  1. i know this is a stupid question but i gotta ask. if i was to get headers. lets say TRD or any other brand will they bolt straight onto my stocky exhaust or will i have to redo the whole system at the same time. cause im thinking of buying headers now and doing the exhaust from CES when i drive upto QLD soon. i know they post there exhaust but id rather have them put it on and im goin to QLD for family. thanks

the majority of headers will bolt up to stock system but some of the US ones wont as they require removing the mid section and cat convertor and relocating the cat. If you are coming up to Qld and are going to get CES to do your cat back then ask and see if they will do a deal on both the cat back and the headers as it is easy to do when the exhaust is off the car.

As for weapon R headers they showed dyno sheets of their "race" headers making gains as well but when independently tested nobody really got the same results.....

Yeah the Weapon R street headers are a unique design, like you silvabullit I question if they actually perform.

Are our stock headers are 4-2-1? They look like 4-1.

  2. Well I was looking for more headers and found that Weapon R has released a new STREET header for the 2zz, which actually gives very good gains.

I have also attached a dyno sheet, it shows a healthy increase in the midrange. Do not mistake this for the Weapon R Race headers which have been shown to lose top end power. I got this from newcelica.org, everyone there was quite skeptical, but a customer car was dynoed and proven gains seen. The dyno shows only up to 7800rpm, but this is due to the test celica car being rev limited. Different year model celicas in the US have differnt rev limits, like in AUS. I would like to see an independent dyno done not one done by Weapon R, just to make 100% sure that this actually works unlike their crappy race header.

This header is also on special for US$175 plus shipping might be just over US$300. Damn looks pretty bang for buck.

  3. Well I have a unichip in my car and I must say its one of the best mods. However I did get the unichip at a really good price.

My car was tuned at AUTOTECH ENGINEERING and achieved 112kw atw, ignoring the outright power my torque curve had shifted back and increased. I compared my graph with others with the unichip, and my torque curve was exactly the same. Outright power is not everything, the MPH on the 1/4 mile is what matters. I have seen so many people claiming they have this much kws atw and not being able to pull a MPH to match.

Now that I have finished uni I will be heading down to WSID with my mates to see what MPH I can pull.

  4. Well people I drove the car today, and their is no sign of a decrease in performance. I put my hand on the pod and you can still feel a nice healthy flow of air.

Like I said previously I rather my filter stay dry, then be soaked. The hydroshield beads water off, I have tested it myself. I will repeat myself, I did not buy this to prevent hydrolocking, but to keep my filter dry.

  5. what a waste of time and money, Injen has you lot sucked in bigtime. You dont need this or any other anti water/hydrolock device. Even on a car with superlow springs60mm+ drop you would have to drive through 30-40cm of water for it to even start to be an issue.....

Well everyone is entitled to an opinion Northy.

Like I said I got this for the fact that water gets sprayed onto my filter when it rains. I prefer my filter to be dry and not soaked. As my front foglight has been taken out, so there is a large opening for water.

For all the guys who asked, I got this off Ebay motors. Just search for it, should be roughly 40US landed, depending on exchange rate.

  6. average is usually between 580 n 620, i have a heavy foot too, but only use Premium 98ron, why does everyone uses this dodgy ethanol mix you get less k's, if u want economy use either standard unleaded 95ron or premium 98ron it makes a world of difference, when i 1st got my lil girl i did fuel tests to see what was better!

highway runs between Brisbane and the gold coast so i get even results i did this at night so i didn't cop traffic jams!

plus i spent the whole week running on the fuel i was going to use that week end so there would be a minimal amount of different fuel mixed together

    the results are this:

week 1 ethanol 91ron about 580k's not too bad :nono:

week 2 unleaded (no ethanol) 95ron about 650k's getting better :g:

    week 3 PREMIUM 98ron 730k's BOOYAH :yahoo:

i ran it from full tank to near empty but they are what my figures stand plus on the premium i decided to give her a fair bit on the way back, cause i had driven it like my grandad would on the other times and a dunnydore had to put the hammer down considering he was doing 90km'h in the the far overtaking lane. and i blew past him, :spiteful: i guess he didn't like the fact that a rolla over took him in a supposed non overtaking lane! and my lil girl is totally stock 02 rolla ascent sedan

