  1. Blackkluger, Mine are totally centred and I'm very happy with them. But the first pair fitted upon the vehicle delivery to me had a fault in them that I noticed 20 mins after pickup. As I was only 2 ks away I drove back to the dealer and they agreed/apologised and placed an order for a replacement. The fleet mgr even offerred his own dealership car for the day that replacements would be fitted. The problem whilst not the same as yours, but worth noting for ALL GEN KLUGER SIDE STEP OWNERS. The black rubber step inserts that slot into/on the chrome tube have two thin ramset style pins that lock them in. One at the front and one at the rear of the moulded insert. On mine the rear pin on both front driver and front passenger side were sitting freely and the insert was not tightly pinned down even when pressed. It could be lifted enable debri to get in and it could trip you on the front of your shoe. The replacements were fine. Now if the car was out of warranty and they lifted. 5min Selleys Araldite would fix it quite easy.
  2. Beezza76, My build is August 07 The dash rattles I had are covered in a couple of lengthly posts including the resolution on recent pages. My dealer Jacobs Toyota Wodonga logged the problem and solution to it on the Toyota internal portal site for other dealers to access. Your dealer could contact Adam from the service dept of the above dealer for the solution first hand. But I believe your dealer accessing the internal website is more the appropiate way to the cure that caused my problem. That mentioned side panel was a prob for me too until I kicked it. Hope your rattle is found soon, as it can P**s one of totally.

  4. Climate Change will fix that small prob. ;) :)
  5. My neighbour has the first gen model but new in mid 07 and has never/discussed a problem like that. For that matter he has no problems with it full stop. He just just loves his as much as I do with mine. Both AWD's Edit, chap at work has the first gen model too and just took it around tassie in May. He was over the moon with the experience, both with the kluger and with tassie.
  6. Well I've had me beast since Nov 07. This morning I dropped my daughter and friend off at school for an early morning departure to Melb. The 15yr olds needed light for last minute makeup and prettieness checks and the makeup mirror was already working overtime. With the interior front cabin light I've only ever used the toggle switch either way to engage them. Well, we found the actual lights themselves are spring loaded in there flush sockets. Press it softly and that light only will come on. Yep, only a small thing and probably already known about by most here, but I didn't. I really must read that manual as I only found out how the 2 sec anit rollback worked the other week.
  7. PaulG, Looks totally great, I find the location is a bit hidden behind the steering wheel visually. But it's never turned off in my case and not a button that gets used much, so it's really the most appropiate spot. If I have an opportunity to engage high beam, then I want the spotties on as well. Especially seeing I'm a country driver. Always wondered what my second large blank button would have done, now I know.
  8. Yep, had a sizable stone wack my windscreen so hard I sh*t myself, from a semi trailer late yesterday near Elmore up from Bendigo. It hit 3 to 4 inches above the dash windscreen union and almost in the middle. It done a cracker of a Bullseye and I stopped in anticipation of a dent in the roof or some damage near me spot lights etc, seeing the wack was so hard. Ran me finger over the screen and nearly cut me self, then applied windscreen saver patches. Lucky, early this morning Novus was able to repair it, although it's not a perfect repair. Looks like there a small splattered bug were it was repaired. But it's not in the line of vision. Plus I didn't really want it replaced as I have all that anti dash rattle stuff in the inside and outside of the lower parts of the windscreen to correct that previously posted rattle issue I had. Guess with the angled rake of the windscreen along with it's toughness, she held up quite well.
  9. Thanks guys for the feedback, it's much appreciated and now I have no hesitation in getting apair once I proceed with a tent purchase.
  10. Do they make colors other than Tidal Blue??? <_<
  11. Great Job there PaulG. It certainly looks the goods. I believe the Nudge Bar and a pair of chrome spotties along with the frontal design of the Kluger LOOKS HOT. Below is my beast with the compact chrome Hella Rally FF 4000, driver side is a pencil and the passenger side is a wide. I'm partial at this stage not to do mods whilsts its on a novated lease. So my local Toyota Dealer did the work. They light up the road very well IMO. EDIT: that not condensation in the lights, just the flash was used.
