  1. So...

If I have fogies, relay, switch and pin converter (for the switch)  I should be able to simply hook up to the existing factory fog light looms already there behind the bumper, intall the switch and relay and off I go ?

    Two things;

    1. Am I to understand that all Corolla variants have the fog light wire harness installed behind the bumper?
    2. This thread should have the title changed to Fog-lamp discussion :D

  2. As long as it doesn't turn into a thesis for you guys to do, it'd be great to have a full guide including pics on how to fully remove the calipers and bleed the brakes afterwards.

Once the calipers are off, painting should be a no-brainer, point and shoot right? :P

  3. Unfortunately the guy at "Toyota" said they wont be bringing any in from Japan either...  :(  :(  :(

Will definitely try and ask some people when I go to the Toyota open day on Sunday.

Open day at Toyota on Sunday??? Which Sunday - 14/10/2005??? What time and place as I would like to come along, especially if it is in Melbourne somewhere...

It's already passed... it was on 18th Sept.

...[sigh]... was it simply an open day at the Altona factory or something like that?

Pretty much so from what i've heard yeah... :)

It was actually a really big event with about 18,000 visitors coming, with rides for the kids, showbags, tours, Kerrie-Ann Kennerly <_< .

isn't it like that every year though?

Well, yeah... but it was the first one I've been to.

This quote tree is big. How big? Big.

  5. If they didn't bleed the air from the brake system after changing the brake fluid then what you're describing may occur.

What happens is that the air in the system compresses rather than the fluid (which technically should be incompressable) reducing effectiveness and extending your pedal stroke.

Get them to bleed the brakes.

Blackzze is right, your brakes should never push to the floor or have that little effectiveness, unless you're driving a Commodore... :P

  6. They do not have the same springs.  Although taller, the standard Sportivo has slightly stiffer suspension setup to a standard Ascent/Conquest/Levin.

Are you sure? My understanding was that they share the same springs but the stiffness is due to different struts/dampers.

  7. Took me ages to find this one, I knew I wasn't dreaming.

Sorry, the badges I have are the silver outline ones from current Camry.

The one you're after (injection moulded type) is from 380N (pre-facelift Camry).

  8. You should have had your wheels aligned after fitting the new springs.

I don't know enough about camber to judge what would be acceptable or not, but the service manual has specs for camber that I can check later on if you need.

  9. I've driven it briefly, it's a good thing.

I saw a truck-load of Yaris' on its way to dealers, so it shouldn't be too far away, next couple of weeks I'd say. It'll definately try to steal some of the Mitsubishi 380's thunder.

  10. Well Bobjones, after reading your edit I'm not sure you're interested, but anyway...

The Stivo comes off the line with the exact same springs installed as your Ascent/Conquest/Levin.

The 'Sportivo Accessory Springs' (Sportivo as a brand, not a car) available as a genuine accessory from Toyota are a stiffer spring than the one fitted as standard to the Corolla. As I mentioned, there is increased body control and a drop I enjoy.

Trust me, I'm glad I didn't have to pay retail.

  11. I stayed back after work last night with one of the techs and got my Sportivo Accessory springs fitted that I got with my discount. They gave about a 25mm drop in the rear and about a 20mm drop in the front.

I love them, ride comfort is relatively unchanged, but body control has significantly improved. Makes for a much flatter more direct ride.

    Cheers Carlo for the recommendation.

    Next step.... wheels. Cmon 17!
