  1. 533? thats without GST? (533x4 = 2132 + decent tyres @ 150 each = 2700 / GST = 2900) Still Hefty price... wait awhile till some TRD owner decides to sell them on ebay lol.

Did you also get what tyres would be put on and what price, though it would be better to buy the mags and fit the tyres afterwards.

4k??? thats laughable, I would laugh at his face when he said that, Thats what you call exploiting the naivity of people thinking of thats what its worth.

As with the TRD bumper it will fit, you need the bumper and the grill replaced. My friend who got me the discount for my Zr6 researched it and says theres no reason not to fit.

  2. Car looks to concepty, i dont think it will be that.

From what I have been told the GTR clocked the official 2nd fastest (off the shelf production car) around the Nurb at 7.38, number one still is the Porche Carrera GT at 7.28, wait till Vspec @ est 410kw being 330 pounds lighter or any nismo editions then it probably be #1.

the carrera gt unfortunately got beaten by zonda f late last year by .2 secs.

7:27:82. hope the cgt gets the record back.

True to a point but there was alot of debate whether this was a true production car, they said the Radical SR3 Turbo was a production car, it made the quickest time as well and the BMW M3 CSL made 7.22 but it was very heavily modified but BMW claimed it was Production... I doubt the GT will reclaim, but Im sure though Porche will build a meaner machine soon enough to claim back the crown....

That said GTR being 4 - 3 times less in price to those said, acheiving that time is a super acheivement from a supercar that you dont need to be a hollywood star to afford!

  3. I think the wheels look great - Do the rims actually say TRD on them ? That would be the only down side to using them on a standard Aurion.

Trouble is that they'd probably cost twice as much from TRD compared to a set of similar aftermarket rims.

rims do not say trd at all. just the toyota emblem as you see in the picture. which is good. they cost as much as a brand new set of bbs chs. so its actually ideal. lot of the wheels you see around that go for bargain prices will show its quality as years go by. thats why its better to pay extra.

Well for expected price youd pay for those TRD ones, im expecting its going to be a mint, for that same price I reckon youd get better rims @ the same dimensions, Youd find many importers selling BBS, Enkei, Volk, Racing Hart @19's for around the 2.5K mark, very lightweight.

Trust me, Corporations are not going to put a super mint set of wheels on a 60K car its not worthwhile especially if the car doesnt sell, they better off making an impression that its good by looking good, if the TRD website doesnt boast about the rims which it doesnt merely stating "performance alloy wheels", then id bet it would be a second rate item.

Get a price quote and ask the dealer what material is it made from?

  4. Guys,

Just remember 240kw on the car is alot to handle already for a FWD?, they decided not to go more power because it affected the drivability, the torque steer started to become too noticable, so they left it as that to be balanced out,

If your after an aftermarket kit, just remember there more costs involved than the kit and installation, fuel system and mappings need to be recalibrated and as complex as teh 2G-FE engine is, it could be a no go from any workshop apart from TRD to do anything, plus warranty will be voided.

  5. Meh, had mine done at tint professor 28% i recall all round their black one, no problems with interference at all.

AcoustiK, did you check out the Endurance tint at the Tint Professor?

On their website they recommend the Endurance tint for black cars. Has anyone seen how this looks and would they recommend it?

Endurance was the silvery one is it?, I was recommended the blackish one, as the car has chrome window lining the black on black works great.

Yep, the Endurance is more "neutral" and "reflective". I must say, from the pics, I prefer the black tint.

    Yep :)

  7. I would like to see what an Aurion can run on the drag strip it would be interesting to see what it could do.

The tests show it's quick but not thta quick as you would expect a 1630KG 200KW auto car would be.

Wheels tested a ZR6 in Jan 2007 it was the fastest family auto six.

    0-60 3.7

    0-80 5.5

    0-100 7.4

    0-120 9.9

    0-400m 15.3 @154kmh

    80-120kmh 4.4

Wheels tested a ZR6 in NOV 2006 it was a bit slower except in mid range.