  12. BK, Small pain knowing it helps to stop the Waeco and slab of Crownies from sliding around. :) :)
  13. Thanks PaulG for the heads up on this one. I too would be annoyed with myself and tha mat if it tore. I've never given it a thought that it could tear, it seams too rugged in construction to tear. But now looking within the seat belt split slot of the mat. I can see how the situation that arose with yours. Again, thanks for the sharing of knowledge in this forum which helps us all.
  14. I'm interest to purchase a pair, but not desperate to jump into a purchase just now. Maybe be If read me 4X4 mags and BCF Catalogues again over a few beers. I could just wake up one morning and purchase that OZ tent on the spur of moment that I've been eying of. There awning attaches to the rear of a 4X4 tailgate if one wants to. For a Saturday overnighter in the mountains near where I live. Could be some fun for the misses and I provided the kids don't Corey our house. But a instant erect OZ tent requires roof racks due to its rigged length. SO finally me question, If any has one, do the genuine Toyota racks create wind noise whilst theres nothing attached to them at highway speed. I used to have a Mobile antenna once that whistled often and became down right bad for noise in foggy conditions on a Commodore.
  15. Humm, I thought to me self, I'm sure I got a Kluger and a blue one at that. Me thinks tonite when I have me sleep walk at 3.00am'ish after tooo many Crownies tonight. If I open the wrong door in me dinning room and enter the house garage, I may see a red Mustang convertible. But If me sleep walk is at 5.00am and I'm sobbered up, I should see me blue Kluger. RR, you have our attention Buddy and we hear you loud and clear. THE KLUGERS A GEM, especially without the dash rattles.
  16. Jeps, don't we just love our beasts to the MAX. I've a new commodore sitting at home that I'm baby sitting for reasons to complicated to touch on here. After sitting in it and moving it, it's just a Go Kart in comparision and those side mirrors that are no bigger than the Mary Kay ones my wife has in her handbag. Just so glad I got out out of Commodores last Nov.
  17. Yep, understand the message, BUT. I live on the out skirts of our country town on the side a mountain (well a big hill) and da bugger me. There've had the mini booze bus up in our little humble street on several occassions last summer and the yr before.:( :( Best I wait untill I get home. Especially when the boat & two wheel license is at risk along way. Next time I'll just get five. :)
  18. BK, is that totally fully maintained, petrol + on A/L and just everthing included full stop. I'm novated too via salary sac pre tax and took it on 5yrs to capture the petrol rises and major services and just interest to know, I'm happy to PM my details too.
  19. This evening I went down to the local for a 6pk Of Crownies, only a short trip. The 6pk was placed on the front passenger seat. After turning out of the bottleshop drivway. I heard the warning passenger seat belt chime twice. Thought to me self, ha what tha. Then further down the road the chime went off again with about two chimes. Then it dawned on me that the seat must have a weight sensor in it to make the chime go of when not buckled. So with me left hand I pressed down on the 6pk and yep, a constant chime was heard. Taken since Nov 07 to work that one out. The LED beam that shines down on the console took me two months to find out. As I usually have a beer after work (.05) and didn't drive at night during daylight savings.
