Toyota Bluetooth and Sony Ericsson phones

Does anyone know how well the Sony Ericsson phones work with the Toyota bluetooth system?

I've heard some phones are not 100% compatible. I have a Sony Ericsson Z800i.

Does anyone know which phones (brand + model) are not 100% compatible?

When you say not compatible do you know what you mean.

For example,

I had a Samsung D600 which worked but did not show the incoming caller number if it was a speed dial and the ring tone was just the standard ring ring one.

I now have a Nokia 6288.

The number shows up most times, sometimes shows numbers not in the speed dials and most of all it keeps the same tone you had before. Even if you have a mp3 tone it plays it through the speakers.

Cant help with whats not compatible, but at the end of the day you will be able to use blue tooth no matter what phone.

The called ID will only be displayed when you are stationary. The speed signal cable is connected to the audio unit. The compatibility apparently works best with SE because they stick to the standard BT protocols. My O2 phone is probably the same wishy washy brand of BT to Nokia which isn't that great.

I am pretty sure that no matter how the bluetooth device has been made the protocols for it to work will not change, however the data been sent may not be written in the same format that both devices understand.

not entirely true .... althought bluetooth as a protocol is industry standard some of the manufacturers of handsets and devices take it upon themselves to expand the standard or to do things in a slightly alternative manner ..... usually this is seen by the big players i.e. Nokia and Sony Ericsson in a frenzy to try and differentiate themselves ..... in doing so not realizing the impact to consumers ..... and unfortunately in most cases its a simple trial and error test that shows if they have conformed to standard or not ......
