hey all, if you remember a while back i send a post out asking about a mates car that was a 94 Corolla Ae102. anyway i managed to get the results and thought id let you all know what the story was for the people who were wanting to find out :D There was a few problems with the car. listed are the following: *one type had a broken valve on it. so the tyre kept going flat causing the car to not drive smoothly *the pistons in the engine were damaged. *the engines getting old and has done nearly 300,000km. So its simply cos its getting old. *their was a problem with the air intake box thing. Apparently there was an issue with it causing not alot of air to flow through. All the issues were fixed. but the car still apparently seems slow compared to mine and i think thats simply cos he mistreats his one and the engines just getting too old. so yeah....there you have it ;)

I take it ur car is an auto like mine. :D but mines a 1.8 if u hold the accelerator down the revs do need to drop when it gets into the other gears. The car is a 4 speed auto for these models. So if u hold ur foot on the accelerator from 0-something fast. You should only notice that it will happen 4 times. But i wouldn't encourage speeding. <_< I dont know what u mean by shuttering though. Does it only make the sound when u let go of the accelorator?? OH YEAH TELL ME THIS ARE U DRIVING WITH THE OVERDRIVE ON OR OFF???? as for the screeching id get a mechanic to check the brake disk, brakes, rotors and also see if there is alot of dirty and crap with the wheel. There might be that powdered oil thats making a noise like that against the wheel and the brake disk. There is obviously something wrong around that area......

Okay sounds reasonable...how much should i be looking to spend? Ur right about handling cos when i turn onto the freeway to and from work the car does lean a bit. Remember the rear side of the car sliding offset on me on a rainy day simply around a round about :o lmao never treated my car to all those things hahaha, ill look into it first though as its my first car. wouldn't want to stuff it up :P just out of curiosity how much should one of these K&N air filter panels cost me anyway. Called auto barn today and they said $99 is that right? I was surprised that something so simple would cost that much. If that is the case u'd bloddy hope $99 bucks did something to the car.

hahahaha.... i dont have a need 2 be speeding. Just for better airflow and engine response. I take it u were looking at a old post i did :P friend that had the issue with his car is getting his car back tonight. So i havent asked him what the cause for that was. But i'll try to make a post regarding that when i find out. I was just wondering if getting a K&N air panel filter will do anything at all? or am i best to stick to the stock air filter panel? Like some people say they notice a difference....some people say they didnt notice a change at all. I was hoping to get an answer from some fellow rolla owners :D

that mate is very nice. I love the visual u did there for the engine bay. I noticed that the engines looked very simular to mine (except mines stock ) lol What did u do to the engine?

okay people ive decided not to bother with this thread anymore. obviously this isn't helping!! So People don't bother replying its not my car and not my issue. So im going to let him figure the the issue out himself when he goes to a mechanic. hes probably ****** up his car and it isnt reparable i bet. for those who want to know what ends up happening later on i will make a new thread to let you all know.

wow wow wow mates calm down dam.. i need to be really specific here with u people. But the bloke does speed i'll admit 2 that. Anyway i cant be questioned by cops as i saw it on a dyno. believe me stock car on a dyno is stupid. But yeah he did it. the blokes fairly young so yeah. noo wonder why an idiot would put a stock car on a dyno. anyway maybe its best to just drop this topic if people are going to fire up @ me. its not like as though ive done anything illegal or anything. i was just curious if hes stuffed up his engine and has to buy a new car or something. or if it is repairable

My cars done 500km/hr, which is true because I told you about it People exaggerate when it comes to speeding, especially males around the age I believe you are. I got my parents '94 Corolla up to about 140 and that was almost pushing it - it maybe had another twenty kms out of it before it would have exploded. Your gear ratio's are fixed - if your engine is doing 6000rpm @ 180km/hr, then it's ALWAYS going to be doing 180km/hr at that revs. lol okay...fine how about it i told u i saw it myself hit 190km/h

well the car just got serviced plus it it had to get a manifold replaced with a genuine one from Toyota. And yeah the car has hit 190km/h cos he was telling me about it probably about a month ago. im just really curious cos his car is only is a year older than mine and its also the the same engine and is a AE102 model as well

lmao yeah im surprised 2.....like i said its not mine. just doing a favor for a mate by asking if anyone might know. But if the engine was able to do 190 without a problem just about a month ago. but now wont? any ideas on what areas in the engine that might be worn out and needs replacing like pistons or exhaust or something?

hey everyone i got a mate who does racing. He has a simular model to mine. hes got a AE102. His speedo can do 200km/h. But the fastest hes done is 190km/h cos he didnt want to break the engine. anywho its now at the stage that it gets to 180km/h in his corolla and it now wont go any further. We had a look at it and u can feel the exhaust rattling a little from the drivers seat. Its like as though its pushing as hard as it can. The speedo is going at 180km/h and the taco meter is doing 6000rpm. which is just on the red line. which can be pushed probably further into 8000rpm. But there is no way in hell were going to try making it worse. But long story short it was able to get to 190km without hitting 6,000rpm. any idea what can be causing this to happen to his car? its completely stock like mine i think the stock exaught might need to be cleaned through. Its a 95 model corolla. mines a 96 model corolla....so its not me if anyones asking :P Anything ideas as to what can be restraining the cars engine. its done 25,800km on the engine. ITS A 1.8L 7AFE like mine
