  1. if they do ask for a VIN number, i can supply it via PM... :P

    U Kiddin??

    U can be like..Our supplier for the TRD's Kit..LoL

Just wonderin..Have u ever asked how much is ur Kit for all sides? Excluding the Wings on the back.

I got a quote from Toyota around 1300 for all sides including the wings and they allowed me to get the kits even though I didnt even own a TRD..lol

PM me too, very keen on a front bar/grill only not a fan of the oblong exhaust ports that get dirty easy on the TRD

  2. Seems as though I may have been mislead by an expert in the suspension field. The question when I lowered mine was directed to the shocks/struts as well as the spring. Knowing a little about it I naturally thought these components had to be changed as well. Not necessary, so I was told by the guy at pedders. I'll make myself a couple of calls tomorrow and find out not only from Pedders but also Fulcrum suspensions, who are the Kings springs dealers here. Will let you know the outcome.

One talks of a standard Aurion .... ATX? ZR6? I think somehow there is a bit of difference in suspension between the two ??

Umm probably not misled, u asked whether u need to change as well and he said not 'necessarily' which is correct... u can fit them without changing the shocks and other parts and will work, but if you asked if it will last as long as it would before then if he said yes in that account then thats misleading.

Keep it anyways as replacing the shocks should be a problem and not that expensive anyways if they happen to leak (From experience, my sisters mirage, lowered had a leak on the stock shocks and had to be replaced, costed $220 for a pair of Monroe sports shocks, so its pretty cheap and still going strong nowdays) , but if your planning to sell the car in the future just keep an eye out on it, as u don't want to turn off potential buyers .

  3. Not sure why Toyota did not include an input jack connection for external music players. Most other toyota models have a input jack however the Aurion's audio unti does not.

Has anyone figured a way to connect an iPod to the head unit. Currently I'm using a Griffin transmitter however the sound quality is not 100% since it's using the FM transmission. Is there an input jack in the rear of the headunit ? If someone has pulled there out maybe they would know. I don't want to pull mine out to find that there is none.

The moto for Toyota is, that if you can afford an Aurion, most likely the buyer can afford the HU upgrade, they are just upselling to get more out of you.

  4. Umm doesnt the TRD aurion suspension and spring combo sit lower than a standard aurion?,

And changing the shocks to a TRD or to sports aftermarket one to say at least should be better in the long run against wear and tear, as leaving it, the King springs will put alot more shock onto the stock dampers since they would be stiffer and most likely not used to the punishment and hence more prone to leaks sooner etc.

  5. zr6er: i disagree... the front merge collector can DEFINITELY be improved!!!

also, typhoon is being phased out, so resale would suck. plus the new model being released would have a LOT of issues as all new fords do.

danny: **** man, that really sucks... :(

i'm still looking at my options, so nothing will be happening with mine either...

Nah I reckon the resale would be better given the years down the track against a TRD Aurion, As always ford or holden will have a cult following and people would pay on the mid to high range people are expecting to sell these. Especially if you have the FPV badge, GTP's have been sliding towards the collectors showcase.

Agree Ford or Holden have been plagued with issues, but if the FG's are problem free then I think like an XR6T or a G6ET would be sweet, if you can afford a Typhoon with its 300kw+ that would be sweeter.

  6. okay... so i've been bored lately... and thinking of ways of making the sound of the car beefier but also using the varex muffler so that i can shut the noise up if need be...

discussion on the suggested system below is welcome!

my reasoning behind this is so that i only have to use ONE varex muffler instead of two...

and as darius has mentioned, apparently the stock resonator does a REAALLLYYYY good job of shutting up the system... and by just replacing the rear mufflers, that does SFA for the sound...

now, i know nothing about exhaust designs... and all that back pressure bull****... so can anyone tell me if there is an issue with having such a long pipe after the varex muffler in the middle of the car?

    planned_trd_exhaust_139.jpg

IMO for your force induced 3.5 ltr car you want something in the lines of a 3" to 4" exhaust system as backpressure has become an enemy to the boost,

I Dont think there is any issue of putting th muffler in replace to the resonator, just make sure there is enough clearance off the ground..

Out of interest has anybody checked on what the yanks and their camry/Avalon? Im pretty sure there has to be someone there whose done an exhaust upgrade and have had it dynoed...

  7. Speakers do more of an impact than changing the HU but not speakers,

I have the Eclipses all round running off the Kenwood HU, but I will be getting a 4ch amp to power these as they are getting ripped by the SoloBaric Sub. I like a combination of SPL and SQ thru my cabin speakers so i'll definately looking to push the 6x9's to their rms range

Whats the dimensions of your POD for the rears BlueSx? my springs are scrapping the rear speaker magnets, whats the limit you can go?

I'll make the measurement for you tonight. We did make the pods using two different thickness pieces of MDF, the bottom pod is the shape of the factory unit and the top baffle is mounted to the pod and is the same shape as a 6x9 speaker but slightly larger. Even though it took a while to make (8 cutouts) the end result was an absolute perfect fitment.

We are contemplating making up a swag of the pod kits for members if people don't have woodworking skills or aren't keen doing it themselves.

    Thanks mate!

  9. hey guys, ive got a camry (recent) selling my dvd touch screen if anyones intrested. its a pioneer avic hd-3 and yes it only has australia wide mappings too, got from a mate that works at audio-fx. i will also throw in the genuwine face cover to fit the unit in as well. the aurions and camrys cd players are exactly the same! i want it gone for $2700, of corse prices are neg.