    0-60 3.8

    0-80 5.6

    0-100 7.5

    0-120 10.0

    0-400m 15.5 @151kmh

    80-120kmh 4.3

So if you went to the track yourself and did it one up, fuel warning light on, PULP with octane boost, stripped of all junk weight spare wheel etc. What could you get? 14.5 I doubt it lets see the slip

i threw out my slip but i got proof dat i did 14.5 1/4 mile

    check out my vid

    Serious??

  8. bout the update on my air filter, everything works fine and no more error on the speedo. found out that the problem did not came from the mod of air pod BUT my farking old problem with sterring wheel and suspension...(a problem which cant be fixed by Lane toyota for 3 months and counting..)

Anyway, we found out tat there are 3 stage tat is blocking better air flow, if u wanna know more, just open everything up and take a look, then u will understand what i m referring to. Picture has been taken, but cant get the sound uploaded n recorded as what it feels in the car..(sth that isnt easily can be explained)

    But overall, ITS NICEE!

Danny, where abouts are you in melb? Do you own a garage?

    How long did it take?

u wanna take a test drive? I live in Clayton, goes to Caufield for uni, toorak for church on sunday, springvale for food on saturday... mb meet up some time if u wan..

Yeah, i don't mind meeting up, I'm in glenny!

Anyone else want to meet up sometime? can meet at Wellington/Springvale Rd Mc Donalds! We can check out Danny's pod, and My new exhaust!

wouldnt mind either, im in Vermont, car needs a wash though before meeting up...

  9. Take it to another service center regardless, it doesnt matter which service center u take it, I bought my Aurion fron Lane and I take it to City Toyota, Unless you have already agreed with the dealer for extra service benefits from the dealer when you bought the car.

Just make sure u dont take it in with the pod, they easily jib u on anything engine/drivetrain related because of it.

  10. Well aftermarket could mean anything really, you can get cheapothat weigh a tonne or you can get 3 piece forged lightweight racing rims that will weigh like nothing,

Do yourself a favour get a price for the TRD rims, and do shop around, I bet you can get better with the price youd pay for the TRD rims.

Correct me if i'm wrong but aren't most of the best well known light weight wheels all one piece... its more like 1 piece forged lightweight wheels compared to the heavier 3 piece wheels.

Manufacturers tend to use the 3 piece for more bling setups. For example, the lip of a 3 piece wheel could be polished or chromed, while the spokes might get powder coated or painted.

Correct to a point, the lightest you will get will be in a 1 piece platform of course given less material attachment, but you can get racing lightweight 3 piece rims, for example simmons racing is a top brand, do a search in google for 3 piece lightweight rims and ull be suprised.

  11. Did MOTOR really get 14.8 qtr out of a ZR6?

Seems awful quick for their conservative two up test method. was it a best one up one way or what.

    Congrats on the buy,

True it not as fun as RWD but hey this aint a sports car...

I am happy with the Zr6 i have bought, and tell you what it is a sleeper to many people. They don't expect a camry base to go so fast as they expected to go, clocked by motor mag, a Zr6 does 0-100 @ 6.8sec and Qtr mile at 14.7, given the assumption they were driving fresh not broken in cars, I think the times could be .1 to .2 faster again.

This time my friend is as fast as a XR6T ute, faster than A BF NA 6 and VE NA 6's, let alone fuel economy is more impressive. The engine itself has been rated as one of the worlds best (but the test was done on the Direct injection version of this ala 240kw version),

As for the wheels check out the TRD website and take the numbers for the tyres they used on thier 19's that should be the right one..

Not sure on the testing Jon, I just checked out the quick facts pages at teh back of the mag and thats is what they quoted, tho dissappointing to see they gave the Zr6 it a 2/5 star. Agree with their approach to this, Ive heard from a mate that theyve quoted a Falcon GT-P acheiving 14.2 qrtr, but in reality its been clocked at 13.5

Just to note, Ive floated on the FORD forums as well, and people have witnessed Aurions making 14.5-14.7's runs, as biased as they should have been they were impressed/suprised at the Aurions potency.

