1.8G Interior (The Optitron gauges are different from the Aussie/ Euro Sedan. I prefer the Tricolor Optitron Gauges from the 2001 Altis though, they should've brought it back for this model.)

wat kind of engine does it have. is it the stocky dual vvtli 1.8l engine. and wats the G stand for?

It's the good ol' 1ZZ (1.8) & 3ZZ (1.6), but it's tuned to accept E20 in Thailand. I wished the Southeast Asian markets got the the 2ZR & 3ZR though.

G for Good?

I'm not sure what they stand for, but G is like the luxury spec model. Toyotas sold in the south east Asian/ Taiwanese markets followed the same way grades are named in JDM land since 2000/ 2001. :)

Other grade names used by Toyota Thailand, for it's range of carss;

Q (Ultra Luxury-spec, above V.)

V (Luxury-spec, above G.)

S (Sports/ Base, depending on the model.)

G (Luxury/ Base, depending on the model.)

E (Economy (Mid-range/ Base) spec)

J (Basic grade. used on the Vios, Yaris, Avanza & Corolla Altis 1.6)

Next Post: Pics from the Genuine Accessories display cabinet.

Arghhh...... Kept getting "500 - Internal Server Error" from ImageShack. Must be the apartment's broadband connection (Never had this problem back in Perth!).

Altis 1.6G

Similar to the 1.8E, minus wood trim & Auto Climate Control. Has a single disc player, instead of the in-dash 6 disc changer. All 1.6 models get simple (But still nice looking.) 15 inch alloys (vs. 16 inch on the 1.8).

Power folding mirrors are standard across the range (Or at least in the cars I sat in. Not sure about the J grade, as it wasn't on display).

cimg4292zy2.jpg

Orlando Bloom, the new ambassador for the Corolla Altis. Brad Pitt was the ambassador for the previous gen. :spiteful:

2006 Facelift (Taiwanese version, but the Thai version is the same, just without the Corner Sonar & the steering wheel is on the wrong side.)

I'll post the 2008 accessories brochure later tomorrow, they have other interesting stuffs in there.

TF

oh. they actually had the dash gauges from the Toyota Blade as well as the steering wheel. I think the gauges looks better then the one here. Its too simple and flat looking. The one from the pic is more 3D looking. Hence classier.

Which is why Toyota's Optitron gauges is my favorite till today (Especially the recent ones.). They look really classy & are easy on the eyes (Not too bright & no glare.).

I've never seen the Aussie Corolla Ultima gauges in person, so I'm not very sure (But it looks 3D from pics.).

btw, the Blade has the MID screen in the centre, rather than on the left (Clock) & right (Odo/ trip/ gear indicator).

Didnt we have this model in Msia long time ago? like 2 - 3 years ?

Yup, this is the newer version of the one sold back in Msia. The rear tail lights remind me of the original 2001 model (The circular reverse & amber indicator lights.). Will be launched in March back home. :)