Damn thats a nice unit, why are you selling it?

  10. Anyone know where to purchase one of these Sat Nav aftermarket units (apart from eBay)?

no idea but if i get the factory sat nav for the aurion zr6 im going to take it to a place to see if they can do something to it to play dvds. lol if they say for 200-250 well do it. im willing to give them that much. would be awesome to watch music clips when driving or watching dvds on road trips.

goto www.burgdesign.com.au they sell them there. IMO these are rubbish, most likely using a older gen LCD screen (viewable from dead on only), and most likely cannot be updated. I would rather spend around 2k and get a aftermarket head unit and get a car interior design business to blend it into the console a bit more.

In regards to factory, Remember your will probably void your warranty on that unit when tampering with it. Also there is some legality around driving and watching videos. Most aftermarket units like the Kenwood I have, your *off the shelf install* only allows you to watch the videos while the *parking break is engaged*, theres ways around it but if possibly a cop passes next to you and sees it on he may book you.

Are you saying those aftermarket units from burgdesign.com.au are ****house?

    is that sarcasm lol....

  11. Sounds like u got Frked man,

Like those stories where cops fining people for 1cm over the stopping line, and having your arm resting on the window sill of the car, little things to ruin your day, and you smirkng back at him, just made his day.

Typically on a normal situation, they would look at your Tyre load ratings only, thinner tyres mean less rating hence something to pick on....

Going past +2 over the stock rims is debatible because cars come as an stock option e.g. 18's kappas. Another thing the the total diameter of tyres+rims, forgot the number but it is in the lines of 2cm.

Cops can do anything they want really, even if its legal they'll give u the canary and ud be wasting time and money getting a RWC if not a proper EPA/RTA/Vicroads check.

  12. Using a part of the engine particularly the bottom block and everything else aftermarket/custom built, isnt really that engine anymore, you cant say hey look the 2G Aurion v6 is capable of this so and so KW... Likewise with many Falcon Bosses/Holden LS's reworked majorly to get 800kw+, its no longer the same. Because in the end its like people getting 280kw+ on thier 2ltr Honda Vtec engine.

You can get crazy power for an onroad going Aurion by going heavily on the mods, but why would you? its going to cost a mint, secondly say good night to fuel economy and thirdly the Aurion isnt a real good platform to begin with... Also can the stock 6sp gearbox handle it in the end?

  13. more after some bolt-ons. in the way of cold air induction what you got available? any piks of this before and installed?

as for the supercharger not really that keen on it.. too much money to do it all might as well just buy a trd version work out much cheaper.

i have seen one of these engines twin turboed producing 630kw i think it was on a like dune buggy with not that great a deal of boost. but thats too much power i just want to make around 250kw at the treads. what could be bought in the way of vvti?? could you maybe get like a vtec controller installed or does the aurion vvti system work diffrently to vtec?

I agree the TRD Harrop supercharger is a better bet and should give more torque or power at lower revs with less losses as it is a better more modern design.

I think you need glasses though if you have seen a 630kw 3.5L Toyota V6, it would be battling to get 630HP even.

if you think i need glasses to see what a 630Kw 3.5L looks like then so be it but here is the motor you tell me this motor is only capable of producing a 200Kw at the fly figure....

just rember that GAS motorsport are punching out 1000HP+ out a 2JZ yes difrent motor i understand this but look at the capicity of that engine... here is the aurion motor that produces "630Kw" 630Kw.jpg

Do you mean this one here in this article,

    http://digiads.com.au/car-news/latest-TOYO...5km_200712.html

yes the basis was from an Aurion V6, but look at teh mods, its entirely a new engine. only thing they kept is the bottom end. I doubt they would have even kept the VVTLI system either.

  14. Might I suggest the current Camry then?

Its smooth for a 4 cylinder car.

I heard the fuel consumption on the camry is not that much less then the aurion.

the other option i have is ford focus and honda accord second hand of course.

In fact on the sticker on the new cars the ca,ry consumes more... Aurion at 9.9 the Camry 10.2 or soemthing like that.

THe only reason why u would choose the Camry, is cheaper to buy and cheaper to maintain being a 4 cyl car.

If petrol is your thing then i would advise going to diesel, but make sure its a good one though.

They reckon petrol will hit 3 dollars and more in 5 years time, if it does, definately impact on demand and price on large 6's.11

  15. On a FWD, thats crazy, Toyota even advised they could push the TRD more but they said you couldnt drive it.. apparently the TRD Aurion is alraedy on the verge of discomfort, correct me if its wrong Secaboy that from your experience flooring it from 0, would already be pulling at your arm a bit.

Do you happen to have a link to where Toyota have said this,?

id love to have a read of it ,

220 fwkws aint as bad as you would think, My GT2 is quite controllable, wet the road and its a very different story, but i understand what your sayin, the TRD has plenty of poke for what it is ,!

Looking to trade my ZR6 very soon for one! :yahoo:

Unfortunately no, i read it on a newspaper article, herald sun I think a while back ago, Toyota purposely targeted the 240kw mark as it was at the optimal to give the balanced car as its to be marked as. Not sure if this was coming from Buttner's mouth or some other Toyota exec.

But heres an interesting article -> http://www.webwombat.com.au/motoring/news_...stralia-trd.htm
