  1. im surprised you beat the wrx, honestly i would think the aurion would lose because rexies are AWD/turbo and since its AWD

more traction when launching compared to FWD.

but yeah i guess i was proved wrong =p

Well yeah... 'technically' speaking, off the line a rex should be an aurion, but once you take into account that a rex driver has to clutch in and out to change gear, unless the driver is pro, they could be losing up to or over a second of acceleration time, during which we would be absolutely gunning it!

from 80-110 the rex would be in front because they would be in about 4th gear, and they would be spending the entire time above 4k revs, which means a long time of turbo! (as long as they know how to drive and don't change too early, they will beat us at this point) but then as soon they change from 4th to 5th,

their acceleration goes all the way down again, and while we're still gunning they have dropped their revs, and have to climb back up to hit turbo again,

at which point they'll have been left because because the aurions high end torque it beastly!

well by the time they are on the 4th 5th geat they would be in the 200km/h zone, so the race would be over long time ago, unless you plan to drag across the nullabor haha.

oh yeah torque of the sti is 398nm holding up from a nice 4000rpm... so no issues there...

don't want to burst peoples bubble here, but really even a TRD aurion (6.1-6.2 - 0-100) wont beat the sti

  2. Hey Y-try,

I'm driving a black sx6, totally loving it!

left a story of my experiance with an STI the other night

    find it here http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...=13102&st=0

you're right, taking off wrx's really have nothing on us! =)

Haha lol, well given the sti does 0-100 in 5.4 stock plus 4wd compared to 7.2 for the aurion only fwd, I can just blame the driver on this one.

Ive beaten a person in a TT supra on the dragstrip of course but just hitting 100km/h only.

He was changing gears poorly and not power shifting (keeping the power up) and his car was full of junk material, (triple bookshelf spoilers, stickers beyond belief), and given the look he probably has the cheapo 20 buck silverstone tyres which break traction on daily driving, or purposely used for burnout hero sessions.

Its always 2 x the better feeling beating someone in a less of a class car :)

I remember when I had ****ty tyres at one stage, not really ****ty but bald, i couldnt overtake a tram in the wet!

  3. Nice rims =)

btw your Mtec 4750K are the normal halogen bulbs right?

if so, how come its so bright! i bought some Mtec 4750K Bulbs and they are no where near that bright!

i recently bought some 8000K HID and its like the same colour/ brightness as your lights.

    Thanks,

Yeah I prolonged the shutter to night shot on the camera and looks that bright, normal shot was too dark.

Yep they are normal halogens, and realisticly they are not bright at all - slightly less than the OEM standards.

I think your 8000k would be more bluer and definately brighter than mine as my camera tends to exagerate on the colour a bit, being more vivid plus the over exposure i did.

Mine would match a 6000K hid, but way less brighter....

  4. congrats. looks awesome. it will look even better when its lowered :) btw arent your lights looking too bluish for 4750k? or is it just the photos? i thought they dont appear bluish till 8000k

Thanks, Yeah its blueish in real life as the photos, on a HID 5000K is pure white, so i was on the assumption that it will be on that level but with these Mtecs its more like to a 6000k kit similar to what I had on the Skyline, a white light with a blue tinge. I might opt for a HID kit infact, 5000k, not too fond of the performance these would be in the wet...

So far on my list of upgrades is...:

    30mm lower

    4 x Eclipse 4way SE8495's

JVC Exad double-din AVX900 dvd player (Going to have to get the 2slot facia from toyota and I might recolor and clearcoat to blend in with the HU)

    amp and Type R subwoofer

TRD front and maybe rear bumper if a good price :).

  5. Hey all,

Just pics of my car and MTEC 4750K shots, car was dirty but seems ok in the photo. Looking to lowering it by 30mm.

Also the headlight shot seems to exaggerated a bit (Thanks to overexposing a bit :D )

  6. man let me know about that kit i need to get to los angeles asap be the first to rok it out here i got the carbon fiber hood for the aurion ready to be made i just need that front bumper and headlights for the messurments so if anyone get news of the kit let me kno b4 i go to ausy to get it in january

You guys have the Avalon (Looks a bit like an Aurion) and Camry, i dont think our TRD kits fit either...?

