"was travelling at 100kmh through a sweeping, gravel left hand bend at Holden's Lang Lang Proving Ground"... "the all-wheel drive Grande was in a mild oversteer attitude, something not uncommon in any car through this particular bend at this speed"

"Testing ESP on gravel requires the driver to allow the vehicle to develop some attitude (or slip) in order to have the ESP do its thing. This is because ESP, or VDC in Toyota, is designed to intervene only when a system of sensors detect that the vehicle is developing such slip angles.

They also said many other car is substandard... Lexus LS, RX330, Audi A5/S5, Honda CR-V, Hyandai i30, Nissan X Trail, and Skoda Roomster.

A real fair comment came out of my mind... "why do you do a 100kmh long sweeper on the dirt in the first place?"

  2. Xenon should be safe, the washer is a total bull**** in my opinion because the ADR (australian design rule) require all new cars to have it. Not sure about the aftermarket change being legal or not. But the VicRoad roadworthy stated it has to be white or yellow, not blue. So anything over 5000K in rating is too white/blue in my book.

Ipod should be safe, unless it create a short circuit and kill your Sat Nav :dunno:

  3. BEWARE!

I don't think your dealer knows his stuff or being completely honest with you.

Xenon headlights are so different from halogens. as previously pointed out, they are different in discharging properties.

They are completely different in casing as well. So much so that the xenon conversion in headlights are not 100% perfect. They are simply a connector to the H4 plug that we use in the halogen lights, puttign the electricity to a ballast and discharge in the xenon bulb.

There is no official options in USA, Australia or NZ regarding that. So it is either the modification I stated above, or they just con you with a whiter halogen lights!

Yes the xenon should be whiter and brighter but neither of the above (xenon conversion or whiter halogen bulbs) will guarantee you to have a brighter headlights.

Also all new cars sold with xenon has to have a washer in the highlights in part of the australian design rules, so dealer doing that as a MODIFICATION, not OPTION. and not being an option,,, you will not get your money back when you sell your car.

    Just my 2cent.

ALSO EDIT: Xenon conversion is over $500, not couple of hundreds. The cheap xenon is worse than the stock lights I am sure. And I can get the top of range halogen light bulb like Polarg or PIAA for AUD$100 overseas.

  4. Sat Nav is Denso.

You cannot change the I agree screen,

But you can unplug the "blue" line at the back to disable the speed sensor, so it will stay on while driving. But later model like ours prob will continue when the GPS signal detects movements.

    No speed or altitude shown

There should be a new map coming soon, it works across the range of Toyota and Lexus and we will hear about it from other owners.

People in the US can get RCA input and there is a video button on the DVD but not sure if they are functional.

Still the sat nav is better than your 200$ GPS, because it is a much better receiver and update is 5 times faster than one college's top of the range tom tom. The best portable can only do 1 update per second.

All your thrustration towards the unit is software related, and I am sure there is upgrade for it... if they ever listen  .

  5. I am sure why the dealer is like that.

I think the  "Cruise range" is an estimate of the kilometer you can go on the amount of fuel divided by averaged fuel consumption over a long period of time.

I am getting 14L/100km and 450km is the distance I see every time I fueled up to full.

  6. Hmm that is not good. I have seen something in Asia (that is about 2 years ago)... one friend that fitted with parking sensors that have display like a jet pilot type display.

4 corners like the silver one... with a black background and colour LED lights... and it tell you how far (in meters) and which corner is sensing it.

  7. Did anyone find out whether the is a compass in the rear view mirror. I couldn't find out how to activate it, there are instructions in the manual but nothing happens. Did they just realise it was pointless when the navigation system already has one.

I don't think I have compass in themirror either.

Thanks for the info with the parking assist. I believe it is different in Nuna toyota and both are not what I am thinking.

  8. -CV good external rear view mirrors KX both mirrors are the type "objects closer that they appear"

Welcome, and you have made the right choice.

I think the external mirror has to be like that. It is in fact in all new cars.

  9. This thing for sure. I have used it yet.

    Autoglym Leather Cream

If you use the plastic part of the interior, you can use that....

Autoglym Bumper car, perfect for external stuff, fugly on your cloth!

  10. Read my comment about the article in top of the "post your comment" box :spiteful:

To switch it off, take it off once (I think that only take the traction control off)

    2186663457_ccdb9138d8.jpg

To take the VSC off (I think then the EBD and all the electronic except ABS are all off), then you press and HOLD the button until you see this.

    2186663853_f746e270ec.jpg

From this mode to get back to normal. You have to switch off the car and restart again.

It is in the owners manual.

  11. Turn traction control off

Are you sure the kluger's traction control can be turned off???

I think this button will do boleh....

    9c1eddf2.jpg

    2b0f962c.jpg

Press once it will come back on, press and hold disable until you switch the car off.

  12. The later you buy the car and the sooner you sale it second hand, of course it will have better value. In the meantime, keep contacting to us and we will fill your gap of emptiness. Haha.

I am itchy to go offroad again, but our next trip is Great Ocean road and the Ottway Forrest.

  13. Some dealer may want to get a hold on a cheap dealer assigned car rather than a swapable car among dealers (which is going to be more expensive for dealer to get since it is in a pool) ..... is that true?

  14. ok thanks for the advice. i might go for the leather trims in the KX-R, now I just need to save up a bit more! :(

could someone please also explain whether there'll be any differences between the '07 and '08 model?

07 model is old and smaller in size and have a 3.3L V6. Production ended June 07.

If you talking about Gen 2, 3.5L V6. There is no difference