Yes you do get less kms with E10, but if your car is tuned you will benefit. I now run my car with Shell V-Power Racing, it is quite expensive at $1.55 litre, but my car runs sweet with it. My car is tuned with a UNICHIP for 98 octane, but I have found the fuel quality varies from station to station. Somedays my car performed crap and other days it was fine. Since using 100ron, I have not experienced the problem. The 2 extra ron is a safety margin.

  7. This just arrived for me in the mail. Its an INJEN HydroShield, just some extra protection with CAI when it rains. I have taken my passenger foglight out recently and noticed the K&N filter gets wet in heavy rain.

The Hydroshield does not affect performance, and I also put my hand inside and ran a tap over it and my hand is still dry. Awesome product

  8. If you measured at the flange on the axle back the pipe diameter(inside and outside) actually does decrease a bit when it gets to the flange itself. don't ask me why but that's how toyota made it LOL.

Yeah I did notice thta silva. I was reading up on exhaust theory, they do this to speed up the gases exiting.

I will let everyone know when I get my 2.5 inch catback remade, I am changing from resonator back to 2.36 inch to suit my new muffler and see how i go with this. Shouldnt cost too much I hope.

  9. the internal diameter of what section of the tube?

You do know that tube is measured by the external diameter and pipe measure on the internal diameter right?

Sorry guys I didnt know inner and outer. Rollamods, I measured from the flange on the axleback.

    Inner diameter (pipe) is 2inches

External diameter (tube) is 2.25 inches

Im a little confused now, so if I go to a shop and say I want a 2.5 inch system, that is ther internal diameter???

  10. This is a hot topic and from what I have read, the information on the forum is wrong.

Everyone is quick to say the stock sportivo exhaust pipe is 2.25 inches. But have any of you actually took the time to measured it.

Well I did today, and the stock pipe size is 2 inches YES 2 inches. If you dont believe me, go measure it your self.

I am not wrong, as I have one in my garage.

  11. is your exhaust flanged before the torsion beam?

If so, get a new piece made from the flange back.

For the reduction in diameter, it's very easy for any fabricator to make a nice 75>60mm reducer. Do not just weld a 2.5" pipe to the muffler if it's not 2.5" at the inlet. Steps like that in the exhaust are no good.

Yes mine is flanged after the torsion beam. I will most likey be doing what you have said.

The reason why I was looking at replacing the pipe from resonator back is, I have slightly dented two section of the exhaust pipe (after the resonator), will this be hindering performance dramatically? The dents are not large but they are still noticable upon inspection and when touched.

  12. Hi fellow members,

I am currently running a 2.5inch catback system into a 2.5 inch twin loop muffler. I have just ordered a Apexi WS2 muffler and the inlet is 60mm or 2.36 inch.

    I have 2 options:

    1. Chop my twinloop off and weld the WS2 on, using a reducer (2.5 inch --> 2.36 inch) or

    2. Have new piping made from the resonator back to the new muffler (resonator output 2.5 inch --> new piping into WS2 2.36 inch)

I am leaning towards option 2, as all reputable japanese catback systems run a 2.36 inch or 60mm size pipe. But I would like the opinion of others with knowledge in this area.

My current mods are I/E and UNICHIP. I will also get my headers ported after new years.

  13. Ive decided to go plain n simple :P

    469c_1.JPG

on 215-45-17 .. =/ im not sure.. will it fit a white hatchback rolla? will it hit the gutter if i lower the car on low? or superlow?

cos the other set the seller provides does not comply with the load rating..i think its just 84..but for this 215-45-17 its 88

Those rims will look very nice on a rolla. Make sure you have the right offset and if you lower the car, the tyres will scrub with that 45 profile.
