  1. $1753 is a rip off, I bet you got this quote for Carmate. Everyone in Sydney knows to stay away from this place. Theere is member of the Sydney crew who has a carbon bonnet that he got for $600 & I have been quoted previously $1000 for the C-One Bonnet.

haha no mate that would be from your very good mates at ignition-x.. Ripoff indeed :)

My Mistake. It has been sometime since I was interested in this type of item. $1700 is probably close to the mark for the CF bonnet. I had a look at the C-One JP site & using today's exhange rate the item is worth approx $1200 AUD. If you add freight on top of this then the price of $1700 is not that bad.

Having said that I have seen the CF C-One Bonnet up close & the in my opinion the product is first class, excellent finish & very light weight, if I could afford it I would get on without hesitation.

Once again I aopligise for the incorrect information. :D

Out of interest, have you got any quotes on doing the job?

  2. The cost to purchase, paint & fit will probably cost you almost as much a Carbon Fiber C-One Bonnet.

Extremely doubtful, ive priced a fair few scoops, universal ones both from ssv.com.au and carmate and ill be looking at $100- $200 for the scoop.. NO idea how much itll be to paint and fit, give or take $300 id say..

Compare this with the $1753 'someone' wants for the c-one bonnet, and i think ill come out with a bit of cash left in the pocket. :P

On top of purchasing & painting you still have the cost of fitment which will involve cutting a hole in your bonnet which will not be cheap.

Anyway, good luck with your bonnet scoop.

  3. Looking to buy one of these to clean my car (i saw one in action today and was amazed at how fast it cleaned my car - even if it was just with water)

    http://www.bunnings.com.au/site/awdepfour....09&depnum=10873

Anything one should be aware of before buying one of these?

Can we connect these to our hoses (for those of us in NSW) or must it run thru a bucket?

I suggest just sticking with a Bucket & Water. High pressure water can actually damage your paint & really aren't very effective are removing small particles of dirt. They are great for off road vehicles that get caked in mud.

I would also recommend a Meguairs Lambs Wool cleaning mit instead of a sponge. If you really want to look after the paint work I would have one mit for the top half of the car & another for the bootom half of the car & perhaps a sponge just for the wheels.

For anyone that wants to connect a high pressure cleaner to a tank of water you will need to purchase a small pump to connect between the tank & the cleaner to create enough pressure for the cleaner to work properly. If you don't do this the Cleaner will cavitate & over heat as there won't be enough water going into it.

  4. IM thinking about getting some sort of custom vents or scoop for my corolla bonnet.. Has anyone here done it and if not why not? Its such and easy cosmetic addition to set yourself apart from 'every other corolla'..

Post some pics if you have any..

    Cheers

  5. i had this monster truck R/C... worth about $1000, and i broke the engine in slowly and according to the instructions...

on the first glorious day when i could take it to the track and race it and belt it over jumps and all that, i went down to the bmx track in castle hill with my mate... i had my turn and then gave him a turn.

about 30 seconds later, i was carrying the truck back to the car, front left axle in about 4 pieces, wheel just hanging on... full speed into a pole will rip one of these things apart...

it was a sad day for me.

Same thing happened to me earlier this year.

Just finished putting together my new electric road car. Latest Lightweight chassis, race ready, every hot up part I could buy. Handed Control to my brother. 5 seconds later whole front smashed in. Hit the only metal pole in a 100 Sq mt area at about 80km/h. Almost brought a tear to my eye.

lesson 1 - never let anyone including relatives drive your R/C car

For anyone that is interested the link below will take you to the HPI website. These are the guys who make the Stage D drift R/C cars. I've seen them in the shops ready to go out of the box for around $600 if I remember rightly. Awesome toy.

  6. Bills car pulled 108kw stock and there were some cars there with cai that were pulling 104-105kw if i remember correct . All the cars that got over 110kw were early 03 models, i think they have different heads and flow better at top end.

    mines an 04 and i pulled 4th highest :P over 110kw

I agree with what u say about 03 models. My wife's 03 easliy goes up a hill near my house in 6th gear where in my 04 it's better to change down a gear. Although mine feels like it accelerates harder from standstill.

  7. Hey guys, i dunno if you visit other forums, but i been on team ground zero and also nissansilvia.com. And some of the members have signatures of their own car as cartoons!!!

They look soo cool. they got their name on the side and stuff, does anyone know how to do these? I wanna get one done for my car haha

Where did u get your current signature

  8. blah,

The Yaris is such a girly, poorly designed car that i wouldnt buy one of these for $25k even if it had 600hp. As Bill said, Toyota Australia really need to stop trying to dominate the female market, the men could use a half decent Toyota performance car *cough* 4WD twin turbo V8...

