  1. Quick question. The remus exhaust for the Sportivo whats your impression?

    Any good?

    Sound?

    Cost??

    Cheers

I have just recently had the Remus Muffler fitted to my 04 Sportivo. I am extremely happy with what I got. The sound of the exhaust is deep & throaty but relatively quiet. Meaning that there is plenty of noise when you are excelarating but when you cruising along at a steady speed it is very quiet, no cabin drone which is typical of most exhaust.

There is not really any difference with the power of the car, maybe a little more torque but it has definately made the engine breathe better & it now seems more willing to rev.

It also looks fantastic. The finish of the muffler is second to none.

I have heard many different exhaust on the Sportivo in particular & in my opinion the sound that is generated is better than most, but obviously this is a personnal opinion.

Worth every penny although I'm not sure if I should be saying this as I like being one of the few who have this exhaust.

  2. For anyone that wants to know.

My father who works for Toyota Australia has just taken delivery of his new Corolla Sportivo that has come out of the last batch of Corolla Sportivo's to land in the country. The total number that came into the country in this shipment was 300. This quantitiy will be distributed around the country with most going to Sydney & Melbourne. I would say that most of these are available as he as only recived his in last few weeks.

He has also told me that it is highly unlikey that we will get the compressor version in this Country as there were only 250 distrubuted worldwide & to his knowledge no more will be made.

  3. i am also looking at 18's to try to fill the depressingly large guards of my rolla... what size tyres should i get then???

I can't find an 18" tyre that will legally fit the Corolla ACCORDING TO NSW LAW'S.

215/35/18 - Correct size but Tyre does not meet load rating requirements.

225/35/18 - This tyre will meet the required load rating but is too wide according to the Law. You can only go 1" wider than standard. This means if you have a Sportivo which comes with a 195/55/16 you can only go as wide as a 215 & if you go up to an 18" you must come down to a 35 series.

An 18" inch wheel in a 40 series will meet your load rating but will not meet the overall diameter requirements. This will throw your speedo out so is not good in many ways.

If annyone can prove me wrong & find a 215/35/18 tyre with at least an 87V load rating than let me know as would would consider buying a set straight away.

Having said that I bought myself a set of high quality Japanese forged rims in 17". They are very light & strong & suit the car without being overstated. I ride on 215/45/17 Bridgestone Potenze GIII, which are a great tyre but expensive. Worth it in the end though as they wear really well. One other thing, a 45 series tyre will scrub occasionally with a 35mm drop on standard shocks on rough roads such as the Nasho is in Sydney but otherwise they are an ideal tyre size, giving better comfort than a 40 series & filling the gap a little better.

You should also understand that if you were involved in an accident that was your fault With Illegal Wheels & Tyres's fitted to the car & an Insurance Investigator was to assess you vehicle you RUN THE RISK of VOIDING your policy as your car will not be road legal. Imagine having to cover the cost of the damage to your vehicle & anything else you may have hit. this has happened to people I know so I speak from experinece.

  4. hey guys....

im fairly new to this forum though iv noticed some of you guys are pretty cluey when it comes to stivo's.

i recently bought an 05 stivo and put it on 18 inch Apec Attack wheels. they fit on great... except when i was driving to work this morning i noticed that the steering wheel was kinda shaky when doing 100-110km/h

i havnt had the new wheels wheel alligned because im having it dropped at pedders on the weekend and they wheel align after lowering.

do you think the wheel allignment is my problem or is it something else???

    the wheel specs are 215/35/R18

Wheel Alignment has nothing to do with Steering Shake. Wheel alignment only controls what direction your car will travel in, preferably a straight line. A car with bad alignment will pull either left or right when travelling a long a level straight road at a constant speed.

An unbalanced wheel will also shake the steering wheel. Try getting your wheels re-balanced first. Shouldn't cost more than $30.