I used to be on the ford forums when I had a ford which I drag raced a bit at WSID so it was probably me talking up the Aurion justifying being a traitor! I haven't raced the Aurion myself as I am trying to age gracefully and not get my car confiscated but if I had I could tell you my that on my Aurion can do low 15's quite easily. I doubt I could get it below 15.3 stock one up petrol warning light on with PULP no spare no tools stripped of all accessories that are easy to take off. It is a Preasra which is a bit lardy so maybe an ATX on a good day who knows but mid 14's is hard work for 200fwkw and 1600kg.

It is tempting me to have a go though. But... . I did promise the missus I would give drag racing.

maybe if we could get a few like minded Aurion owners to make a night out to WSID I could be cajoled into it again.

Fpvzr6, said he got 14.5 when he took it to the strip, read the 400-meter thread aurionvs380vscommodore etc...

  12. Cool... Anyone actually know the 1/4 mile time for one of these things?

Mum just ordered a Sportivo ZR6 model.. not gonna be happy if its faster than my car lol

yea mate ive done my 1/4 mile in 14.5

    check out da video

    wat car u got lol

have you got the timesheet of of the run? would be good to have it scanned, it'll shut those fordies at caradvice.com talking shyte.

  13. Agree, I wouldnt purchase a TRD Aurion, its just they slapped in a supercharger, nicer seats and a crazy colour scheme, put 20K over the base Aurion price.

If they put this on a AWD platform, better suspension, throatier exhaust, better gearbox, then it would be considered,

FWD and that much power is just ridiculous, They said if could have been more power but the FWD platform was the limitation,

Hopefully in the future we see a 2GFSE model Aurions (240kw base imagine boosting it would make...) with and AWD platform like what was done to the Magnas, then that's something.

Oh pleaseeee don't say "like the Magnas"

I look at the Magna sports and i cringe/laugh...

Yes it is an fugly car, but they had AWD (only good thing out of them). Toyota would be silly not to consider changing Wheel drive if they plan to up the KW in the future.

  15. Thanks everyone for your comments.

    @riftime

I was the same, I tried all the brands and was initially looking at the new Mondeo Sport, but something was missing - power! hehehe

    @adrian

It does appear from what I have read on the net that 19/35 is right, but all the calculators I have tried seem to say that 19/40 is a better match. Anyway I will go to the local Mag/Tyre place and get their advise.

    @acoustiK

Your right as adrian said, the TRD website does indicate 19/35 but do they tweak the speedo? Also there is no doubt this is a very quick V6 - I am still learning how to motivate it, but it seems very responsive and agile. I can believe those times. I have access to a drag way near here and will go to an open day to see what I can do. That will be when the car is run in and I am not so protective :-)

    @clementwcm

That does seem like a very good price. I paid NZ$39,775 converted, this is AU$35,000 - The ZR6 would have cost me NZ$42,000 which is approx $AU37,500 I had the benefit of Fleet discount because the company I work for (who pay me $NZ19,000 p/a car allowance) provided a letter stating the vehicle is a part of their fleet.

Cars a very cheap in NZ by comparison to OZ because of the high number of Jap imports that keep the retail price down. Of course the downside of this is greater depreciation and less at trade in or sale time.

At the moment I don't care at all about this :-)

I have now filled the tank for the first time. I averaged on the first tank 10.1l p/100km which is absolutely amazing. Currently I am averaging 9.3l p/100km but it is rising.

I know what your thinking, I must drive like a Nana, but I haven't been. I actually think I am being wasteful because I am still learning the auto gear changes and in some cases pushing down one to many gears etc and not driving as smooth as I can. I haven't held back on acceleration - how could I! So so far the economy is living up to the advertising blurb.

I want to take some photo's but since I picked the car up last Thursday it hasn't stopped raining after 3 month's of drought! - go figure that?

Mate, I would LOVE to see what you clock up, if its what its cracked up to be, take a camera shot and it'll be good evidence to shut those Ford fairies at Caradvice.com, Been battling their ignorance, all they have been coming up with is Torque and RWD, theres more to it than just that to make a car faster than the other...