  7. hmmm, that does seem a little high! My Aurion Sportivo SX6 gets about 13.5, but that's what i expect from the way i drive. I almost always make use of the dual vvti, which is just about 4000rpm, and when i'm cruising my gears are always low enough to the revs are running at around 2500 - 3000.

And i usually go quite hard at the lights.

Are you driving it in sports mode or drive?

    Hmm I get 10.9-11 / 100km

Cruising i'll sit on 1500-2000 maintaining speeds

Yours seems to maintaining cruise a bit high...

  8. Wow, this is quite a thread, sorry about all your woes Blue but kodos to you for sticking to your guns.

In my opinion, you're probably best to stick with the current car, despite its creaks and rattles because you don't know what esle you could end up with if you change up to another using more of your money to do so.

Make them sort out the quality issues, keep hounding them, it's not right for you to have to shell out more of your money to resolve problems with their product.

Well he'll get a better car for sure, cant be as lemony as what he has now, and definately no more shelling out, buck stops here...!

  9. ^ I bought the Mtec H11 4750K bulb too, but some reason it didnt fit,

the clip things dont fit into the bulb sockets,

refer to the pics below (The red circles are the clip things that stick out and dont fit in the the socket, the original bulbs dont have the clip things)

    does urs look like that?

    l_136d1a79a235d84dc273d79dc36ad568.jpg

    l_d68e8a18c2a97692c0610eed3cc7a97f.jpg

hmm, mine had some clips but it didnt stick out so much, went straight in... did you try turning the bulb the other way?

and as a last resort file it down?

Though im kinda starting to regret the MTEC a bit, shoulda opted for some HID's....

  10. i bought some H11 Mtec bulbs and they dont fit for some reason ><

and in the user manual it says the bulbs are H11 so i dont know wats going on..

I just got my Mtec H11 4750K and installed it fine.

but for 4750 K its too blue!, i Had 6k HID on my Skyline previously and didnt look as blue as this Grrrr..

  11. Yeah AudioFX, try the one on queensberry road in the city, i think they may have done toyota's (Given they are just across the street to Melb City Toyota....)

Another good place is TowerAudio down at Oakleigh, bit more pricey but outstanding workmanship..

Avoid Gary'sCarRadio, they damaged my side mirror interior piece on my skyline trying to put in a tweeter and cabling stuckout from all over the place...

  12. i suggest u change the whole system in one time, rather than putting speakers in now, and sub, which u will need the converter, cost around $150, exclude labour. then u buy new HU, u will need to pay again for labour, and converter wont be used, bcoming a waste.

Original speaker if not wrong, is 6x9. U gotta rethink about 6.5 or 6... nowadays, ppl use 6.5x6.5, even for SQ..

Integrate steering wheel control, possible to mod so tat will work for volume and stuff, i DONT THINK can work for the speedo stuff. Basically cost $200(exclude labour).

I had another plan for installing aftermarket HU, and still make the speedo stuff works, but it doesnt worth it, too much trouble and labour time. i didnt even bother to make the volume work, for $300, i rather spend for deadening.

I recon u read around this forum before asking, there is a lot of info bout audio mod for aurion in this section.

Yeah I had read around the forum... but there isn't too much mention of going to 6 inches as opposed to 6x9s (sorry mistyped in my original post). I agree about the sound deadening, as it does definitely make an improvement on sound. I figure being a new car, it would however still be nice to retain all the features including the steering wheel controls.

The main reason I want to upgrade the HU, is because I tend to use the iPod a fair bit for music, rather than CD's, which are quite inconvenient. The stock head unit doesn't seem to have any input, other than the mp3 cd support, which is pretty much standard these days. I have noticed recently on the website that there is actually a new head unit available that isn't mentioned in the brochures, which includes an aux-in jack on the front. I'm going to try and find out the price for one of these from my dealer soon.

