  1. been having some problem with the transmission in my aurion

has anyone had any probs with the auto slipping when changing gears?

getting the ocassional slip when changing from 2nd to 3rd and also give a rather abrupt thump sometimes when kicking down from 3rd or 4th to 2nd or 3 rd respectivly.had toyota check it out but nothing found .woulnd play up while they had it.

    FAT

I just got back from a driving holiday up the coast and did find that some times when changing down if your pushing it hard You will get a thump.. I think it's the norm with sequentials cause my mate who was with me has the same thing happen to him in his Mitsibishi's sequential.. When i am driving sensibly though it is smooth as.. Taking mine for a service and am mates witht he service manager will ask him if knows for sure what it is!!

  2. Hey guys, thanks to 'TRD Aurion Owners' advice i took my car to pipewerx this morning now we sound the same :D

I got dual SuperCat resinators in replace of the rear mufflers. it cost $420 inc. tips and installation and it sounds absolutly brilliant i couldnt be happier with it. I didnt want cannon style mufflers and i didnt want anything too load. These have a great sound with no raspiness and best of all its quiet on the hiway B)

    heres some pic's guys

Congratulations mate looks fantastic. Where in Brissy is Pipeworx? wouldn't mind going in and having a chat to them.. Also how much did you find the fuel economy changed when you completed the mod??

  3. Got bored this morning....did a little photoshop on an Aurion bum.

Note: tinted tailights, debadged, Custom TRD/Toyota badge, quad exhaust & lower bumper reflectors removed.

My plans - all of the above! Already debadged, working in the Custom badge, searching for quad exhaust (small cut out on the rear bar so has to be small tips), tint for tail lights will come. Reflectors wont happen.

    No stealing my ideas!

    aurionbumchopped.jpg

Apart from having the Quad Exhaust, There's nothin we're similar in our interest..

The fact u uploaded this means 'Some1 PLZ steal my idea'. :P

I reckon the quad should not be too small..If it doesnt fit, that means u just need to cut till there's a space.. :D

Man...U're pretty good @ photoshop, You should do us some favor sometime when u're free.. Sharing the ideas..:P

Agreed I think everything on the ***** is perfect.. But a quad exhaust would look nice

  4. Hi guys....

been watching the aurion topic for a while now... and your guys rides just get better and better everyday :)

oh well, some of you guys may know... the aurion in asian country are known as their camry...

i made this topic just to post some nice aurion pics that u found :)

come on guys.. post it here, just to share the nice ideas around :)

theres some pics... so post the pics that u see anywhere guys... net or anywhere... :P

Love the Mags :D never use to like anything over 5 spokes but are really growing on me. Don't know about the grill though <_<

hahahha... yeah... those peoples are hardcores on spending on wheels... LOL... regularly, they spend on equivalent to 3 grand aussie bucks for their wheels T_T... but u can find dodgy, cheap , replica wheels too LOL.....

yeah... the grilll.... i know what you mean... these peoples always take the aurion as a luxury car... so they always want it to be as elegant as possible... T_T... but honestly... i dont really like the grill too.. but the rest is ok LOL

I can't understand why? Wasn't the whole reason for bringing the Aurion to australia so as to compete in the XR6/ SV6 market and promote that Toyota are still creating good performance vehicles.. Anyway each to their own, I personally think a nice mesh grill like JIN just got, with those mags would look stunning..

  6. the new grill looks great :D :D :D

    HaHa Thanks.

    Yeah it really does.

    I really love it!

    :yahoo:

Should I paint it in ink black? or just leave it like that?

I think you should leave it like that. It matches matt black piece in the centre of the bumper =D

Agreed leave it that colour and see how you go getting a TRD badge.. Would look hot as!!!

  7. Need some help. I purchased a pair of Boston Acoustic 6x9's S953 for the front of the car, however after pulling the panels off I find that its going to be a very tight fit even with a baffle. The speakers midrange and tweeter stick out of the woofer making the overall depth about 11cms. The distance from the glass to the speaker cover on the door panel is only about 5mm bigger, if that.

Im thinking of installing these speakers in the rear, and purchasing some MB Quart entry level 6x9's for the front as they are about 9cm overall from bottom of magnet to top of speaker.

My question is, do you guys think the boston's would fit in the rear? Is the depth bigger in the back? I know you mentioned the springs in the back. If distance between the spring and the parcel shelf speaker cover is even 1cm bigger than the front, i should be able to fit them in.

    thanks.

Just refer to the query about the springs in the back. I just installed a set of MTX TDX6293 6x9's which have a massive magnet on them. Tried raising them but they wouldn't stay under the original trim. I took it to my mate who is a panel beater and he was able to place a bend in the brackets so it would clear the magnet. Easy solution!!!

  8. So i take it from the pics you drew your power from the light straight from the existing one???

Could you please take photos of you boot LED lights set up?

    Thanks...!

Nothing too it really, but here are some photos of how mine is set up. I didn't even cut the 2 metres of power cable that it came with. I just tucked it into one of the spaces there in the boot (you can see where in the fifth photo). All I needed was a couple of crimp connectors and a 1.5mm drill bit to drill two pilot holes for the screws. With 21 LED's that cover a good length of the boot, this is one useful light to have.

  9. Definatly have to agree with that been raining up here in brissy for days and as soon as you apply a bit of pressure at the it hopslike a bitch... Also traction control has been given a workout with the rain been testing it's limits a bit and it's not a bad system doesn't let you do anything to stupid which i guess froma saftey point of view is a very good thing... Also so true about the cops give them a traffic infringment and they will jump right on it ask them to investigate a otheft and it takes days to get a response and even then it'll just be a slip to say it happened and they don't have any evidence.. any way thats my bitch for this evening :( on a lighter note got a full take of fuel and going to try turning the traction tonight and lighting the tyres up :yahoo:

All i could get in the At-X was a small skid when i planted it till the traction control did it's thing. Then i tried to intentionally smoke them and as i said traction control came to the rescue.. Be interesting to see how long you could hold it for without out it.... Im guess a while

Road was very wet tonight, was going about 40km/h so i pushed the foot right down & it dropped back 2 gears, held wheel spin for about 5 seconds then shuddered & I let off the gas.