  20. Andrew, I've posted my signature pic larger so you can see what I tow. The first picture is at Metung Vic, the boat was towed over the Vic Alpines via Mt Hotham and its just a breeze with the AWD traction and Kluger's size. The second is from Dartmouth Vic Apline region last Tuesday. I've towed owned a 5.5mtr glass boat, along with the current boat with new Falcons and Commodores. I've only recently sold the 16ft Jayco pop top, which was towed with a new Commodore prior to the Kluger. With my Commodore you always knew you were towing and vehicle had movement during irregular roads or sweeping bends. Wheel spin until T/control left you with no power at boat ramps and on the road whilst entering from gravel rds to sealed rds. The Commodore did the job though on sealed surfaces. One day (Aug 07) I was on a ramp and the concrete was just out of the water which left me being cautious with the commodore. Then a ford Territory just backed down with 5mtr+ Quintrex and flicked his trailer of the ramp side and launched in the thick sand and then parked the Territory and trailer on the sand at the waters edge. That was it, I went home and said to my misses I needed a 4X4 or a largish AWD. The rest is history. The Kluger is stable towing, heaps and heaps of grunt, the manual transmission is there If you require. But I really don't need to use it, although I did use engine braking a little down hill after Mt Hotham heading to Harrietville. Maybe just for the fun of it. The brakes are just super ample for stopping and for normal local trips I don't engage the trailer brakes. Economy is always gona be worse towing, as it was with the commodore. It really depends on the terain, ie flat highway or a few hills etc. But in the mid 16ltrs is about normal. Maybe a little higher in the alpine Mt Hotham/Dartmouth region. But I don't pay for petrol anywhere or anytime, it's in my Salary package IN SHORT IT"S JUST FANTASTIC and I feel a lot safer on the road knowing all the safety gear built into the Kluger + big wide tyres + AWD + the size of the vehicles foot print. Never go back to 2WD as tow car again. I can now launch anywhere on The Hume Weir at any water level as I can launch of the sand or compacted mud sides and leave my rig parked of the waters edges. If it rains or drizzles while I'm out on the water. I've a far better chance of recovering the boat and hauling myself up the weir sides than I ever had with the Commodore. It will do your boat just fine with its 2000 capacity. You will love it for towing your nice Quintrex rig you've spoken about. I really don't think your boat fuelled up and full of camping gear and several slabs on board would come anywhere near the towing capacity. I would think maybe you would have 400 up your sleeve PS; The AWD doesn't have the steering torque that ones experiences on the 2Wd Kluger. Incase the dealer gives a test in a 2WD vesrion.
  21. FINAL UPDATE re this subject from me, Well 11 days have pasted and I've travelled quite a few hundred kms, involving work and rec. I've towed the boat up to Dartmouth Dam in the mountains and during a rather chilling early morning departure. Also another trip towing the boat to the Hume Weir. These two trips on the roads travelled together with the boat attached acting as a catalyst towards exposing any rattles. and Still no rattles at all anywhere to be heard. So if your kluger starts showing signs of any. Ask your dealer to check that whole with plastic area under the wipers as discussed earlier in my posts on this subject.
  22. Thanks, Blackkluger. Knew it had hill start but had never worked it out. Last Friday I was being given the grand look over of the latest Landcruiser. The dealer sales mgr explained to me the method re how it worked. No I'm not buying or even interested in one. He was visiting my place of work with one, so I had to have decent look over it. Now back to the orig post subject I guess.
  23. The gen Kluger rubber mat cost us $85 + 8.50 gst. It's the best access I brought and fits the rear area like a glove. Whilst being thick, tough and provides heaps of antislip.
  24. Re 10,000k service, My 10,000 k service showed a few subtotals that didn't make sense. Then some scribble and the words Toyota advantage. The invoice would then be electronically delivered to my fleet people, but I know Customfleet would factor the advantage plan into the salary pricing and check the invoice. My handbrake was not holding and I asked for an adjustment at 1000k and it was. But I forgot to re ask at the 10000k service for a top up adjustment, as the the dash rattles were my priority. I tow a boat and usually launch on quite steep inclines. The hand brake IMO do not hold the rig and there is vehicle movement even after the adjustment. Paying for the adjustment is a warranty situation at such an early stage of the vehicles life. My previous Commoders held it far better re the hand brake. Guess I hope to never have to find out if it really does hold. Just need to make sure no one else is the car upon a launch and recovery.
