  1. Hi. Not sure if I'm posting in the right area, so I apologise if not. I'm pretty in tune with my cars and have owned all Toyotas, but this is the first time I have owned a 2003 Corolla Sportivo. Something doesn't seem right...it doesn't seem to rev like I think it should. At first I thought it was maybe because i was used to my old turbo Corolla SX, but that went out the window when I was being out revved by a Daewoo :P It seems to be ok until about 4000 rpm, then from 4000 rpm to red line it struggles a lot. It does eventually hit lift and there is a noticeable sound and a little bit of a kick, but by that time everything on the road has passed me. Now I know these engines are supposed to be quite revvy and are supposed to have the power-to-weight ratio of a standard Commodore V8 (so I heard), but this car is quite frankly a slug. Is there anything obvious i should be checking for? The car has done 115,000km's was recently serviced and has a good service history. Could it be something as simple as changing the spark plugs, looking at the timing, etc? I guess I just need to know if this is a common problem with a straight forward answer, or whether i need to take a trip to the mechanics (I really want to avoid that). Thanks for any help.
  2. Is the solenoid supposed to be screwed into place on the airbox as well? And one other question, would having the vacuum line out, would that cause any performance issues, as I have noticed some but it could be unrelated.
  3. Besides downloading copies of the workshop manual (which are usually bogus or incomplete) is there anywhere online that I can buy the manual?
  4. Sorry can the mod please move this to the Sportivo section

  6. When I put my AC on, on the fan's high setting there is a very loud vibration noise which sounds like it's coming from the fan. Is there anything I can do to check this? How do I get to the AC fan?
  7. The previous owner of my Sportivo had put a CAI in. It now has the standard air box in, but there is a vacuum line on my air intake that has a screw in the end of it (highlighted in red). Where does it originally go? Also the adjustable solenoid in this pic (highlighted in green)...is that for idle adjustment?
  8. Hehehe, funny you should say that because I have already asked there. The 2 most popular workshops among those forums is IDB Automotive in Richmond, and Toyospares in Bayswater. I know someone who has gone to IDB and they charged him a fortune. Also Bayswater is an hours drive from where I live. Even though I wouldn't mind going if the price is right, it would be a bit of a pain if I have to make that trip constantly. I'm looking for something more towards the northern area of Melbourne.
  9. Hi everyone, I'm new to these forums. Was wondering if anyone could help me find a good workshop. I am doing a gze conversion in my corolla SX and I want a good affordable mechanic that has experience with Toyota's. Can anyone recommend a good workshop? Thanks for any help.