Speaking of yet weather, I'm always extremely conscious about accelerating in the wet with my Sportivo. The wheel hop on it is horrible.

  11. When it comes to the interior lights (dome, map, and door lights), I personally prefer white for functionality and cleanliness. If I want something more fancy and attention grabbing, I would add neons; my personal preference is blue. That's what I did in my old car. I was 18 at the time and it looked wicked. As well, I changed all my dash lights to blue LED's, but the Aurion already has a nice setup for that already.

Edit: I probably answered the wrong question there. If you are referring to the type of LED's, since you will be working with mostly T10 style, you should aim to get ones with as many LED's built into them as possible. I prefer the ones that consist of multiple surface mount (SMD) or high flux LED's. I usually get mine from eBay for convenience and for the selection. I would advise to steer away from Luxeon style ones (commonly described as 1Watt or greater LED's) as they have a tendency to burn out due to overheating.

Ok clarfication if i was to go on ebay a search like "T-10 style LED (RED)" would probebly get me a selection of what iam looking for. Sorry to sound lke a dumb ***** but I usually would just go to repco but they alreaduy gave me my marching orders :o To difficult to get!!!

  12. Anyone have any idea how to turn traction control off. Getting new Mags and want to at least wear a little out of the current tires just for ****s and giggles!!!

With the search parameters of "traction control", you will find this thread:

    Turning off TRC (Traction Control)

OK There is a trick too it. After much experimenting.

    To TURN OFF TRACTION CONTROL

The Procedure below MUST be completed quickly, less than 30 Secs from my testing.

    1. Make sure the car is in Park and the parking brake is disengaged before you start the car.

    2. Start the engine.

    3. Engage the parking brake.

    4. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

    5. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

    6. Disengage the parking brake.

    7. Fully depress and hold down the brake pedal.

    8. Engage the parking brake, then disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal).

    9. Engage the parking brake, then disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal).

    10. Release the brake pedal.

    11. Engage the parking brake.

    12. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

    13. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

    Good Luck & Drive Safely

    Derek

Thanks again DJKOR, Have never really used the inter-nerd to find out stuff about my car before!!!!

  13. i'm still thoroughly enjoying the power of my car... so after 1400kms, i still havent had a full tank of "normal" driving...

but in the days that i just drive to work and home in traffic, i've noticed the fuel consumption indicator showing roughly 11-11.6l/100km...

on average though, its sitting around 12.5-13l/100km...

i do have to say though....the trd is a REALLY thirsty car when you put your foot down... and yet really really fuel economical when you're just cruising around like a grandpa...

are the normal aurions like that as well?

Same with the normal Aurion mate!!! maybe not as bad as the TRD though :)

  14. Hiya guys , ive been reading this whole thread, as im bout to buy a ZR Aurion( i really want a TRD one but cant see the misses liking the added price.)

    Im not really worried bout the fuel usage,as i hav a ST184 celica with a 3SGTe in it , avgs bout 13-14 l/100kms, .

Is it fair to say that the Fuel Economy only gets better with driving and the kind of driving you do .?

Also is everyone happy with there Aurions.?, mates of mine all hav Falcons and holdens , and think im mad for getting "another Toyota"

But i think they are close to the best car for the money ,

Whats do u all think , sorry to hijack this thread, any extra info you can give me in regards to these cars would be helpful much so , as the salesman dont seem to know much

    Thanks guys

    ~Richie~

    EVL,

I was in the same boat was looking at the holdens and glanced at the fords ( never liked them to heavy on juice from some of my mates experiences). Ended up witht he Aurion and have not been happier I have managed to get the fuel consumption down to 10.8/100km and only have 30,000 on the ODO. Have also smoked most of the V6 versions of the holden and fords which always makes you happy :D Just drive sensibly and you won't be dissappointed with consumption.. drive fast and you'll be impressed with speed win win if you ask me!!! ;)

  15. CEO I am very envious.

On a slight tangent, has anyone else thought that the manual mode on the transmission is a bit of a disappointment because when you put in in 4, it is not like a true manual because it won't hold that gear. Instead you are simply limiting it to the 4 lowest gears. You can't try to change to a higher gear quicker.

Blinky I have never had this problem at all my mate has a magna sports that I found does exactly as you said hence i was hesitant in buying a car with a sequential but with the AurionI find it to be extremly responsive and it always goes to the gear i want it to....... Unless you are doing something really stupid like changing to first @ 100km/h

  16. Thanks for that DJKOR... didn't realise that it was that easy  .. One more question while we are on it coloured lights for the interior does anyone have fav's cause i tried a whole bucket of differnet types in my old car and just found they were way to dull!!! any suggestions???

  17. QUOTE (mrdau @ Jul 18 2008, 02:00 PM)

Sorry but it reminds me of a lime green milk shake yuk Inferno red is the way to go!!!

Did you mean Inferno or Wildfire? I'll take the benefit of the doubt and say you meant Wildfire. Why... because that colour rocks. LOL

Sorry mate i ment wildfire same as yours.... I heard it is no longer being produced? :o

  18. Hey guys,

Just got a new Aurion and have recently put NEONS through the interior. It looks great only problem is i had a thought of changing the interior light to match but it's got me stumped how to get to it. Looked in the manual but as usual no help there... Any idea's
