Major Rear Suspension Mod

Recommended Posts

Hi guy,

I was just wondering if anyone has ever considered completly removing the rear suspension setup in the Corolla and replacing it with a fully independent setup (like linked/wishbone style suspension) like that in the Celica. Was just thinking about it no one on here seems that concerned with it however I'm sure it would make a great difference to the car's handling characteristics.

The difference in handeling between the beam and independent setups would be only minor and not worth the money nor effort. The only time that the difference would be noticeable would be during a rally. Since most tracks are smooth there is very little need to move each wheel independently, plus it does remove a lot of undesired dynamic camber issues, such as those that plague the Commodores. On the road you wouldn't notice the difference since you shouldn't be driving that hard.

I too have thought about the idea out of curiosity. The only way to check to see if it is possible is by getting under a Celica and taking some measurements, but I don't know anyone with a Celica.

"Like really? Wow, dude, that sounds so hardcore...you must pull some serious times with that. What car was it again?"

"Uh... a Toyota Corolla... :blush::whistling: ..."