Lame attempt to fill a niche market segment with this one Toyota - shame...

I like your thinking! When you say 4WD twin turbo V8 I immediately think Audi RS4. Such a great all rounder. Pricey yes but having a car that can take you to work in comfort during the week, take grandma to church on a sunday as well as blowing off just about any type of Aussie or Jap performance car the night before....now thats special!

Perhaps toyota should plan a drivetrain like this for the Aurion or even the IS250.

Either way, sounds like its an exciting time for hot hatch buyers!

In the States they have a AWD IS350 & I have heard rumor that there might be an AWD IS430, watchout BMW

  9. A very interesting development ... i wonder how they've managed to keep this 1zz @ 100KW but comply with the fuel emissions laws but yet they had to de-tune the corolla ..... <_< <_< <_< <_< <_< <_<

I think its also about time toyota stops d.i.c.k.i.n.g around and actually make a full and proper performance car <_< <_< <_< <_< <_<

Can I hear you say "CALDINA"

  10. Dude, I dont think its an issue of is 17" or 19" ok or not, it is the actual track (width increase of 25mm max) and rolling diameter (no more than 15mm if I remember correct).

So you need to take into account the width of the rim, the offset, camber and the tyres you use !!

So unless the cop has the specs for the "optional wheel" for a particular model and has the means to calculate your current setup .. there should be no **** way in hell they can defect you !!!

    You are spot on

  11. i think we should get a mixed once in a while, just so that we can bench mark and share ideas. We should only invite ppl we know well and not just any di%^head. I got a few mates who are sensible and are keen to cruise, remember Mr Levin and Mr Clio Sport, now Mr 180sx...see they are good blokes and dont stuff around. I rekon we should have different cars turning up periodically but only if they are invites and ppl we know and trust. Its a bit slack to ditch the boyz on a Saturday night to do your own thing. This is my opinion anyways.

MAYBE WE SHOULD HAVE A VOTE!!!!

I agree with Grey-Rolla, invites are cool every now & then

It would be good to get some Celica's & Echo's down there. I've seen at least one Turbo Celica & Echo in my area.

Need those Stickers to promote the club.

  12. Hi guys

I got some fiberglass eyelids from www.carmate.com

but im not sure if they have them for the facelift headlights yet.

    Glenn

A lot of members don't say nice things about Carmate. Among other things they are expensive. If you know where they are you should come to our monthly meets just down the road at the Bunnings Superstore.

  13. Let me tell you there are alot of skylines and commadores out there that dont comply!!!

Theres heaps of Cars out there that are not road legal & for most of the people who own these illegal vehicles it will never be a problem for them but for some its a problem that will take many years to get over. I will give you an example of what my friend is currently going through right now.

My friend purchased a 2nd hand VN SS Commondore. This car came with a set of 18" wheels that the previous owner had put on the car. My friend who is took the attitude that is doesn't really matter what the rules are now has a serious problem because a short time later his wife was involved in an accident in this car that was her fault. As per the process an Insurance investigator assessed the vehicle. The inspector noted that the tyres fitted to the car did not meet the minimum load rating specified by the manufacturer & therefore he voided the policy. This left my friend who has sought leagl advise with the debt of finance for his car, the debt of replacing the car & worst of all the debt of fixing the BMW that his wfe hit in the accident. Due to high value of this debt my friend has opted to pay it off in instalments of $50 a week for the next 20 years.

  14. hehehehehe all good grahame i was just being sacastic!!!LOL

Cool, I got a bit worried as I have noticed a bit of animosity towards igintion-x.

To everyone out there in Sydney, if you want parts for your Corolla or Echo then go to igintion-x. The people there are very helpful & friendly, unlike some other performance shops in Sydney who only want to know you if you own a WRX or Skyline. Ignition-x are should be supported for being brave enough to specialise in such a niche field.

    http://www.ignition-x.com/

Please note: I do not work for Igntion-x, I am just a happy customer. :D :D

  15. HAHAHAHAAAHaaa.......Good one Pete now im gonna get in trouble by a mod!!!LOL

Actually make it quick because i am not goin to be at the place mentioned for very much longer!!! :P

Sunny - Why would you get in trouble with a MOD, what did you do?

Someone asked where to get eyelids from. I advised them to go & get them from where I got them from. I don't work for you or Benson.

No one seems to have a problem with promoting CES in Queensland so I don't think I have broken any rules.

    I don't understand.