More than likely the steering shake is caused by not have Hub Locating Rings as you insatalled the wheels yourself. Any good tyre shop will have heaps of various sizes availabe if your wheels didn't have them included. It will just be matter of trying each size until the correct size is found. If the Tyre shop you go to doesn't know what you're talking about than they do not know what they are talking about so find another shop.

Also I'm glad to hear your getting your car lowered by suspension professionals & that they are doing the wheel alignment. Tyre shops don't know S#$T when it comes to doing a proper alignment & camber adjustment.

Anyway, good luck, I'm sure the problem is an easy fix. :D :D

Sorry one other thing, are you aware that your tyres will probably be illegal, in NSW anyway as 215/35/18 will not meet the required load rating for the Corolla, which is 87V, refer to label on inside of Glovebox. It is very common for people to be defected for this small over sight. If you are not sure the load rating is printed on the sidewall of the tyre.

  5. You buggers!!! I lost you cos as we turned into the park a cop pulled in behind me so i had to do 60 for a fair bit untill i pulled over and he went on by! I think he spotted us pull into the park and followed us in.

It was freaky! cos i didnt know if he was gonna do anything! Did any of you meet up with him?

I decided to turn around as i thought there were more! Hope this guy never nabbed any of you! Cos you guys were screamin!

Hey glad to hear you are alright, we all got a bit worried. We didn't see one cop & we had no traffic on the way down. We all took it pretty easy anyway. The Nasho is a good drive even when your crusin'. Anyway its shame you missed put, maybe next time.

By the way, your car is looking & sounding great.

See you at the next meet. :D :D

  6. When you say you've saved up a fair amount:

Take into account all the things northy mentioned -> then add another $3k for incidentals and maybe $5k for good measure.

    You might be close...

As Northy pointed out NO one in aus. is yet to turbo / supercharge a 2zzge (that I'm aware of)

Companies in the US have but they are expensive - there's a turbo charged 2zzge MR-S in the US....

If you want an IDEA what I'm planning for a turbo 1zzfe (All inclusive not just a nice polite bolt on) that will run in the order of $15k + just for parts - not parts and labor...

PM me or search 'turbo 1zzfe' or forced induction in general.

Either way - don't be disauded from doing it - by all means if you have cash to splash DO IT... be the first in Aus :)

There are at least two turbo 2ZZGE's that I know of in the country, both Celica's that have been featured in Australian magazine's on several occasions. One has the plates "PETIR" & one that was owned by a 1st grade ARL player, can't think of his name.

Anyway check BLITZ USA website to see there supercharged Celica, bloody awesome. :D :D

  7. I've had the same problem of steering wheel shake for quite some time, only happens at exactly 110KPH. I saw this post & followed the same advise about getting my front disk machined. After getting the car back I feel they are actually a little worse. Has anyone got any other suggestions, & yes I have also had my wheels re-balanced, although I didn't change my brake pads, maybe this is the cause, I don't know.

Hello All, sorry I had to bail on the cruise last night, did everyone make it to Bondi?

I see a lot of talk of a more regular meet, I think this would be great. What about every 2nd Saturday night. Doesn't have to be anything big, just get together & talk s**t. Who's up for it.

Yup sounds good too me!!!! I'm in for sure!!!!

We should meet up in the day so we can get some decent photo's to post, maybe for a cruise down to Wollongong or something, could take the nasho road again

  9. xGSiR dude u should have asked me to take u for a spin cauz i knw uve been wanting a ride in a stivo ....

Ahhh damn, which cars was yours? I was a bit hesitant to ask the sportivo owners because i didn't really want to interupt any discussion going on and stuff with fellow members.

Also guys, do the 03-04 prefacelift sportivo models have tape + cd on their stock decks?? Because black-rolla's prefacelift sportvio had tape & cd on his stock deck.

I noticed evl_50a's 05 sportivo only had a stock CD deck.

Mine was the blue stivo with the ATOC URL stuck on the side skirts and the rear windscreen with the black rims ..... i turned up a little late about 930 ish .....

and yes the stivo's have a CD + tape as stock.
