  1. Cheers guys, thx for the feedback.
  2. Tony sounds like you got a few more km's out of your tyres than mine. Admittedly theydifnt get rotated in the last 15 months. Also sounds like you ate in the same market as me and getting similar pricing. I am a few weeks off purchasing so if you happen to do it before me would appreciate a post on price and your thoughts on performance once they are on tbs car. You would have thought more KXR owners would have replaced and had a story to tell on their research and findings?! Thx

  4. I normally run 36 psi all round and get general overall wear. I'll give that a shot and see how it changes. Thx
  5. No off road just to school, the shops and an occasional trip down the highway to wine country. I would like to sharpen up it's cornering ability though as it is a bit spongy on the turns with the current Dunlops. Thx for the feedback.
  6. I am currently in the market to replace my worn 37000 km Dunlop 245/65/17 tyres. Any other more suggestions? All the same size, i have looked at; Cooper CTS for $365 (70000 warranty ) Bridgestone D683 for $279 Kuhmo for $313 and Maxxis ht750 for $265 Price, noise and wear are probably the main considerations. Any suggestions or recommendations based on your replacement experiences. Thx
  7. I am with you on the stereo but not game yet to tamper with the car to put a new one in. I think the bigger issue is the speakers. I know there are none (or mine are not working) in the rear cargo area. Cant seem to find in the book how many speakers are in the KX-R but it needs more!!!!!. Congrats to all new Kluger owners :D Hi check out one of previous posts on changing the car stereo. I have a KXR but bought the 6 stacker off ebay for $400. Love the unit, but the fitting left many scars on the dash, so beware !
  8. The only one that came close IMO was the Mazda CX9. I drove and compared them back to back one day. The Mazda CX-9 was like an Armani suit, not really comfortable but looked great and went really well, but cost a bit more to buy and to run. On the other hand, the Kluger felt like my favourite pair of jeans, comfortable, well priced and (apparently) the cheapest to run at 11 L per 100km. The Tribeca is a bit small in the third row and pretty hefty on the price tag, but interior finish was very contemporary. The Territory was showing it's age and apparently very thirsty. The Captiva looked like good value for money, but it's a Daewoo and a bit of an unknown. The Kluger could do with a split fold 3rd row and a smidge more space when the third row is up but as far the rest, it was the best all round package for our family. And the drive, it is just fantastic. On the open road it is even better, the faster it goes, the better it feels.
  9. I intentionally went for the KX-R because although I would have liked leather seats, the only colour the KX-S interior comes in is ALL BLACK. On two seperate occasions, the wife and kids jumped into a Kluger that had been sitting in the sun and complained about burning their legs on the hot seats. That was the end of the consideration for me. I have the light grey interior and that looks much nicer than the all black of the KX-S (to me anyway). And, as much as I loved the look of the KX-S wheels, I don't love the price per tyre to replace them $500-$600. I did however buy the KX-S 6 stacker with bluetooth, which i got for $400 on ebay. It is worth every penny just for the convenience of the bluetooth through the car speakers. The fitting caused a few scars around the dash so be aware of that, but still happy I did it.
  10. No matter what CD or MP3 disc I have in the car, my wife insists on listening to the bloody radio. Go figure. Can't see the sense in spending money on a decent stereo as a result. She makes me listen to the radio when she's driving, so I make her listen to my Jack Johnson albums when I'm driving. :) Haha, make sense. :) Im wondering if Im being too fussy with the car stereo, perhaps I should leave it well enough alone.. but then... I think of the AWESOME stereo's you can get these days with built in Bluetooth and a stack of other features, for around $300. I have a KX-R but I bought 6 stacker bluetooth unit (KX-S headunit) from a guy who had just taken his out of his new Landcruiser (and put in a Grande style touch screen unit). I just lucked it on e-bay must have meant to be! Cost me $380 & $25 postage. Anyway, the unit is excellent and the bluetooth feature is the best and will hopefully stop my wife getting a ticket for using her phone whilst driving. I can thoroughly recommend the unit if only for that integrated bluetooth feature. I have a portable handsfree unit, but they need charging, this works much better and the audio through the car speakers is great. I suffered some damage when the dealer fitted it (refer other post about replacing dash) but it was still worth it I think. If it got fitted with some care shouldn't be any issue. Beware the cheap 8 in 1 touch screen units on e-bay as my local aftermarket dealer said he had a customer buy one from overseas and come to them for fitting, but it didn't live up to expectations and they couldn't get it to work properly. Of course he had no recourse.
  11. I had the dash repaired, well most of it. They replaced the 2 main parts, but didn't replace another 3. I sent an email photo which clearly circled the damage, but that had obviously been ignored. In the end, I've given it away as a bad joke and will live with the marks, seeing as I have to drive 260km (round trip) and take a day off to get the work done. However, I am happy to report that I experienced NO rattles or noises on the drive home, other than the sweet purr of the motor as I cruised along the highway. It is truly a delightful vehicle to drive, especially on the open road.
  12. I have a KX-R but I bought the 6 stacker bluetooth unit which the dealer fitted prior to delivery. Unfortunately, they had issues fitting it, which left the dash with about 10 marks including 1 significant cut on the top of the dash. All up I think 5 dash pieces need replacing including the whole top of the dash and stereo surrounds. The parts have arrived from Japan, but now I'm not sure I want to replace them, for fear of problematic noises and squeeks from the new parts. Any knowledge or experience with this type of issues. Am I worrying over nothing and the parts will fit fine without any annoying noises? I just think it's a bit of a gamble really. Any comments appreciated.