Either way, it's just a small consideration at the moment, as my old car used to have atrocious sound on it initially, so I am in a way used to it lol

It really depends how much you're prepared to spend. I agree with Dannywss, it's not worth changing the current head unit, especially with the integrated steering controls. I upgraded my sound system. Added front splits, rear coaxials, couple of subs and couple of amps to power them. You will need a convertor to hook the head unit with the amps, etc. The converted in my system is the Rockford 3Sixty.1. It's about $500 retail. It's got an AUX, so it should work with the ipod. It's just a matter where you get it installed.

As for the speakers, some modifification will need to be done for the 6.5 inch to fit. Speak to a specialist car audio place. They wouldn't have any trouble with the install.

If you're in victoria, checkout www.glprosound.com.au

These are the guys who upgraded my aurion and i'm happy with the results. Again, it's just a matter of how much you want to spend.

Well with new headunits these days theres some with a remote port/interface, which can be ported to connect to the remote controls on a car. (just a matter of connecting which pin to what. With the Aurion its just VOL+/-, Channel or TRACK +/-, and SRC, im pretty sure the remote port will have these being a standard function on all HU's

    Example check out http://clarion.com/au/en/products/2007/aud...1866289522.html

    and http://www.alpine.com.au/products/product.asp?modelID=233

And im pretty sure Audio installers can hookit up easy

  13. Sorry to hear about the accident :(

Have you tried asking Dealer/Toyota if they could do a adapted version of the car?

If you ask toyota to do it it will cost you a arm and a leg :P hahaha sorry i had too..

Im sure you could make something up yourself.. Only thing you will have to get it passed by the MVR.

ASk some of the driving schools where they get there pedel setups the ones with the dual system in the passanger seat.

    Ah perhaps, but always ask....

    Also

"If you have a disability and require car modifications, you are able to receive a refund from the State Revenue Office for the cost of Stamp Duty on the purchase of a car or for modifications on a car, whichever is the lesser amount. You must fill in a Stat Dec form, obtainable from the Department.

Phone: 03 9628 6839 (and supply receipts for modification work completed)"

Make sure you get this claim bud!

  14. Well youre not really comparing apples with apples with the Aurion and IS350 engine.

IS350 has 2GR-FSE, the main difference being direct injection fuel delivery (+ conventional port fuel injection as well strangely enough). 232kW, 377Nm... and with the direct injection the 2GR-FSE is considerably more efficient than the 2GR. 2GR-FSE has made it into the worlds top 10 best engines 2 years running now.

so could you get the 232kw out of the aurion engine by swapping the ecu with the is350 chip?

No u cant..., because of the dual system you wont be able to, Aurion has only one.

  15. $800 for a set of the 19's :) :) :) ... They're heaps cheaper than the standard Toyota alloys...

!!!!!!!, man what sort of line of work do you do? If you work for toyota im going to ask my mate who works there as well if he could get that price.... if he cant

I might gonna hassle you to get me some :P

  16. ....... but the ecu can be reset so i would drive like a grandma for the first 1000km's and then do a ECU reset ........

Lots of talk of an ECU Reset. I thought the ECU was purely adaptive. How do you do a manual reset?

Cut the power Unplug the battery source leave it for awhile till the capacitors drains out of juice.

  17. Blah just say your car is in the panel beaters with a crack on the bumper and you need to replace it, I dont think they want to see evidence etc that you have a TRD lol.

yea, i believe you can do so with this way easy. just say you have crashed by someone from the back and need a new back bumper. If u r serious enough into buying 1, i am happy to ask my panel beater for price.(looks like fun)

an Aurion with TRD aurion bumper.. <_< interesting...

Yeah would be interested, the TRD front is much more aggressive and would look sweet with 20's and lowered a bit. I dont think it says TRD anywhere on the bar...?

zr6 sportivo kit imo looks better than the trd kit. gold zr6 with 19 black trds would look better than a normal trd aurion imo. i only like the rear diffuser of trd and thats pathetic as well as u can see the exhaust inside lol.

...but with black how hot does this look :P.....
