour.

Check out www.dashdesign.com.au, im pretty sure they'll be others around your area... check out the gallery, theyve done a console overlaying on a current spec camry...

  6. Well, I've just been driving an Avalon for the last 3 years,

So the same applies I guess

I like to think of the Aurion as an "Avalon Evolved"

gosh... that didn't sound so tacky in my head...

I don't even want to go to Avalon comparing it to the Aurion, lol.... Unless we are talking about the US Aurion I mean Avalon... :

  7. Can someone explain to me, in case i missed it why all these things that blue is suffering with his car isn't covered by warranty??

Gees... My SX6 comes in this week and you guys are freaking me out now!!

Alot of my options in it aren't factory or dealer standard, the leather is custom, and the sat/nav is coming from another make, either the camry or corolla sportivo so I really wanted the aux jack for my ipod... is this going to increase the chances that my dash is going to rattle?

does anyone else have this setup for their dash?

eek, i'm officially freaked, i havn't been able to sleep the last few days coz i've been looking forward to my car!

Now i can't sleep coz i'm worried about it!

  8. With regards with the exhaust system as i work in the industrie i have changed my sx6 with 2 new megaflow mufflers on the back end has a nice deep note but not droning at all. You will not find a big difference with the performance with changing the cats or the size of the pipe work. it should cost about $500.00 including tips and the mufflers are s/s 409 with a 5 year warranty. You can get it done at Kirrawee Exhaust or Carline Mt Druitt and Windsor Exhaust. I gain about 5-7 Kw by changing the exhaust. I had my car Dynoed and its has 149.9 Kw at the wheels the person that did it said thats pritty dame good for a stock aurion. The only other thing i have changed is the air filter i bought a TRD one from Castle hill toyota it was cheaper the a K&n filter from the USA.

So your saying stock is 149.9 as in without the exhaust? what are the before and after figures on the run and was this running a press or mandrel bent exhaust, for that price i doubt s/s all the way, I doubt the airfilter would have done anything as its been said that the Aurions intake is pretty free flowing already...

For 1k-2k for marginal gains i dont think its worth it unless you are going to go deeper into mods.. especially if all your after is a more aggressive engine note... I would just opt for mufflers...

You might also end up sacrificing bottom end for the top end peak power KW (Basically just redistributing the curve)..., just looking at it by itself performance wise its all rice like the many civics, lancers i see on the street. Don't get caught into the KW trap. Im pretty sure Toyota looked into the exhaust and believe that this is a balanced setup..

As said, I would like to see a before and after Dyno chart on an exhaust to paint a more real picture

Oh yeah back to posts earlier, a 200sx is genuinly known to have a restrictive system, the SR20 is a potent engine as well as the rexxy's EJ so their 20kw can be credible to an extent but don't take it as every other car can achieve a similar mark or even come close to it.

  9. Update -

I received yet another email again from Toyota again dodging my request. I have asked many times to change my car over but all they want to do is keep trying to fix it.

So i called the Office of Consumer Affairs again this morning and told them i have had enough. I explained to the operator what has been happening and he could not beleive what he was hearing. Furthermore he was shocked to hear what Jarvis Toyota was offering in the way of a trade-in so i could replace the car with the exact make/model. He has sent out a "Request For Assistance" form and can't wait to read all the documented letters i have sent and received from Toyota/Jarvis Cars. I am certain that the OCBA will only be too happy to assist.

I am also calling the Ombusdman at midday today to seek their advice to the matter also. I am going all the way out now, i have had enough.

FWIW - The car is booked in for the 9th time and for the 12th day for rattles and airconditioner faults. What a bloody joke.

Finally! Thats great to hear, Hope fully you'll get a free upgrade to a Zr6 or Presara etc and some bonus Free fuel for a year for what its worth!

  10. Automotive ombudsman

    Fair trading commission

    Hell, maybe even ASIC

Call the Aust tax office and recommend they perform an audit on their company for selling didgy cars.

Go on, make life difficult for them. Get them investigated!

haha ASIC, only if you have shares in Toyota :),

Call on the Yakuza to put some pressure on the head guy in Japan lol..

  11. Speaking of which in contrary to the drive articles, I had funny noises in the car the other day each time i accelerated and took teh car for the complementary 1000k service, its fixed now. The serviceman said someone didnt do a good job of assembling, as some parts werent put in place properly.

but with all that fixed I notice a different engine note then what was in the beginning when I first bought the car. the car has a light diesel engine sound when on idle and slight gets louder as i accelerate, im not sure if this is normal or not....

  12. As said in earlier posts, forget about the dealer, its TMCA (Toyota Corp Aus) responsibility to provide you with a working car under the warranty period!

I would not email, I would CALL, goto the "Toyota Customer Relations Centre - (toll free) 1800 252 097 (Mon to Fri 9am - 5pm AEST)" first and raise your problem there straight away, see if you can get an agent to work on your issue and get their direct number etc.

And since you in SA, if nothing comes after the above go directly to http://www.ocba.sa.gov.au/ and try to get an appointment with them somehow.

  13. Yeah im a bit skeptical on those figures as well, its big but achievable only if the existing system is really restrictive, im sure Toyota didnt make that bad of an exhaust system...

The new IS350 runs the 2GR also, but acheives 230kw and like 40-50 more torque, wonder what tweaks it has over the Aurion...

  14. I paid 795 under rating 1,

I doubt they will even ask for proof, as long its in the policy and its what it is as it says when you get into an accident they will cover for you, Ive had friend with JustCar (is pretty much AAMI) and had done mods to their car got into an accident and Insurance paid off.

But there could be issues with police though, if your car is deemed unroadworthy before the accident happened e.g. mods, then the insurance company might use the police argument to shaft you.

  15. Thats hot, those style wheels suite well, now i gotta rethink what sort of rims I want haha..

    19's or 20's?

And how much clearance do you have from the ground to the car?

Oh yeah I reckon white is a killer on the aurion especially with the dark grey styling panels around the fogs/bumber/spoiler etc it blends well!

and how much all up was this?

  16. I think people tend to praise the build quality of cars itself not the customer service, ive been to many dealers and I can tell you a few of them are shifty....

But hey they are salespeople they are supposed to be... As long you go into a dealership with a strong mind or bring someone with a strong mind, plus haggling skills then thats ok.

If you want customer service check out the premium services that BMW, Mercedes etc can provide... obviously it comes with a cost.
